It had already been two months since Leah stayed at Duke Bellarus’s mansion. She had been spending her time immersed in developing a cure, based on the advice she obtained from Dr. Franken.

“The concentration the doctor mentioned should be correct…”

Leah tilted her head, looking at the cure in the test tube. It was certainly the mixture the doctor had specified, yet developing the cure proved more difficult than she had anticipated.

‘Did I miss something?’

Leah set down the test tube and cast her gaze onto the formulation sheet. Seeing nothing particularly problematic, she let out a sigh.

She couldn’t tell whether the issue lay with the formulation itself or with her unsettled state of mind.

It had already been two months since Akia left for the capital. He hadn’t replied to any of Leah’s letters.

Had he forgotten that she was still staying in the Duchy of Bellarus? Or perhaps…

“Maybe he simply has no intention of summoning me.”

As her emotions threatened to spiral again at the thought of Akia, Leah shook her head this time. Worrying wouldn’t solve anything.

Just as she tried to refocus on developing the cure—since thinking of him only made her feel gloomy—she sensed someone approaching the desk behind which she stood.

The mansion’s laboratory was a space Dmitri had prepared especially for Leah. Since servants never entered, she naturally assumed the visitor was Dmitri.

“You’re here? Please wait just a moment—the formulation is almost complete.”

Leah hurriedly moved her hands, believing he must have come out of loneliness.

A strange musky scent brushed past her nose, and someone picked up the paper lying beside her. The scent’s owner was not Dmitri.
