The day I became the wife of a handsome and capable man five years my junior, drawing the envy and jealousy of countless noble ladies.

With a wedding tiara perched atop my short black hair and clad in a pure white dress, I was supposedly the happiest bride there could be… yeah, right.

I barely managed to cling to my husband’s arm—the one concealing a knife in his sleeve—as I walked down the aisle.

In other words, I was becoming the wife of a man who’d threatened to behead me if I dared run away.

My soon-to-be husband, Duke Sikar, was a better actor than I’d expected. He flashed a radiant smile at the crowd while keeping his lips tightly shut, as if performing ventriloquism, and whispered:

“Try managing your expression a bit.”

“How about you put the knife down first before telling me to manage my expression?”

“That would be difficult. After all, this is the only way to keep hold of a bride who’s clearly just waiting for a chance to run.”

He’s the kind of villainous husband who constantly threatens to kill me—did I really look like someone who wouldn’t run away?

Besides, even if this was just a marriage of convenience, to be the wife of a villain destined to meet a tragic end swept up in the whirlwind of history…

I felt as though doom had already cast its shadow over my future.

Chapter 1. The Villain Found Out I Knew This Was a Novel (1)

I hadn’t been in this world very long.

I was working as a kindergarten teacher and, as usual, was seeing the children off after school that day.

Despite keeping my guard up—since accidents in school zones happened all too often—I spotted a car running a red light, speeding straight toward a child.

Driven solely by the instinct and duty to protect the child, I leapt into the road and pulled the kid into my arms.

When I opened my eyes again, I was here.

I awoke in a dim alley near the town square, suddenly dropped into this novel with absolutely no connections whatsoever.

I wasn’t even a minor character in the story, nor was I an extra.

I was simply a lone human being, dropped whole into this world from the sky.

The man who would soon become my husband, Sikar, was a villain fated to meet a miserable death near the novel’s end.

In the novel, it was heartbreakingly sad when they said he’d never smiled even once in his life.

As that thought struck me, I found myself empathizing with the villain’s final words—when was the last time I’d genuinely laughed with relief, anyway?

Could that be why I’d been dropped into this place?

I’d arrived here with nothing at all—naked, essentially.

In short, I was utterly penniless and destitute.

Dropped right in the middle of winter, shivering from the cold, I wandered the streets like a homeless person until I saw a crowd gathered in the square, shouting noisily.

“Execute the tyrant king!”

“Kill the deposed monarch!”

Though I’d never heard this language before, I could understand every word—which felt strangely miraculous—and I approached the gathering.

On a platform in the center of the square sat a man tied up with ropes, bleeding from stones thrown by the crowd.

Then, a man in an elegant uniform stepped forward. In his hand, he held a long, sharp greatsword.

“It’s Duke Sikar Blake!”

“Lord Sikar Blake! Please execute the deposed monarch who ruined our kingdom!”

The moment I heard that name, I knew for certain this was the very novel I’d read.

Sikar Blake was the villain who overthrew the deposed king and installed a new ruler—a terrifying figure rumored to read people’s memories with just a touch.

Judging by what was unfolding, today was apparently the day of the deposed king’s execution.

That meant this was the exact moment the novel began.

In that instant, I remembered a vacant house where I could temporarily stay.

Half-frozen and starving, I barely managed to drag myself to Mount Hill, located just outside the city.

Mount Hill was a small village within the Blake territory, and it was where the protagonist would temporarily stay in a humble farmhouse.

That house was specifically prepared in the novel as a childhood residence for the protagonist, so it stood empty with no real owner.

It was the safest place I could possibly stay, even briefly.

Inside the house, it felt as if everything had been perfectly prepared to welcome the protagonist—food, firewood, and all sorts of provisions were plentiful, and the kitchen was stocked with fresh groceries as though someone had just returned from the market.

‘Of course—it’s preserved in pristine condition because it’s meant for the protagonist.’

Hungry as I was, I was even more desperate for warmth. I immediately lit a fire in the hearth.

I sat motionless in front of the fireplace until my body thawed completely, my teeth chattering so loudly from the bitter cold.

Once I’d warmed up a little, an intense hunger finally set in.

Feeling slightly guilty about eating food meant for the protagonist, I quietly murmured an apology before drinking some milk from the kitchen shelf.

‘I’ll only have a little.’

Chapter 115 Chapter 114

Since the protagonist would arrive in about a week, I needed to find a convent or somewhere to stay during that time.

In this world, convents provided food and shelter to those with nowhere else to go, so that was my only option.

Just as I stepped outside to fetch some water from the well, an elderly woman came running toward me in a panic.

“Big sister! Big sister!”

The moment she saw me, she started calling me “big sister” and chased after me.

At first, I was utterly bewildered—but then I remembered my own grandmother, who’d passed away from dementia, so I couldn’t just turn her away.

It was also a little frightening to be alone in this place with poor security, so after some thought, I brought the grandmother back to the protagonist’s house.

After all, when I eventually moved to the convent, I could just take her with me.

Once I’d brought her home, I first changed her out of her tattered clothes and gave her a meal.

Of course, I had to leave enough food for the protagonist, so we only ate enough to keep from starving.

That meal didn’t fully satisfy our hunger, but I forced myself to leave the rest untouched, suppressing my cravings.

‘I’m so hungry.’

From experience, the best remedy for hunger is sleep. After our meager meal, I quickly lay down and fell asleep alongside the grandmother.

I don’t know how long I’d been asleep when, like a bolt from the blue, soldiers suddenly stormed in. Before I could even beg for my life, they gagged me and covered my head with a hood.

I was dragged away by the soldiers, completely unaware of who was taking me or where I was going.

Inside the silent carriage, where only the clatter of wheels could be heard, I trembled in fear, still not knowing where I was being taken.

It wasn’t like I was being kidnapped because I was so beautiful, so maybe they’d seized me for looking like a suspicious foreigner?

But if they just wanted to interrogate a stranger, they’d at least explain why they were taking me—so that couldn’t be it either.

Then why…? Were they planning to sell me off as a maid somewhere because I looked like I’d work well?

No matter how hard I tried to rationalize the situation through my fear—biting my lips the whole time—I couldn’t come up with any plausible explanation.

After a long carriage ride, we finally seemed to arrive somewhere. The heavy clanging of an iron gate echoed, followed by hushed voices and bustling footsteps all around.

Soon, people pulled me from the carriage and handed me over to someone else. I was dragged again and seated in a chair.

‘Please don’t tell me this is some kind of torture chair…’

Given the circumstances, nothing but grim thoughts filled my mind.

It certainly felt cold and hard enough to be a torture chair. When I shifted my weight, the chair even creaked ominously.

Then, someone touched my face, and I frantically shook my head, pleading for my life.

Gentle hands removed the hood and gag from my face. The sudden brightness made it impossible to open my eyes right away—I had to blink several times before my vision cleared.

As my sight slowly returned and objects came into focus, I was surprised to see not torture instruments, but a lavish banquet laid out before me.

“You took care of our grandmother.”

Opposite me sat a man with his arms crossed, his chin raised haughtily as he looked down at me.

When I studied his face closely, he was so devastatingly handsome it nearly stole my breath away.

As I stared at him in a daze, a memory suddenly clicked.

‘Right! He’s the man from the square!’

So this man was Sikar Blake, the very same one I’d seen in the square.

At that moment, fragments of the novel came rushing back, and I began to guess the grandmother’s true identity.

In the novel, Sikar’s grandmother suddenly developed dementia, wandered outside, was robbed of her clothes and jewels by villains, and eventually froze to death in rags.

She was Sikar’s only remaining blood relative, and since Sikar was already borderline insane, her death pushed him into even deeper darkness.

In short, her death was a plot device specifically designed to make Sikar even more villainous.

‘Out of all the grandmothers in this world, I had to take care of the one belonging to the novel’s villain!’

I remembered how he’d executed the deposed king on the scaffold that very morning, and a chill ran down my spine.

Though he appeared calm and composed on the surface, I knew full well he was the kind of man who was “politely insane.”

Sikar swept back the strands of hair falling over his forehead and stared intently into my eyes.

The moment our eyes met, even though he was merely looking at me, I felt as if he could read my memories.

His gaze was that sharp—as if it could pierce straight through a person’s soul.

“Black hair and black eyes… You possess a mysterious appearance I’ve never seen before. Your clothes are strange as well… Nevertheless, I’ll reward you generously for taking good care of our grandmother. If there’s anything else you need, just say it.”

So he was essentially offering me money right now.

As the saying goes: strike while the iron’s hot.

If not now, when else would I get such an opportunity?

After enduring such extreme hunger and cold, I was in no mood to offer false modesty with a “I’m fine” response.

“I didn’t help expecting a reward, but I’d be grateful for whatever you’re willing to give.”

By “whatever,” I meant literally anything—because only by taking everything offered could I hope to survive in this world.

Sikar, seemingly unfamiliar with the concept of modesty himself, didn’t seem bothered at all by my blunt request.

“I’ll ensure the reward is more than sufficient.”

Despite his frightening temperament, Sikar was refreshingly straightforward—he granted me a reward large enough to live comfortably for years.

After profusely thanking him until my tongue nearly wore out, I took the generous payment he gave me and climbed into a carriage to leave the ducal mansion.

But suddenly, the grandmother jumped into the carriage and clung tightly to me.

“Big sister! Where are you going? Big sister! Don’t go!”

…I was stunned. No, terrified—it felt like the words “Why are you doing this, grandmother?” would slip out of my mouth any second.

The grandmother cried, begging me not to leave, but honestly, I was the one who really wanted to cry.

“Grandmother, please don’t do this… I have to go… You’re not planning to kill me, are you?”

‘If I stay here any longer, Sikar might discover I know this is a novel—and who knows what he’d do to me then!’

This place is a novel? He’s the kind of madman who’d kill me and still have energy left over.

But because the grandmother kept wailing and refusing to let go, I couldn’t leave the ducal mansion.

I struggled with all my might, but in the end, I was pulled back out of the carriage.

‘Is this really how you treat someone who saved your grandmother’s life?’

Once again, I was led by soldiers back into the ducal mansion.

They seated me in a chair right in front of the table where Sikar stood.

He looked down at me and said,

“If you stay here as our grandmother’s companion, I’ll give you enough wealth to live in luxury for the rest of your life—more than enough to idle away your days. What do you say? Will you make a deal with me?”

So this is how deals are made here—by holding a knife to someone’s throat?

I Received The First Time Of My Extraordinary Superior (9 Chapters Left to Complete)

27/12/2025
Chapter 150 Chapter 149

When male lead is the homewrecker

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.

Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.

The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.

I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.

There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.

For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.

I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.

Here’s the story synopsis:

One-line summary: She is his lifelong obsession, to the point where he was willing to be a third wheel, scorned by society, just to wedge his way into her relationship with her fiancé.

Cold-hearted and indifferent female lead + Scheming and subservient CEO male lead

Intro 1:

“I know she doesn’t love him.”

With blood trickling from his clenched fist, Rong Xiu gazed at the woman before him, his eyes clouded with anguish. Hidden in the wardrobe, he had witnessed Fan Xia – the woman he desperately loved – in an intimate embrace with her fiancé. Yet his heart still yearned for her, defying all reason.

Fan Xia, the elegant and composed assistant, carried something mysterious in her eyes whenever she looked at her fiancé, Wen Lan Sheng. Strange occurrences began to surface – secret meetings with the young Gu Jin Yi, an unexplained withdrawal of 5,000 yuan… Then suddenly, her fiancé’s sister, Wen Jing, violently attacked her.

In this matriarchal society, Rong Xiu had risen to become the chairman of a powerful healthcare conglomerate, breaking through gender prejudices. But for the first time, he willingly stepped into the shadows as the other man, disregarding his friends’ warnings to become her secret lover.

Because he had discovered the truth – Fan Xia wasn’t the pure angel everyone believed her to be. And perhaps, he was the only one capable of helping her execute her mysterious plan…

Intro 2:

Rong Xiu’s biggest regret in life was missing out on Fan Xia.

He secretly loved Fan Xia for 7 years.

Watched her go public with her boyfriend.

Watched her kiss her boyfriend at their wedding.

Until that man blissfully nestled in Fan Xia’s arms, obtaining everything he could only dream of.

The crazy jealousy stripped away his hidden secret love, layer by layer, burning like wildfire.

Fan Xia, how can I have you!
