Leaning her back against the wall, a cool draft swept over her.

She pulled the loosely draped shawl up to her shoulders and exhaled slowly.

Back when Lasiel stayed at Abellon, whenever she felt exhausted and overwhelmed, she would secretly sit outside Raphelian’s room late at night. Even when her studies—started later than everyone else’s—felt unbearably heavy, sitting outside his room somehow made everything feel alright.

Even though he wasn’t there, simply being outside Raphelian’s room brought her peace. It gave her a sense of calm far more comforting than lying in bed ever did.

‘Just for a moment.’

Lasiel set the glass bottle she’d been hugging down beside her and buried her face between her drawn-up knees.

Her raven-black hair spilled over her shoulders like the night sky.

She swept her long tresses behind her ears, turned her head, and stared blankly at the orange-tinted lamp.

“Ah. That’s nice.”

Strangely enough, just as it had in Abellon, her mind settled smoothly into quiet calm.

The fatigue clinging to every part of her body seemed to melt away as if it were only natural.

That peculiar sense of peace suddenly brought with it a drowsy languor.

Her initial resolve—to stay only briefly—faded as weariness crept slowly over her eyelids. No matter how hard she tried not to close them, her blinking, once steady and rhythmic, gradually slowed.

Eventually, a yawn even slipped out.

‘I shouldn’t fall asleep here…’
