“No entry to the greenhouse.”

Ariel, eyeing him with suspicion, said in a small but firm voice. Kaius chuckled at her clenched little fists and, unperturbed, folded his arms as if he were merely out for a leisurely stroll.

“If you needed a study, you could’ve just told Butler Raymond.”

“No. That won’t be necessary.”

Ariel stepped forward with admirable composure and reached for her boots, but Kaius, standing directly between her and her shoes, prevented her from achieving her goal.

At that moment, Ariel’s body suddenly floated upward—Kaius had lifted her by wrapping one arm around both her thighs. Realizing what had happened a moment too late, Ariel began to squirm.

“W-wait a minute. What are you doing?”

“Stay still.”

After struggling briefly to push him away, Ariel eventually gave in, growing docile. She began to wonder whether his sudden intrusion into the forbidden greenhouse might actually have a reason.

“If you have something to say, put me down first and then talk.”

Seeing her calm down, Kaius took a step backward while still holding her.

“Do you really have to climb that tree yourself? Can’t the servants pick the flowers for you?”

Caught off guard by the unexpected question, Ariel followed his gaze to the tree he was pointing at. It was Zaphros.

Though the lower part of the greenhouse was opaque, Zaphros grew tall enough to be visible from outside. While she was absorbed in this thought, Kaius set her down onto the bench. Instinctively, Ariel created some distance between them—just enough so his arm couldn’t reach her.

“As I’ve told you before, I have to do it myself. It’s dangerous for anyone else.”
