Leah let out a breath after finishing tea with Dmitri. Yet all the way back to her room, she kept biting her lip as if uneasy about something.

“His Grace didn’t seem to be in good spirits earlier.”

Just a while ago, strangely enough, Akia hadn’t looked cheerful at all during the meal. Even when she asked him with a glance what was wrong, he remained silent.

“What on earth was the problem?”

At first glance, it didn’t seem like Akia and Duke Bellarus were on particularly good terms.

She was vaguely wondering whether something had gone wrong at work when—

She ran into Akia, who had been waiting right outside her door. Leah quickly scanned her surroundings, worried she might have gone to the wrong room, but it was indeed hers.

Which meant Akia had business with her.

“Your Grace, what are you doing here? You seemed to have something urgent earlier—did it go well?”

“Urgent matter?”

Akia’s expression darkened as if recalling the recent incident. After all, what urgent business could he possibly have in this mansion?

And just as expected—the “urgent matter” Butler Bayern mentioned was merely a single letter from Rikel inquiring after her well-being.

“How transparent.”

It was an utterly flimsy excuse by the butler, clearly meant to push Leah and Duke Bellarus together. Anyone could see that.
