Startled, Ji Na turned her head to see Jin Woo leaning against the doorway of the break room.

“Huh? What?”

Before she knew it, her words slipped out casually, and Jin Woo’s eyes lit up as he stepped closer.

“I thought running errands was part of an intern’s main duties.”

His strong scent suddenly hit her. Ji Na quickly took a step back.

“Who said that?”

The words tumbled out before she could stop them, and one of Jin Woo’s eyebrows arched upward.

“An intern isn’t an errand runner.”

Ji Na hastily switched to polite speech. She needed to avoid private conversations with Jin Woo at all costs.

“If you’re thinking of coffee, we only have instant mix right now. The bean machine broke down, so I’ve requested a replacement.”

The air around Jin Woo felt heated. That must’ve been why her face felt so flushed.

Jin Woo smiled faintly at Ji Na’s reaction and gazed at her intently.

Even the way she treated him like any other person felt endearing to him. Was it his eyes playing tricks on him, making her seem even lovelier than he’d imagined all this time—or was it his heart?

His feelings hadn’t dulled after one confession. Nor were they folding away.

Jin Woo had already decided he’d wait until Ji Na opened her heart and accepted him.

Under Jin Woo’s steady gaze, Ji Na’s fingertips trembled—he showed no intention of hiding his thoughts at all. His burning eyes seemed to peer right through her, exposing every flaw and mistake without missing a thing.

Ji Na had found her calm relationship with Do Jin comfortable and good—stable, trust-based, and clean, with a respectful distance. She’d always believed that kind of relationship suited her best.

“And I’ll return your clothes tomorrow.”

Just before passing Jin Woo with her paper cup of instant coffee, she added. She had to avoid any actions that might invite misunderstanding—because it was the right thing for both of them.

Fortunately, Jin Woo stayed in the break room long after Ji Na left. Ji Na tried her hardest to stop paying attention to him—because if she didn’t make a conscious effort, her thoughts kept drifting back to Jin Woo.

The morning hours, which felt like hundreds of hours long, finally ended, and it was lunchtime. When Ji Hye approached, inviting her to eat, Ji Na shot her a look.

“You’re so mean.”

Ji Hye just shrugged, clearly confused by Ji Na’s comment.

“What’s wrong? Associate Lee Ji Na?”

From the way she spoke, it was obvious Ji Hye knew exactly what was on Ji Na’s mind.

“Can you switch my mentor, Associate Lee Ji Hye?”

“No mentor changes allowed.”

Annoying. Ji Hye playfully stuck out her tongue, making Ji Na burst out laughing in exasperation.

“Our intern Jo Young Hee—so capable and thoughtful. She’s going to be someone big.”

“Already intern love and mentor love?”

“I stepped aside for you, Lee Ji Na. You owe me one.”

“Huh?”

Ji Na’s eyes widened in genuine confusion.

“You two are close, right? So much better than being strangers. Comfortable with each other.”

Not comfortable. Not good at all.

She wanted to argue back fiercely, but Ji Na swallowed it down with a deep sigh instead.

“Fine. Then you’re buying lunch today, Associate Lee Ji Hye.”

“Huh? What? You should be the one buying.”

Ji Na playfully shoved Ji Hye’s back, making her flail her arms.

“Don’t you know the grateful magpie? Repay your debt with lunch, Magpie Associate.”

“Pfft—what’s that even mean?”

Laughing, Ji Na and Ji Hye left the office together. Jin Woo, who’d been on Ji Na’s mind all morning, was nowhere to be seen.

“Still, it’s kind of nice that we get another intern like this, isn’t it?”

Ji Hye spoke wistfully, her eyes distant with memories. Ji Na’s former mentor had been Do Jin. Their relationship had started that way and eventually turned romantic, leading to where they were now.

“But your mentor was Manager Kim, right? Anyway, ‘once a mentor, always a mentor’—end of discussion.”

Unaware they were dating, Ji Hye gave a thumbs-up.

“Manager Kim’s been on a roll lately. I bet he’ll get a huge bonus at year-end too—his proposal was a massive hit in the first half.”

I wrote that proposal. Ji Na forced a wry smile.

“He’s also the fastest-promoted among our batch.”

Ji Hye kept gushing in admiration.

“Doesn’t it seem like there’s something going on between him and Heo Staff? They’ve been sticking together like glue lately.”

Ji Hye’s final comment couldn’t be entirely ignored—but Ji Na couldn’t react either.

“Uh…?”

She deliberately repeated it slowly, as if Ji Hye’s words were scraping open something she’d carefully buried.

“Get a grip, Associate Lee Ji Na.”

Ji Na had once casually mentioned liking Do Jin to Ji Hye. Since they were secretly dating, she couldn’t show it openly, but Ji Hye had remembered that offhand comment all this time.

“Unrequited love can’t be helped. Only the brave, like Heo Staff, get the capable man.”

Ji Hye declared with dramatic resolve.

“And you’ve got your divine masterpiece—young, handsome junior, Associate Lee Ji Na.”

She didn’t forget to throw Ji Na a meaningful look.

“Ugh, no, it’s not like that.”

“What isn’t?”

They teased each other as they headed toward the cafeteria—just then, Do Jin passed by with a group of colleagues, likely his batchmates.

“No matter how I look at it, the intern is way better-looking than the manager. Totally different aura.”

Ji Hye declared decisively, watching their backs disappear.

“Intern love, mentor love!”

Ji Na just laughed helplessly at Ji Hye. Thanks to Ji Hye’s cheerful nature, her mood had lifted significantly.

“Hello, Associates.”

Their brief respite shattered instantly with the arrival of an unexpected figure. Ji Na and Ji Hye exchanged glances as Heo Staff entered the cafeteria.

“Mind if I join you for lunch?”

An awkward silence hung in the air before Ji Na and Ji Hye reluctantly nodded.

“Thank you.”

Heo Staff, who had been wearing a pitiful expression, immediately brightened with a smile.

“I actually wanted to ask you both for some advice.”

“Oh?”

Ji Hye responded casually. Their set meals had just been ordered, so it would take a little while.

“Aren’t you ordering food?”

Ji Na asked with concern, but Heo Staff waved her hand.

“My stomach’s been upset lately. I’m fine.”

“Oh, okay.”

They weren’t particularly close. So why ask for advice…?

“Just wondering—if an unmarried employee gets pregnant, can she still take maternity leave?”

Ji Hye, mid-sip, spat out her drink. Ji Na, equally startled, quickly handed her a tissue.

“Pregnant?”

Ji Hye asked loudly, making Heo Staff blush.

“It’s not confirmed yet—I’m going to the hospital this weekend…”

“That’s wonderful! Congratulations!”

Ji Hye offered her congratulations so straightforwardly that Heo Staff nodded bashfully.

“Thank you. But since I’m not married yet, it’s just…”

“Your boyfriend must be thrilled. These days, many couples aren’t married yet. It’s hard to get pregnant, after all. Though, Heo Staff, you are quite young.”

“I don’t have a boyfriend.”

Ji Hye, who’d been casually chewing pickled radish, spat it out this time.

“Ugh, why’s this radish so spicy?”

Ji Na quickly refilled her water cup.

“Then you’d better talk to him soon.”

“That’s right…?”

Ji Na said worriedly, and Heo Staff’s face brightened.

“Exactly. He absolutely has to take responsibility.”

“Oh, I’m so glad I asked you both. I feel so much lighter now.”

Heo Staff beamed with a radiant smile.

“Oh, it’s nothing…”

Of course you’d ask that, Ji Hye thought, setting down her empty water cup with a sour expression.

“Well, enjoy your meal. My stomach’s acting up, so I’ll head out.”

Heo Staff left the cafeteria as swiftly as the wind—as if she’d gotten a clear answer.

“I really don’t get what she’s thinking, Heo Staff.”

Ji Hye shook her head and picked up her radish again.

Ji Na just silently watched Heo Staff’s retreating figure. Today, of all days, the dark dress clinging tightly to her body looked like a shadow of misfortune heading Ji Na’s way.

***

A drowsy afternoon.

Ji Na stood before Do Jin. His unfamiliar, irritated expression as he clicked his mouse while staring at the report on his monitor felt strange.

“Ugh…”

Finally, Do Jin rubbed his face and turned to Ji Na.

“This is absolutely impossible to submit.”

It was terrible. Ji Na was painfully reminded of just how awful her report really was.

“I guess I gave you too tight a deadline.”

At Do Jin’s veiled question, Ji Na bit her lip hard.

“Oh, no, it’s not that.”

“Scrap it. Start completely fresh. Find marketing that resonates with the MZ generation—start from zero.”

She knew this project mattered to Do Jin. But strictly speaking, it was his responsibility—and yet he was dumping everything on her.

“This is honestly my best.”

At Ji Na’s words, Do Jin exhaled heavily, exhaustion written all over his face. Barely holding back his frustration, he leaned toward her.

“Ji Na, this is for us. Why can’t you understand?”

The phrase “for us” that he’d just hinted at—Ji Na couldn’t understand why, of all moments, Heo Staff’s conversation popped into her head right now.

“I really can’t do any more.”

“Hmph…”

So Ji Na stood her ground. Not out of stubbornness—because, to her, this truly was perfect.

It wasn’t about hiring some celebrity model. She believed the current trend was about sharing everyday, ordinary fashion that anyone could relate to.

“Just trust me once and submit this report. I really think it fits today’s generation.”

Ji Na’s determined eyes gleamed. Do Jin frowned, studying her for a moment, then abruptly turned his head away.

“I’ll put it on hold for now—until I come up with something better.”

A flat rejection, plain and simple.

“Lately, I wonder if we’ve just grown bored… You’re not the same as before.”

Ji Na heard Do Jin’s quiet murmur behind her as she turned to leave. She forced herself to keep walking despite her feet wanting to stop.

His irritated tone sounded like a metaphor for their relationship.

“Boredom…”

She couldn’t let that word escape her lips. Because the moment she spoke it aloud, it felt like her relationship with Do Jin would end for good.

***

Her head ached. She couldn’t even remember how she’d managed to stare at her monitor until quitting time. The office had grown somewhat busy just minutes before clock-out.

On top of that, there was a welcome dinner for the new intern scheduled.

Having to keep seeing Do Jin in this state… Ji Na slumped sideways onto her desk, pressing her throbbing temples. All she wanted was to skip the dinner. Just then, a shadow fell over her.

“You okay?”

Jin Woo’s warm voice settled over her.

“…Yeah.”

Caught off guard, Ji Na answered a beat too late. She truly had no energy—zero motivation left.

“You look exhausted…”

Strangely, the agitation in her heart quieted at the scent of Jin Woo.

“I’m fine.”

You’ve got to go—you’re the guest of honor. Ji Na forced a smile and stood up. Ji Hye, already finished with her preparations, approached with Intern Jo.

“Thanks to our two stars, we’re having dinner tonight.”

At Ji Hye’s playful remark, Intern Jo smiled shyly.

“Great. Looks like we’re stuck with overtime.”

Ji Na sighed as she rose, causing Intern Jo’s smile to stiffen awkwardly.

“Let’s go.”

She pictured Director Jung leaving early, with Do Jin trailing after him like an attendant.

“Heo Staff already left too. Let’s hurry—we’ll get scolded if we’re late.”

At Ji Hye’s lead, everyone hurried along. So no one noticed Jin Woo’s quiet, heavy gaze fixed on Ji Na as he followed last.

My Arch-enemy Sealed My Memory and Said That He is My Husband

This is an incredibly captivating story that you absolutely shouldn’t miss! I’ll give a brief introduction here, and below you’ll find a detailed synopsis of the plot.

The female lead is a fierce and powerful demon king. The male lead is a once-in-a-millennium celestial lord, admired by the entire cultivation world.

They are equally matched, legendary rivals who have battled for centuries.

In the final duel, the female lead is gravely injured. The male lead saves her, seals her memories, and hides her true identity. He tells her that he is her fiancé. His entire life has been flawless—except for the one thing he never expected, never controlled, and never wanted to control: falling for his greatest enemy. She is his inner demon, his obsession.

When the female lead regains her memories, she is furious at his deception.

She makes his life a living hell.

And somehow, the male lead—possibly a total masochist—doesn’t mind at all. In fact, he’s happy she’s paying attention to him.

Yep, we’re back to my favorite trope: male lead suffering. If you love this kind of story, jump into the pit with me now!!!

Intro

Dong Xia lost her memory.

Her handsome and extremely powerful fiancé Li Qing comforted her: “It’s okay if you can’t remember. I’ll always be with you.”

Everyone thought Dong Xia’s ancestors must have burned incense to get such a perfect fiancé. He was the number one person in the immortal realm, yet he remained chaste and only loved her.

…

The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.

She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.

Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.

No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!

Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

*

Li Qing, as the supreme being of the immortal realm, was the people’s shining beacon.

The only unknown stain in his life was his affection for Dong Xia, the ruler of the demon realm.

In the final battle of the war between immortals and demons, the sky collapsed and the earth shattered. The ruler of the demon realm was finally slain under the sword of the supreme being of the immortal realm, and everyone in the immortal realm applauded.

The cultivation world lost a ruler of the demon realm.

And in the back mountain of Li Qing’s cave dwelling, he secretly hid away a fiancée.

Notes:

1. The female lead is white on the outside, black on the inside, and the queen of flattery; the male lead repeatedly tests the edge of darkness, a VIP guest at the crematorium.

2. Fantasy cultivation world setting.
