The White Stoat Princess (5 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 11
A long finger poked my butt with a “poke.”
“Kyu Kyu.”
I whipped my head in the exact opposite direction.
‘Hmph.’
As expected, Hadel followed in the other direction and poked my side.
“Kyu Kyu.”
‘Hmph!’
Call me 120 times if you want. I’m not turning around even once.
‘I’m mad. How dare you push me toward a raw fish.’
After I lost the staring contest with the raw fish and burst into childish wails,
Hadel, thinking a young weasel was just unfamiliar with eating fish, forcefully pushed me toward the fish.
Because of that, I ended up hugging the fish’s head with both arms!
What followed was absolute chaos. I threw the fish away and ran, the fish fell to the floor, the glass plate shattered.
‘Still, it’s not my fault! I said I couldn’t eat it! The one who pushed me anyway was Hadel.’
Even Hadel would freak out if he had to kiss a raw, uncooked fish.
Remembering hugging that slimy fish made the corners of my eyes sharpen again. I shuddered with anger.
‘Because of that, my soft fur now stinks of fish. How are you going to fix this?’
“Kyu Kyu! Kyu Kyu Kyu Kyu!”
“Hm.”
I, who used to cling to him like I was enchanted whenever he made sparks, kept showing my back, so Hadel made a troubled expression. After resting his chin on his hand and thinking for a moment, he shrugged.
“Let’s take a bath first.”
At those words, I made a face of despair.
‘Ugh, a bath.’
I hate water.
My previous life wasn’t lived in filth. But it’s some kind of physiological aversion.
‘I absolutely hate going into cold water.’
I heard other fire-attribute holders sometimes cool their bodies in cold water, but not me.
“Kyu Kyu.”
I hate baths. Suggest another way.
With that meaning, I kyu-kyu-ed earnestly. Whether he understood or not, Hadel simply picked me up. Then he opened the bathroom door.
‘Ugh, we’re washing in the bathroom?’
The bathroom was the place I felt most uncomfortable with. It looked different from the palace bathrooms, unfamiliar and strange, and anyway, since my soul is female, sharing a bathroom with Hadel felt awkward.
It was a place I only ever used quickly when I really had to go, then fled.
‘But how are we supposed to wash here? The servants haven’t even brought water yet.’
That was when I tilted my head in confusion.
Places I couldn’t reach because of my height gradually came into view while being held in Hadel’s arms. There was a large mirror that clearly showed the upper body, and a sink. All the fixtures attached to the sink were things I had never seen before.
‘Wow, what is that? When you turn it, water gushes out.’
No wonder no one came to fetch water—one of the fixtures, when turned, made water pour out of the faucet.
Seeing this for the first time, my eyes widened.
‘Whoever made this is amazing! I’ve never seen anything like it even in the palace.’
But I had spent years on battlefields! I shook my head.
‘No, while I was wandering through wars, someone might have invented this.’
Does it draw water from underground? Or does it create water using mana, like how I make fire?
‘Either way, it’s fascinating.’
I could only marvel at the mage engineer who invented it and how they came up with the idea.
While staring at the gushing water with sparkling eyes, I suddenly remembered something I had forgotten and hardened my face seriously.
‘But the water coming out right now is cold water, isn’t it?’
Feeling the chill, I instinctively grabbed Hadel’s finger tightly.
‘If you put me in cold water, I might die. My heart would freeze with a bang.’
Sensing my struggling, Hadel asked in a gentle voice.
“Do you hate cold water?”
Nod nod.
I quickly nodded. Hadel tilted his head.
“I prefer cold water.”
At that answer, I narrowed my eyes and glared at him.
‘No, it’s my bath, so why are you talking about what you prefer?’
It’s the water for my bath, so do whatever I want. I like warm water.
“Kyu!”
When I smacked the back of Hadel’s hand with my front paws, he slowly nodded. Then he dipped his right index finger into the water.
‘Steam is rising from the water?’
In an instant, steam began rising from the water. My eyes became round.
‘Because he has the fire attribute, he can boil water instantly!’
I had never once thought of using it that way!
‘Well, on the battlefield, I was lucky if I could wash in a lake. There were plenty of days I couldn’t even brush my teeth because of water shortages.’
What would have happened if I had boiled lake water?
‘The lake would have turned into a giant fish stew.’
Thinking that, this wasn’t the time to grumble. I suddenly felt humble.
Having convinced myself and nodding, I soon frowned deeply at Hadel’s next words.
“This much warm water in the sink should be enough, right? I heard weasels are good at swimming.”
‘Ugh, I still hate baths!’
Do I really have to go in?
My heart was already broken, so I hated water even more. When water attribute and fire attribute clash, the reason water wins is probably this very unpleasant feeling.
But because of my earlier rendezvous with the fish, my body reeked of fish—I had no choice but to wash.
I made a face as determined as when I had stood before the fish.
‘Fine. I’m still a person, I have to wash.’
Sensing my resolve, Hadel slowly lowered me into the sink.
But doesn’t the water look a bit deep…….
Splash!
Glug glug glug glug.
“…….”
That was it. Half a beat late, Hadel let out an uncharacteristically panicked scream.
“Gasp!”
Ah, I almost died.
[This is the timeline separator]Swimming my foot. I just sank straight to the bottom like a rock, no resistance, glug glug submerged. Hadel, who fished me out late, turned pale and wiped me with his own shirt.
“How can you sink glug glug without even resisting once? I thought you were diving.”
“Kyu?!!?”
You’re making me feel wronged again!
‘How would I know! That I’d sink straight down without even floating once!’
It’s not like I decided the water depth.
I clearly expressed that I didn’t want a bath.
You didn’t even ask once if I could swim.
‘Isn’t this too much?’
“Kyuu, kyuu…….”
Feeling wronged, I cried again. At that, the corners of Hadel’s eyes drooped as well. He lowered his head deeply and apologized to me.
“I’m sorry. I was so shocked that I got agitated.”
“Kyu!”
Good, you understand! It’s your fault! Your fault!
I was so angry that my kyu sound tore long and came out like a squeak. After silently listening for a long time to my incomprehensible protests, Hadel slowly placed me on the soap spot above the sink.
“No choice then.”
Hm? No choice about what?
‘W-wait a second. What are you doing?’
I stared at Hadel with wide eyes. After putting me down, now with free hands, Hadel began unbuttoning his shirt.
Tok. Tok.
The sound of buttons coming undone rang like thunder. The shirt opened, revealing firm bare skin. It was the very chest that had flustered me earlier.
‘Why are you taking your clothes off?!’
What does feeling sorry to me have to do with undressing?
Too shocked to even react, I could only flare my nostrils. That was when the shirt dropped to the floor with a tok.
Hadel, now half-naked, spoke in his usual blunt tone.
“We have no choice but to bathe together.”
“Kyu?!”
Now mixed bathing? Because I might sink, you’ll hold me yourself while bathing?
‘O gods above.’
It was stimulation beyond what my nerves could handle. I toppled backward.
[This is the timeline separator]After filling the bathtub with water, Hadel warmed it to a comfortable temperature.
He, who always suffered from heat, normally bathed in cold water. Even if thin ice floated, the moment he entered it became lukewarm instantly.
But today, sitting in nicely warm water didn’t feel bad at all. It wasn’t as stimulating as he had thought.
Hadel looked down at the round back of the white weasel’s head that was clutching his finger like a lifeline.
‘What a truly strange little creature.’
It was scared but still held on tightly. Hadel chuckled at the cute reddened ears.
The more he looked, the smarter his weasel seemed. The way it sat quietly on the cushion when told it was working, for example.
‘Are all weasels this intelligent? I’ve only ever seen their pelts, so I wouldn’t know.’
Moreover, because animals disliked Hadel, he never had the chance to get close even if he wanted to.
While examining every detail of the weasel, Hadel picked up the soap to achieve his original goal and rubbed the weasel’s chest. Removing the fishy smell from the chest area was the top priority, after all.
Yet the moment the soap touched its chest, the weasel flinched, then soon drooped its head gloomily.
“Kyuu…….”
‘Is it sad?’
When he turned the weasel toward himself to check if it was hurt somewhere, he saw the small head trembling.
‘Is it scared?’
For now, it seemed to dislike being washed by him. Instead of rinsing the weasel’s body himself, Hadel submerged it deep in the warm water so only its head stayed above the surface.
“Kyuu.”
Liking warmth apparently included hot water as well; the weasel’s face quickly relaxed into a happy grin.
‘It seems to feel good anyway, so I’ll leave it like this.’
How can it be this cute?
The corners of Hadel’s mouth crept upward. It was a rare bright smile, but unfortunately, there was no one there to see it.
