The Price is Everything of Yours (76 Chapters Left to Complete) - Chapter 40
“How did it go?”
When the interrogation-that-wasn’t-quite-an-interrogation ended, the first-year students were in etiquette class. Diane asked Neris, who had just joined right before class ended, with a worried expression.
Neris glanced at Alecto moving to sit beside Aidalia and whispered back so only Diane could hear.
“Three days of detention in the reflection room after school.”
Since even Nelusion had come, it seemed everyone already knew the news: Angharad Nain’s father had arrived and accused Alecto and Neris of being the culprits behind the bullying.
Neris wasn’t happy about having received Nelusion’s help, but she knew full well that without him, things wouldn’t have ended so easily.
“What about Angharad?”
“No idea. She seemed to go off somewhere with her father.”
Class ended right then. The children stood and chattered among themselves as they headed to the dining hall for dinner.
It was the usual scene, and Angharad’s absence alone didn’t leave any noticeable void—especially since Alecto’s voice rang down the corridor, and though the children pretended otherwise, they all listened closely.
“It’s so absurd! How could I possibly say anything when I was scared? It’s her own fault for acting like that! When I mentioned the ribbon, she kept insisting she had no idea what I was talking about!”
“That’s terrible.”
A boy listening to Alecto’s tirade nodded in theatrical agreement. Aidalia, though part of the same group, stayed silent—clearly uncomfortable with all the attention—but the faint look of disgust on her face made her stance obvious.
Seizing the moment, Neris gave Diane a rough summary of what had happened. When Diane heard that Nelusion had shown up, she nodded knowingly.
“Of course he came—he’s family. He’s a good older brother.”

Male lead is a Divorced Husband
She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”

The male lead being so proud of his wife is honestly adorable, even when he gets jealous.
And the female lead is so elegant and beautiful—I can’t wait to see this scene illustrated
Haha, did the ML really just say that to the FL? He’s so cute when he gets a little jealous.
Can’t wait for next chapter
The ML is so considerate of his wife. He treats her with so much care and gentleness, even when she doesn’t say a word—he just understands her. He’s honestly so perfect, I can’t 😭
I really hope the FL can overcome these painful feelings soon. I can’t bear to watch her suffer this much. 💔
