Theo wasn’t the type to stand by and watch. He grabbed the officer who was gripping Vivian painfully and glared at them threateningly.

“What do you think you’re doing? Unhand her this instant! Why are you treating her like this? Answer me!”

The eyes of passersby converged on the commotion. They stopped in their tracks to watch the scene unfolding at the train station.

“A murder occurred in Perrington, and the person implicated as the mastermind behind it is none other than Vivian Ebelline here.”

A wanted poster bearing Vivian’s photograph was thrust toward Theo’s face. Frowning, Theo roughly swatted it away, and the paper fluttered from the officer’s hand, drifting to the ground.

“A murder? That’s absurd! This has nothing to do with us, so let go of her right now. You’ve got the wrong person.”

Another officer stooped down, picked up the fallen wanted poster, and brushed off the dust.

The moment they arrived at Harborbridge, it was immediately clear whose orders the officers blocking their path were following—the wanted posters bearing Vivian’s face in their hands made that evident.

Someone had foreseen this future, taken her photo, and prepared fabricated charges.

Everything was already set up as if they’d been waiting—apparently, the Duke had known about their plan from the very beginning.

“Don’t interfere any further. If you cause trouble in a foreign land, you might never set foot in your homeland again.”

“It’s amusing how officers I’ve never met before today seem to know so much about me.”

The hand gripping the officer’s wrist tightened sharply—so powerfully that the fingers holding Vivian began to loosen. In response, another officer stepped in and struck Theo’s hand away.

“If you keep this up, you’ll be arrested too, Mr. Theo Evans. You have no connection to this matter, so please go on your way. That would be best—for both Miss Ebelline and yourself.”

The officer persuading Theo spoke in a refined tone, attempting to defuse the situation. But Theo wasn’t one to back down so easily. Worried this would escalate further, Vivian tried to stop him by stepping forward—but the officer wouldn’t allow it.
