“Max, watch closely what I’m about to do from now on.”

Having used up all the spices she’d brought for the competition, Ariel could finally fulfill her promise to Kaius—to treat him to a delicious steak. Coincidentally, the peppercorns had just finished drying, so she had come straight from the greenhouse after blending the spices.

Ariel, wearing an apron, spoke to Max, the head chef, whose expression turned somewhat bewildered. Still, Max knew well what their young mistress had accomplished, so he obediently nodded and his eyes sparkled with anticipation.

After some time passed, Kaius and Ariel, Lemon and Anna, Sir Carsen and Hern, and Butler Raymond all sat together around a table in a rather spacious dining room. The room, usually reserved for guests, featured a dazzling chandelier, a carpet with unique patterns, large windows, and an ornate fireplace—its grandeur immediately catching the eye.

As wine was poured into everyone’s glasses, all eyes except Kaius’s and Ariel’s kept drifting toward Lemon.

“Alright, I get it. Stop staring already.”

Grumbling, Lemon stood up, took his plate, and walked over to sit beside Kaius.

“Your Grace, please take this one.”

Meeting Kaius’s questioning gaze, Lemon exchanged plates and explained,

“This one was grilled personally by Madam.”

“Kaius, this time it was to teach Max, the head chef.”

Ariel quickly added, fearing he might get angry again, but Kaius simply picked up his fork and knife with serene indifference, as if it were nothing unusual. Once he began eating, everyone else eagerly picked up their utensils as though they’d been waiting for that moment.

Kaius focused on his meal even more intently than usual. He cut slowly and savored each bite at his leisure. Glancing once at his wife, then again—and again. Kaius kept looking at her so persistently that Ariel finally spoke up.

“…How is it?”
