The black van carrying So Yeon and Seo Jun had been parked in that secluded spot for a long time.

Yoo Jung Hwa’s car, which had been tailing them since the filming location, also stopped at a distance just far enough to avoid being noticed.

Jung Hwa had wondered all along whether such extreme measures were really necessary while tailing them, and she even considered leaving right then and there. Yet, her burning curiosity about what the man and woman inside were doing made it absolutely impossible for her to turn back now.

Determined, Jung Hwa pulled a baseball cap low over her eyes, wrapped herself in a black raincoat over her dark clothes, and stepped out of the car, minimizing any sound she made.

But her luck—and timing—couldn’t have been worse.

The moment her foot touched the ground, it sank deep into a muddy puddle, and the light drizzle suddenly turned into a downpour, obscuring her vision so thoroughly she could barely see ahead. Still, Jung Hwa carefully took one cautious step after another forward.

I must be crazy! What on earth am I hoping to uncover by wandering around in this filthy rain? Is this really something Yoo Jung Hwa would do?

Though fully aware it was wrong, Jung Hwa somehow reached her destination. What greeted her from behind the van, however, were the voices of the man and woman inside, engaged in an intimate conversation.

Jung Hwa quickly hid herself in the blind spot of the rearview mirror and cautiously peered into the deeply tinted windows. Her fists were clenched so tightly that her nails dug into her palms, trembling with tension, yet she focused all her attention on spying into the vehicle.

Inside the pitch-dark car, she couldn’t see clearly, but she caught a faint silhouette illuminated by the tiny glow of the dashboard—two figures seemingly embracing each other. Carefully, she shifted her mud-covered feet from behind the car to its side.

Yet, as the heavy rain poured down relentlessly upon her, Jung Hwa stood frozen for a moment.

Even witnessing something as innocent as a private date made her feel so foul—how must he have felt, seeing her in bed with Han Seung Jae? She had vaguely assumed he’d been upset—of course no man would ever be happy seeing his woman cheat on him.

Only now did Jung Hwa understand.

His pain must have been several times worse than the suffocating ache crushing her chest right now.

But even in this moment, she felt no remorse. Instead, she was obsessing over how to secure her future and, more urgently, how to drive a wedge between Eom So Yeon and Tae Seo Jun.
