Though a year had 365 days, such a beautiful season comprised only a small portion of it. Merely walking down the street lifted one’s mood, and warmth seemed to settle wherever the eyes fell—it was truly the heart of a bountiful season.

His voice, suddenly appearing out of nowhere and suggesting a drink, sounded unfamiliar. Its flat, indifferent tone felt oddly sorrowful.

Hye Won bit her lip tightly as she watched him turn his head and cough once, apparently noticing his own hoarseness.

Understanding the sorrow quickly gathering in her eyes, Tae Beom raised his hand slightly.

“It’s not that my voice is damaged—I just didn’t sleep well.”

“…Okay.”

“If it’s alright, could you spare me some time?”

Hye Won hesitated. Though her heart longed to follow him anywhere, anywhere at all, they had already parted ways.

And it wasn’t even an ordinary breakup—it was the kind that had smashed every ugly moment right into their faces before saying goodbye.

Still, she didn’t feel capable of sitting across from him as if nothing had happened, casually exchanging idle chatter.

“How could I possibly drink with you, Managing Director?”

“Just drink, then. I happened to have some free time, and I don’t have any friends to share a drink with.”
