As Ha Jun slammed the brakes, Ji An’s body lurched forward.

Screeech.

The car, screeching against the road, tore through two lanes with a rending tire sound before coming to a halt.

He turned to Ji An, tension in his voice as he urgently asked,

“What’s wrong? You said you had to go—did something happen?”

“No… I just blurted it out wrong. Guess my face isn’t threatening after all. Everyone was really kind, so I came back fine.”

Horns blared noisily from surrounding cars, irritated by the sedan parked diagonally across lanes.

Ji An twisted in her seat, glancing out the window at the road. What a huge inconvenience this was.

“Let’s go. People are waiting.”

Ha Jun pressed the accelerator and straightened the wheel, aligning the car properly. Traffic quickly returned to normal once his car moved.

When Ha Jun’s car stopped, Ji An laughed incredulously. It was that familiar chicken feet restaurant with bold red Gothic lettering on the sign.

She narrowed her eyes slightly and asked,

“You really want to eat this? At this hour? Instead of a proper meal?”

“Last time, you fell asleep before we could come. It’s been weighing on my mind ever since.”
