Hyun Woo’s swimming lessons were three times a week.

Today marked the fifth time So Yeon and Jessica had come to the sports center with Hyun Woo, timing their visits to match his lesson schedule over the past two weeks.

[Are you really sure you can handle this?]

[Of course I can. Don’t worry.]

So Yeon confidently replied to Seo Jun’s text message, then fixed Hyun Woo—visible through the floor-to-ceiling glass window—with a hawk-like gaze from behind the other mothers.

“Jong Seok’s mom! Isn’t Jong Seok crying right now?”

“Oh my goodness, what should I do? I forced him to come today even though he kept saying he was scared of the water, and now he’s completely broken down in tears.”

“Wait, look—the kid next to him is patting him gently, and Jong Seok just stopped crying right away?”

“Really? He’s the kind who never stops once he starts crying. I’m so grateful. But whose child is that? Seems like he just joined the kids’ class last week.”

“I’m not sure either. I don’t know which family he belongs to, but he’s such a pretty-looking boy, isn’t he?”

“Just watching him makes me feel happy. He’s handsome and so mature for his age. I really want to thank his mother—do you think she might not be here…?”

Because the two mothers spoke rather loudly, other mothers in the waiting area also began curiously glancing around. Yet no one stepped forward.

So Yeon knew they were talking about Hyun Woo, but wearing a mask and a baseball cap pulled low over her face, she quickly moved away from the window, worried someone might recognize her.

It was 4 p.m.

As usual, just before the lesson ended, So Yeon and Jessica moved to the entrance of the men’s changing room.
