Leon’s parents had died simultaneously in a light aircraft accident nine years ago.

By the time he found out, his son was already seventeen in Korean age. The rage and sense of betrayal were so overwhelming that he forgot even the grief over losing both parents at once.

As soon as he regained his senses, Leon rushed to his son in Korea.

Fortunately, thanks to his son’s mixed heritage, finding Tae Ha wasn’t difficult. However, locating the woman—who was officially listed as deceased—proved far from easy.

Even now, after searching continuously all this time, she remained elusive, like a ghost slipping through his fingers just as he thought he’d finally caught her.

Whenever a tip came in about a possible sighting and he sent someone to verify, it always turned out to be merely someone who resembled her. When another report arrived claiming it was definitely her this time, he’d send people again only to learn she’d already moved elsewhere.

She always used aliases and never left behind even a single photograph anywhere, making it impossible to confirm whether any of these sightings were truly her.

Nine years had already slipped away like that.

Leon grew increasingly anxious by the day. What if she’d found someone new to love? Or worse—what if she’d died unexpectedly in some accident, silently and unnoticed? After all, since she was legally dead on paper, no one would even know if she truly passed away.

She was his first love—the only woman who had given him a child.

Though they’d never actually married, Leon had always regarded her as his wife for life. Not a single day had passed without him thinking of her, and his longing to find her and keep her by his side grew more desperate with each passing day.

Yet, he still hadn’t told Tae Ha that his birth mother was alive. He couldn’t bear the thought of making his son suffer the agony of knowing she was alive but being unable to meet her.
