The Mad Commander is Obsessive (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 7
Clack.
The dagger, honed as sharply as Aaron’s gaze, was tossed upward.
Catching the light and glinting, it spun through the air and settled snugly into Aaron’s hand.
Clack.
He threw the dagger back into the air once more.
His large, firm hand precisely snatched the falling hilt.
Aaron, sunk deep into his chair, kept repeating the same motion.
Clack.
From Aaron’s demeanor, one would never guess he was on a battlefield—only a languid ease radiated from him.
Yet the fingertips that caught the blade without the slightest error exuded a chilling sharpness.
“Commander, aren’t you going to work?”
A military doctor entered the tent, lifting the flap, a medical bag in hand.
“I am working. Hard.”
“It looks to me like you’re doing absolutely nothing.”
“I’m personally guarding a prisoner I went through so much trouble to capture.”
Aaron replied indifferently, his gray eyes still fixed on the woman.
The blanket’s edge rose and fell gently with the woman’s sleeping breath.
Seeing her asleep within his domain gave Aaron a strange sense of satisfaction.
With a lazy smile, Aaron tossed the dagger into the air again.
“Aren’t you overdoing it? Who guards a sleeping patient this diligently?”
“If you knew how much effort it took me to capture her, you’d never say something like that.”
Muttering grumpily, Aaron still caught the falling dagger with perfect precision.
After all, this was the prisoner he himself had captured—even pretending to be a fake captive.
When he first proposed the plan, his officers had been horrified and tried to dissuade him.
The army’s supreme commander exposing himself, bound hand and foot, to the enemy?
It was a plan so dangerous that if the enemy had discovered the ruse, his life would have been in jeopardy.
But Aaron’s obsession with his missed target was terrifyingly relentless.
No one could stand against his fierce determination.
Even the commanders who had opposed him ultimately had no choice but to follow his operation.
And now, as a result of its success, his captured prize slept soundly before him.
Sliding the dagger into its sheath, Aaron rested his elbow on the arm of the chair.
He tilted his body slightly, propping his chin on his hand.
His eyes—bearing the distinctive silver-gray hue of the Stilietz imperial bloodline—remained fixed on the woman.
“What is this woman’s true identity?”
“An enemy.”
The doctor answered indifferently, brushing past Aaron.
Frowning at the doctor’s perfunctory reply, Aaron scowled.
“I mean her real identity.”
“A prisoner.”
Tsk tsk. Aaron clicked his tongue as if utterly disappointed.
Why were all his subordinates like this?
With Colin away playing the decoy commander, even the military doctor was acting flippant now.
Unaware that the entire unit was gradually taking after their commander, Aaron muttered to himself.
“Why does it feel like my subordinates are slowly going mad?”
“Perhaps because they’re starting to resemble someone….”
The doctor’s attempt to reveal the truth was abruptly cut off by Aaron.
Aaron raised a finger to his lips, silencing him.
“Shh.”
At Aaron’s command, everything inside the tent held its breath.
Even the sunbeams piercing through the tent and the dust motes drifting between them seemed to fall silent.

Hmm.
Amidst the perfect stillness, the woman’s faint, delicate groan echoed softly.
Aaron, the doctor, and his aide-de-camp Dyke—
all three froze completely, gazing at the woman without making a sound.
Her gentle breath slipped silently among them, the only movement in the hushed space.
Her eyes remained closed in sleep.
Yet, as if disturbed by something, she frowned slightly and shifted her body.
Her golden hair, tousled by the slight movement, shimmered in the light.
After adjusting her position and a brief pause, her breathing gradually returned to a steady, even rhythm.
The blanket, now covering her differently than before, rose and fell again in regular cadence.
Haah.
All three exhaled simultaneously.
Their tensed bodies instantly relaxed.
Lungs, previously shriveled from holding their breath, expanded with fresh air.
“Then why do we need to stay quiet?”
The doctor, having confirmed the woman was asleep once more, looked at Aaron with a puzzled expression.
As far as he knew, she was the enemy—a prisoner.
“Shh. She needs to sleep more.”
Aaron’s voice had grown even lower than before.
The doctor stared at his commander, his face full of unanswered questions.
“Are you whispering like this because you’re afraid she’ll wake up?”
His own voice instinctively dropped in volume.
“She must be in a lot of pain. She keeps frowning and sweating.”
“Of course she’s in pain. We had to cut into raw flesh without any anesthesia.”
“She groaned all through the night and only just fell asleep. We can’t wake her now.”
The doctor blinked, watching his commander intently.
A commander personally tending to an enemy prisoner with such care?
Unable to suppress his curiosity, the doctor finally asked,
“Is she really that important? Important enough for you, Commander, to look after her so diligently?”
Caught off guard by the sudden question, Aaron turned his head and stared directly at the doctor.
His silver eyes gleamed with an unreadable light.
Swallowing hard under that piercing gaze, the doctor went rigid.
After a brief silence, the commander softened his expression and answered casually,
“She’s important. She’s clearly their leader.”
A chill the doctor couldn’t explain ran down his spine.
It felt as though something enormous had just brushed past him.
Instinctively sensing that digging deeper would be dangerous, he quickly dropped the question about the commander and refocused on the prisoner.
“Are you sure she’s really their leader? She looks so weak and fragile.”
The woman seemed so frail, her breath barely audible—it was hard to imagine her wielding a sword or firing a gun.
“At the very least, she’s definitely the leader of those who attacked us.”
“How can you be so sure?”
“I heard it clearly myself—everyone called her their commander.”
“Could it have been a hallucination…?”
Ignoring the doctor’s pointless suspicion, Aaron continued,
“Every single one of the men tied to the palisade moved solely under her orders.”
“Maybe she’s just a stand-in for the real commander? She looks too frail to even hold a sword properly.”
Aaron dismissed the doctor’s doubt with firm conviction.
“Their relentless attacks stopped completely the moment she was captured. Not a single assault since.”
The doctor, who had been about to move closer to examine the patient, froze.
Indeed, the incessant night-and-day ambushes had ceased entirely after her capture.

Like the receding tide, the enemy had vanished without a trace.
Blinking in disbelief, the doctor stared at the woman.
Could this delicate-looking woman truly be their leader?
“If there had been a higher authority, they would’ve launched another operation by now.”
Noticing the doctor’s reaction, Aaron gave a faint smirk and sank deeper into his chair.
He repeated the same motion as before, but this time moved carefully, tensing his muscles to avoid making noise.
As a result, not a single sound escaped.
“Ahh.”
The doctor let out a deep sigh and leaned closer to the commander.
Lowering his voice so no one else could hear, he asked,
“Then shouldn’t we kill her quickly? Eliminating the enemy’s leader is the most efficient tactic.”
“We can’t kill her. Precisely because she’s their leader.”
Confused by Aaron’s odd reasoning, the doctor tilted his head.
“That doesn’t make any sense.”
Aaron chuckled softly at the question.
“The group following her isn’t just some ragtag militia.”
“Then what are they?”
“They’re elite troops with advanced training. Ordinary citizens couldn’t possibly form such a disciplined force.”
Aaron’s gaze drifted from the foot of the bed up along the woman’s shimmering golden hair to her face.
Her eyes remained closed.
What a beautiful shade of blue they were.
“Though their weapons were outdated, they were well-maintained, and their command structure was perfectly organized.”
“Then shouldn’t we eliminate her even more urgently?”
“Doctor, stop thinking only about killing. Use your head.”
The doctor looked at Aaron with a wounded expression.
He had gone to such lengths to save her—
and now the commander was making him feel like a mere executioner.
“Why would well-trained elite soldiers follow a woman? It’s different from a man simply commanding through strength.”
“How so?”
“It’s obvious she didn’t dominate those men through brute force—yet they showed absolute obedience.”
The doctor recalled the woman’s arm that he had treated.
Her arm was so slender it seemed doubtful she could even lift a sword.
“There must be something else about her—power, skill, or perhaps her status… maybe even that she’s a holy maiden receiving divine revelation….”
Aaron’s trailing words drifted toward the woman.
A slender sunbeam piercing through the tent scattered upon her long eyelashes.
Particles of light, reflected from her golden hair, floated gently around her.
“Someone important enough to command elite troops.”
“The more you explain, the more confused I get.”
“In any case, my gut tells me this woman will play a crucial role before the great war against Iorenti.”
“How so?”
“If she turns out to be a high-ranking noble or a holy maiden, an official request for prisoner negotiations will likely follow—and that could end this tedious war quickly.”
And once his curiosity about her was satisfied, that burning thirst within him would finally be quenched.
Aaron rose and walked toward the table where a water jug sat.
He drank the clear, transparent water—reminiscent of the woman’s eyes—refreshingly.
“That way, I might get home even sooner than planned.”
At the word “home,” the doctor’s expression changed instantly.
If returning home quickly was possible, then he would pledge his loyalty—not to the beautiful prisoner before him, but to the commander.
Gripping his bag firmly, the doctor declared resolutely,
“Then I shall devote myself entirely to treating this patient.”
“Good. Do your best.”

“Yes, sir!”
Watching the newly motivated doctor, Aaron called out to his waiting aide-de-camp, Dyke.
“Dyke. Send word to Day. There’s someone whose identity we need to uncover.”
“Yes, Commander.”
Dyke bowed and left the tent to carry out Aaron’s order.
In the meantime, the doctor quietly approached the woman and gently pulled back the blanket.
Her body, clad in Aaron’s pristine white shirt, was revealed.
The doctor carefully undid the top buttons.
He moved with extreme caution so as not to wake the deeply sleeping woman.
Aaron glanced briefly at the doctor’s hands and spoke.
“Her fever broke at dawn, and the bleeding has stopped. The surgery seems to have gone well. Just disinfect and re-wrap the bandages.”
The doctor paused mid-button.
When he turned to look at the commander, Aaron’s eyes had already shifted to the military documents on the table.
“Commander… did you nurse her through the night?”
He asked the question but immediately bit his tongue.
He recalled Aaron’s sharp reaction just moments earlier.
But unlike the doctor’s worries, Aaron calmly continued flipping through the documents.
Through their conversation, everything had become clear.
Now he understood why he had gone to such lengths to care for this prisoner.
She held value as a captive.
Once her true identity was revealed and fully exploited, that inexplicable thirst within him would surely fade.
With this realization, his mind felt lighter.
Smiling leisurely, Aaron finally answered the doctor’s earlier unanswered question.
“Of course. She’s my precious prisoner.”

…
The day before marrying her fiancé, Dong Xia finally remembered everything.
She wasn’t suffering from memory loss at all.
Her arch-enemy had made her fake her death, destroyed her cultivation, replaced her memories, and pretended to be her deeply in love fiancé.
No wonder he said, “It’s okay if you can’t remember”!
Dong Xia laughed coldly as she pulled out her long knife: Li Qing, prepare to die 🙂

Wow the tension between these two is something else.
Good job Del! Looks like in the end she has won the wager.
If the fate of the crown prince is unknown, why would they send away the only other heir?
