Delia, captured by Aaron, tensed her arm to break free.

“Are you going to let go right now?”

Aaron sighed, watching Delia struggle to escape.

All his careful effort to hold her wrist gently was wasted, as Delia was already exerting strong force with her arm.

At this rate, her stitched-up wound might tear open—who knew what would happen then.

It seemed it was time to end this game already.

“Prisoner. That’s enough playing around. Drop the gun!!”

“Do you really think this is a joke?”

“I’d love to keep playing too, but you’re a patient, Prisoner. Let’s call it a day.”

“I’m not playing.”

Though she had just failed an assassination attempt, Aaron’s prisoner showed no sign of exhaustion, charging at him without conceding a single word.

If left alone, she’d probably chatter on endlessly about attempting another assassination without sleeping at all.

She needed proper rest and sleep if she wanted to recover quickly.

Aaron gently soothed Delia’s wrist, calming his prisoner.

“Yes, yes. You say you’re not playing.”

“I attacked you with all my sincerity.”

“Fine, I get it. Don’t get angry—it’s bad for your wound’s recovery.”

“I was trying to kill you.”

“Yes. I was really scared—because Prisoner attacked me sincerely. Now, enough?”

Delia let out a disheartened sigh.

“Hah, honestly.”

In Aaron’s relaxed breathing, there was no trace of the tension one would expect from someone who had nearly been assassinated.

Delia looked up at Aaron, who held her captive, with an incredulous expression.

Seeing the playful glint dancing in his softly curved eyes, Delia’s killing intent lost its strength.

She only felt foolish for having attacked so seriously.

“I’ve never felt this annoyed before, even when someone acknowledged what I said.”

“Anyway, it’s dangerous—just drop the gun quickly.”

Aaron carefully removed Delia’s weapons one by one.

He took away her gun, pushed it aside, and even pulled out the hidden blade concealed in her tightly clenched hand, tossing it under the table.

His touch was firm yet cautious, like taking a dangerous toy away from a child.

Then he lifted Delia’s wrist and examined it meticulously.

The rope marks hadn’t even fully healed yet, so he gently rubbed the spot where a bruise might have formed.

“You’re not even fully recovered yet—don’t push yourself so hard. You’ll just hurt yourself again.”

Aaron gathered both of Delia’s hands and held them firmly in one of his.

With his other hand, he brushed aside her hair, which glowed faintly even in the darkness.

He gently smoothed out Delia’s tousled hair from her struggling.

His touch felt like handling delicate sugar confections—too precious to eat, too delightful to leave alone, as if they might melt at a single touch.

Under the sweetness of his touch, Delia’s rigid body gradually relaxed.

“Who are you worried about? If I succeed, it’s you who’ll get hurt.”

Delia tried to sound resolute, as if to salvage her crumbling pride, but her voice already lacked strength.

Noticing the shift in Delia’s demeanor, Aaron replied calmly and kept moving his hand.

“Because it’s impossible.”

Soon, Aaron’s large hand had traveled down Delia’s slender neck to tend to her wound.

He carefully checked whether the wound had reopened from her violent movements or if the bandage had come loose.

“What if I succeed in assassinating you?”

“I already told you—you won’t succeed.”

Delia, who had surrendered both hands to Aaron, frowned.

It was infuriating how he paid more attention to her injuries than to the wounds she’d inflicted on him.

Her own attacks apparently hadn’t even registered as a threat to him.

Feeling unjustly resentful, Delia pouted and muttered,

“Just because I failed today doesn’t mean tomorrow won’t be different.”

Aaron, who had been checking Delia’s arm, asked with curiosity,

“You’ll try again tomorrow?”

“Of course. I’ll keep challenging you until I escape.”

Aaron looked at his prisoner and gave a soft chuckle.

Though she hadn’t yielded a single word and kept chattering on, her arm lay limply in Aaron’s grasp, having given up.

Sensing her spirit had finally deflated, Aaron released Delia at last.

“Alright. Go ahead and try as much as you like. Sounds fun.”

“It’s not for fun.”

“Yes, I know—you’re serious. Anyway, Prisoner, that’s enough for today.”

Aaron suppressed his reluctant feelings and gently stroked Delia’s hair.

The more he learned about her, the more intriguing she became—but she was still a patient who needed rest.

Now was the time to let her recover and sleep.

“Go to sleep quickly. You’ll need rest if you want to attempt another assassination or attack again tomorrow.”

“Just wait and see. I’ll succeed and make you regret it so deeply you won’t even be able to breathe.”

“Will I really have something to regret? Go ahead and make me regret it. If you do, I’ll do exactly as you say, Prisoner.”

At Aaron’s teasing words, Delia roughly turned her head away to avoid his touch.

This eccentric commander clearly regarded her attacks as little more than arrows shot by Lilliputians.

Tiny arrows launched by dwarves—hitting him, yet causing no more than a tickle.

No matter how fiercely she attacked and rebelled, Delia couldn’t affect him in the slightest.

Realizing the overwhelming gap in their strength, Delia closed her eyes in exhaustion.

“What am I supposed to do?”

Aaron watched Delia, who now turned away from him, hesitated briefly, then gently scooped her up in his arms.

Delia jolted in surprise at the sudden feeling of floating and squirmed.

“Ah! What are you doing? Put me down! I’ll walk on my own legs.”

“I’m worried you’ll run away on those two legs.”

“I won’t run away until I kill you, Commander. Put me down!”

“That’d actually be better. Running away scares me more than you trying to kill me. Considering how hard I worked to catch you, I’m almost grateful you’re attacking me like this instead.”

Aaron grumbled playfully as he laid Delia down onto the bed.

Delia’s assassination attempt ended pitifully and brought her right back to where she started.

As if nothing had happened, everything returned to normal.

“But, Commander.”

Except for that commander.

Delia’s cold voice seeped into the softly dreamlike atmosphere created by the darkness.

“Why are you lying here with me?”

“Sleeping in that chair is too uncomfortable.”

Aaron grumbled as he settled down beside Delia.

The slight movement of him lying down on the bed transmitted through to Delia.

Delia turned pale and sat bolt upright.

“Then I’ll go sleep in the chair.”

But in an instant, he grabbed her shoulder and laid her back down on the bed.

“You’re still a patient. You need to sleep comfortably to recover quickly.”

“This is even more uncomfortable. Sharing a bed isn’t something a prisoner and commander should do.”

“That’s exactly why you’d sneak around! I finally untied you, and you’d just wander about instead of sleeping.”

“Then just tie me up—with rope. How can we possibly share a bed? We’re enemies.”

Aaron firmly held Delia’s wrist as she tried to pull away.

“I’d tie you like this.”

But tying her again would leave bruises on her wrists, and leaving her untied meant she’d probably creep around all night trying to assassinate him.

This was, to Aaron, the best option.

“Don’t think of me as a person—think of me as rope. The rope used to tie up a prisoner.”

Even as Delia struggled to free his hand, Aaron closed his eyes calmly as if nothing was happening and drifted off to sleep.

Delia stared blankly at his profile beside her, now peacefully asleep.

Ah. This insane Commander.

She’d been caught by a commander mad enough to mistake himself for a rope.

On Mount Tarence, bathed in warm sunlight, the leisurely sound of hoofbeats echoed.

Aaron lightly glanced around, sensing the sweet scent of Delia carried by the forest breeze.

What should he feed his prisoner?

His eyes sharpened as he slowly guided his horse, scanning for prey.

According to the army medic who examined the prisoner, she was in a severely weakened state.

Eating well would help her wounds heal faster and build the strength needed to fight off infection.

Following the medic’s advice, Aaron had taken his prisoner out hunting.

Whoosh.

While Aaron glanced around briefly, Delia’s body swayed like a leaf.

Instinctively, Aaron’s arm tightened around her.

He’d lost count of how many times he’d already caught her as she nearly slipped off from losing balance.

How carefree his prisoner was.

Even while riding a horse held by the enemy, she had fallen asleep, nodding off peacefully.

“Tsk, tsk. You should’ve just slept soundly last night instead of recklessly attacking me.”

Aaron clicked his tongue, watching his prisoner sleep nestled against him.

He’d finally untied her, only for her to wave a knife around claiming she’d assassinate the commander, forcing him to hold her wrist all night just to sleep.

Ever since then, his prisoner had started complaining.

She’d grumbled all night about being captured by the enemy and stuck like this, about how that crazy “rope” made her wrist uncomfortable…

Now, nestled in his arms, she slept so peacefully.

The prisoner’s deep, rhythmic breaths mingled with the forest’s scent, brushing against Aaron’s chest.

Dyke approached Aaron, who was riding with a faint smile.

“Commander. I see a deer over there.”

“Shh. Just let it go for now.”

It was a lucky deer.

Thanks to the sleeping prisoner, it had saved its life.

Just who exactly was this prisoner?

Aaron recalled last night as he looked at the wound she’d left on him.

She clearly didn’t slack in training—her body was lean, and her movements exceptionally agile.

She handled a gun skillfully; had he not removed the gunpowder in advance, she might have posed a serious threat.

She never showed fear even in front of armed soldiers, and even boldly bossed around the commander himself.

Moreover, she had loyal subordinates lingering nearby, refusing to leave, devoted to the point of stubbornness.

He’d thought capturing her would reveal her identity, but observing her closely only made her more mysterious.

To make Aaron ponder so deeply—she was, in a way, an extraordinary prisoner.

Aaron’s breath stirred the golden strands of hair as he gazed at his prisoner.

The rhythmic clatter of hooves echoed along the quiet forest path.

A gentle breeze rustled through the trees, cool against their skin.

Sunlight filtered through the leaves, shimmering like golden coins.

Aaron’s brow furrowed slightly as he rode leisurely.

“Prisoner. Stop groping.”

Delia’s hands, which had been wandering around his waist, froze at the sudden voice from above.

She slowly opened her tightly shut eyes and looked around.

“Didn’t they teach you it’s dangerous to provoke someone like that?”

Aaron’s low voice reverberated through their touching bodies straight to her heart.

“Tch.”

Delia finally opened her eyes fully and pulled her hands away from his waist.

Pouting, she rubbed her eyes lightly with her knuckles to wake herself up.

“I was just half-asleep. It was unconscious.”

After tossing and turning all night, she’d only managed to fall asleep this morning.

Dragged along on this hunting trip, she’d grown so drowsy.

She’d only closed her eyes for a moment, but when she came to, she was already leaning against him, fast asleep.

The steady heartbeat from his firm chest had felt so peaceful that she’d unconsciously wrapped her arms around his waist—but he hadn’t reacted at all.

Emboldened, Delia kept pretending to sleep while subtly moving her hands.

Searching for any hidden weapons that might be there.

“Do you really think I can’t tell the difference between unconsciously holding someone in sleep and deliberately groping them?”

At the obviously transparent lie, Aaron let out a soft chuckle.

Regret With All Your Might (Completed Main Story)

27/12/2025
Side Story 5 Side Story 4

Male lead is a Divorced Husband

She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.

After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.

She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.

But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…

Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

――

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!

The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.

That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”

Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”

The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”

That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”

Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”

The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.

Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.

“She was originally a ‘she’!”

At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.

The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”

Or is the queen perhaps grieving that her son will be deposed and wants to send Delia away so there is noone to replace the crown prince?
