Thus Began Your Regret (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 41
“You seem to have quite a bit of free time, Lord Westwood.”
Edward openly mocked his visit.
He had never particularly liked the man, but ever since the incident where the patent examination documents went missing, he had wanted even less to do with him.
Westwood spread his arms wide with shameless ease and said,
“Aren’t we rivals with Allen Company? If you slack off in observing your enemy, you’ll quickly fall behind.”
“Rivals, you say? I’ve never heard of Allen Company having any rivals before.”
At Edward’s retort, Westwood’s cheeks twitched. He glared at Edward, forcing his voice down with suppressed anger.
“Your arrogance pierces the heavens. If you keep strutting around just because you’ve had a bit of luck, you’ll eventually suffer a nasty fall.”
“I’m looking forward to that day myself. Life has been dreadfully dull lately.”
Edward replied with indifference.
Offended by such blatant rudeness, Westwood brought up something he’d heard at the late king’s birthday banquet.
“I heard you got yourself a cat recently. I wonder if your hand’s still intact.”
“Of course it is. I never keep pets that can’t even recognize their own master.”
Westwood’s jaw tightened visibly. Edward hadn’t given an inch, and his anger was clearly simmering.
“Ha! And you unveiled another utterly absurd invention this time too. It’ll take you a long time to prove it isn’t fraud.”
