The coachman courteously opened the door, and I stepped out of the carriage first. Noxia followed next, and finally, Askan emerged.
Noxia and I were known faces to the public, but Askan was not.
I could sense the dressmaker’s staff widening their eyes at Askan’s appearance—it was only natural, given his breathtakingly handsome looks captivated attention at first glance.
“Welcome. I’m Madam Michelle.”
The middle-aged woman standing foremost among them offered a greeting on behalf of the group. Even without her saying so, it was evident she was the owner of this establishment.
“We contacted you ahead of time—we’re looking for a dress to wear at the royal ball.”
“Yes. Knowing you would be arriving, we’ve turned away all other customers so Lady Brelrop may shop comfortably. Please take your time browsing. I’ll personally guide you.”
Michelle spoke casually, yet it was extraordinary for them to receive only a single party of guests on such an important day when new dresses had just arrived.
Though we hadn’t specifically requested it, the overwhelmingly VIP treatment felt slightly puzzling.
Recalling the novel “Beloved Saintess,” Tanasia had always gone to great lengths to appear even more beautiful than Noxia, making extraordinary efforts every time a party occurred.

Soon, we arrived in a spacious fitting room.
Luxuriously decorated, one entire wall was mirrored, and comfortable seating had been arranged for observers.
I took a seat on the sofa first, and Noxia joined me beside it. Askan, as usual, remained standing with his usual blank expression.
Michelle skillfully handed me a dress catalog and began explaining,
“These are our latest arrivals. Please select what you like, and I’ll bring them for you to try on.”
I nodded and started searching for dresses that would suit Noxia.
The key difference between Noxia and me—and her greatest strength—was her ethereal silver hair.
I imagined her silver locks shimmering under the ballroom’s brilliant lights, paired with the red diamond set gifted by Ollande.
A soft pastel-toned dress would likely suit her far better than bold, saturated colors.
After carefully reviewing the options, I finally pointed to four dresses.
“Let’s start with these.”
“Yes, if you’d like to try them on, this way—”
“It’s not me—it’s my younger sister who’ll be trying them.”
Michelle and Noxia both looked at me with surprised eyes at my words.
Apparently, they’d assumed I’d choose my own dress first.
Flustered, Noxia waved her hands and said,
“No, no—you should choose your dress first, elder sister.”
“I’ll find something that suits you first; I’ll pick mine afterward.”
The crucial point of this royal ball was Noxia’s first meeting with Crown Prince Roel.
For Tanasia, this day held no significant events, so merely going through the motions would suffice.
Noticing Noxia’s large eyes welling with tears, I realized she must have misinterpreted my changed behavior compared to the original story.
I had no intention of tormenting Noxia like in the novel, but neither did I wish to become affectionate sisters.
She could live happily in her own life, and I in mine—that was all that mattered.
“Don’t misunderstand. I simply chose yours first because I promised to help pick your dress.”
To me, it was merely an explanation, yet even I heard how tsundere it sounded. Unsurprisingly, Noxia’s touched expression didn’t fade.
Feeling uncomfortable with the atmosphere, I urged Michelle beside me,
“Please prepare the dresses quickly.”
“Oh—yes, right this way.”
At Michelle’s words, Noxia nodded slightly and rose from her seat.
After a brief wait, the curtain swished open, and Noxia appeared wearing the dress I’d selected.
‘Kuh—my taste really is impeccable….’
The dress perfectly complemented Noxia’s saintly aura. Its beadwork accents were so dazzling that she’d undoubtedly become the star of the ballroom wearing it alone.
I’d initially planned to visit several dressmakers, but as expected of the capital’s premier establishment, their dress quality was exceptional.
Excitedly, Noxia examined her reflection from every angle in the mirror and asked,
“How is it?”
“It suits you well. Try another one.”
“Okay!”
Seemingly pleased with what she’d just tried, Noxia brightened and went to change into another dress.
Thus, I witnessed Noxia modeling several new dresses.
Michelle, who’d been watching alongside me, praised her enthusiastically with evident satisfaction.
“Every dress Lady Brelrop selected suits her wonderfully—I’m at a loss for which to recommend!”
Indeed, as Michelle said, every dress looked perfect on her. The pink one was adorable, and the pale blue one exuded elegance.
All were so lovely that it became difficult to decide among them.
When Noxia returned after trying the final dress, I pointed to all the ones she’d worn and asked,
“Which one do you like best?”

Noxia beamed and nodded vigorously.

Once we’d decided, Michelle checked the dress in her notebook. To prevent nobles from wearing identical outfits, once sold, a dress could not be purchased again.
“We’ll tailor your chosen dress and deliver it to Brelrop Mansion.”
Noticing only women’s dress catalogs on the table, I said,
“Show me men’s attire as well. I also plan to have my attendant’s suit tailored.”
“Oh, right away.”
Having finalized Noxia’s dress, we moved on to selecting Askan’s formal attire.
His expression remained blank, so I couldn’t tell what he was thinking, but he changed into several outfits as I instructed.
Knowing he’d never give a proper answer if asked, I consulted only with Noxia and Michelle.
The outfit we ultimately chose for Askan was immensely satisfying.

Though still a youth, he stood taller than others his age, with broad shoulders—his facial features and physique alike flawless.
One might describe him as a coldly elegant pretty boy.
He might not realize it, but that very distance drew people’s eyes even more.
“We’re done—go change back into your original clothes.”
“Yes.”
At my words, Askan wordlessly disappeared to change.
I reopened the dress catalog on the table and said,
“Then I just need to pick my own dress, and we’re finished.”

The cup slipped from the staff’s hand onto the table.
Instantly, the glass shattered against the floor, spraying black tea everywhere.
No one could have anticipated the tea would splash directly onto my dress.
Though the staff member’s trembling hands had seemed uneasy from the start, I never expected this to happen.
Everyone froze in shock at the sudden incident. Michelle, who had just stepped back into the fitting room, spotted the scene and rushed over.
“Oh dear! Quick—bring something to clean this up!”
Even at Michelle’s cry, the staff stood flustered and confused.
In that moment—
Swiftly, as if appearing from nowhere, Askan knelt before me on one knee and began dabbing the spreading tea stain on my dress with a napkin.
His own clothes became soiled in the process, but he prevented the tea from staining my dress further.
To others, it might have seemed insignificant.
As my attendant, it was merely his duty. Given his status as a slave, kneeling like this might have seemed ordinary.
Yet to me, someone who’d lived in modern society, such an “ordinary” act felt anything but ordinary.
As if entranced, I reached out and placed my hand on his shoulder as he knelt.
It was a gesture meaning he could stop.
At my touch, Askan—ever the dutiful servant—looked up wordlessly.
Meeting his fathomless golden eyes, my emotions spilled out before my mind could catch up.

I suspect there is more to it and some invisible undercurrents, too.
Or, at least, I hope so.She should be fully aware that it may create big trouble for her family and herself. That was a direct threat.
