“I brought a chair. Sit.”
Louisa, who had been gazing out the window, hesitated briefly before settling onto the chair he’d placed for her.
Edward set down the sealed bottle of mineral water from the tray and said,
“It’s mineral water. Drink it.”
Without a word, Louisa took the glass he offered.
She didn’t particularly like the characteristic tingling sensation of mineral water, but it always made her stomach feel considerably better afterward.
She closed her eyes tightly and swallowed a few sips.
The breeze from the terrace made the curtain flutter softly.
Edward leaned against the wall beside the terrace, arms crossed, saying nothing. In their shared silence, the only sound was the gentle rustle of curtain fabric brushing against itself.
