It’s warm.

Feeling warmth, Ariel burrowed deeper in search of an even cozier spot. After basking in the heat for a long while, she slowly opened her eyes, struck by a sudden sense of unease. Before her lay Kaius’s sleeping face. Even after blinking slowly, he was still there. Wondering if it was a dream, she shifted her body—but the arms holding her tightly and the legs entwined with hers were unmistakably Kaius’s.

Why is he here…?

Last night, after their time together ended and he left the bed, Ariel had returned to her own room. She distinctly remembered putting on her nightgown carefully before falling asleep—this was certainly her bed.

[From now on, come here every night and wait for me.]

Ever since he discovered the truth about Zaphros, Kaius had never once come to her bedroom. He always summoned her to his room, indulged himself fully, and then left the bed afterward. Ariel, too, had refused to sleep beside him. It had become an unspoken rule between them—

A clear sign that their relationship would never be anything more than this.

Ariel slowly closed and reopened her eyes, gazing quietly at his peacefully slumbering face. At first glance, he looked calm.

After watching him for a moment, Ariel frowned and tried to slip out of his embrace—but as always, it was useless. Resigned, her gaze drifted beyond the curtain. Outside, the sky was beginning to lighten faintly.

Blankly staring into space as the deep blue gradually faded to pale, Ariel’s eyes returned to him.

His long, dark lashes were strikingly beautiful—nothing like his usually cold eyes. Below his sharp nose, his red lips brought back memories of last night.

No matter how hard she tried to erase them, the memories grew sharper, and the sensations more vivid. She could no longer deny the intoxicating pleasure this man gave her—but every such moment was accompanied by crushing self-loathing. Was she really just this kind of person? Engaging in pleasure with someone she didn’t love at all? It felt as if something precious she’d carefully guarded inside her was crumbling away.

At those words, which suddenly echoed in her mind, Ariel unconsciously held her breath and looked at him.
