The Heiress in Blue (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
Sanha, who had been sitting beside Hae Il reading a book to him, turned his head at the sound of a knock.
The hospital room door opened, and the head nurse entered.
“Director, it’s best you get up now. Madam is on her way.”
“Is that so?”
“She said she’d come this evening, but she’s arriving earlier than expected.”
Though about ten pages remained until the book’s conclusion, Sanha stood up.
“Thank you.”
At Sanha’s words of gratitude, she bowed her head and quietly withdrew.
He walked over to the sofa, picked up the padded jacket he’d left there, and returned to Hae Il’s side.
“Your mother is coming. I’ll come back later.”
After carefully tucking in the sheets, Sanha left the hospital room.
*
“How long do we have to stay here?”
Jeong Mi said, opening the door to the VIP lounge.
In her fifties,
she entered with her ample figure, followed by her family.
Gi Taek, slightly slender in build, sat on the best seat of the sofa and spoke.
“What are you complaining about? We’ve barely waited at all. Don’t you dare say that in front of our sister.”
Gi Taek warned her.
“Who said I was talking in front of my brother? But we’ve been stuck in this hospital all day. What’s the point of keeping busy people here like this?”
“Do you even have a brain? Don’t you realize how critical this situation is? Stop spouting nonsense and just shut your mouth for once. And where’s Ha Eun? Why hasn’t she come back yet?”
“She’s in Busan. She’s on her way up now.”
“She didn’t go cause another accident, did she?”
“What do you know about our daughter to say she’s some accident-prone troublemaker?”
“Well, isn’t she? Always doing whatever she pleases and summoning lawyers from the legal team—that’s her ‘job.’ For heaven’s sake, please just stay quiet. Every time Ha Eun causes a scandal, I can’t even look my sister in the eye.”
Scolded by Gi Taek, Jeong Mi closed her previously pouting mouth.
“In any case, let’s all pray for Jeong Hyun to wake up. Understood?”
Feeling stifled, he stepped back outside.
The moment the door closed behind him, Jeong Mi spoke.
“Pray for Jeong Hyun to wake up? Are you insane? I feel like dancing with joy.”
Hearing Jeong Mi’s snort, In Pyo spoke.
“Mom, watch your words.”
The man in his early thirties, dressed in a sharp suit, was Gi Taek and Jeong Mi’s son.
“What did I say that I shouldn’t have? Once Jeong Hyun is gone, you’ll become the perfect heir to PR Group, right? My son sure was born lucky. How conveniently that accident happened, just like that?”
“I’m telling you to be careful. There are plenty of people around here. What if Aunt hears it by accident?”
In Pyo needlessly scanned the spacious lounge once again.
“Who else is here besides us? And the people outside are already on our side. Didn’t you hear what the doctor said? Jeong Hyun’s heart ruptured—not to mention his other organs. Even with an oxygen ventilator, he’s practically dead already. They say it’s risky just flying him to a hospital in the U.S.—so what are we even hoping for?”
“Mom, please.”
“Well, Jeong Hyun will eventually pass, and the group will fall into our hands. Honestly, thinking about that, I can easily endure a few more hours in this stuffy hospital.”
“Mother, please choose your words more carefully. You sound utterly graceless.”
Jeong Mi’s gaze fell upon the elegantly dressed woman seated across from her.
“Grace?”
“In Pyo is absolutely right. What if someone overhears you talking like that?”
“Maybe you should try boiling that ‘grace’ and eating it?”
“What did you say?”
“Anyone seeing us would think you’re the mother-in-law and I’m the daughter-in-law. Are you looking down on me because I only graduated from high school?”
“Brother isn’t wrong at all. Please act more composed. How can you say such things when Aunt is facing such great sorrow?”
Suddenly, Jeong Mi burst into laughter.
“Be honest—if Jeong Hyun dies, you’ll be the one dancing for joy, won’t you, Sofia?”
“Mother!”
Trending
“Why so serious? Did you cause Jeong Hyun’s accident?”
“Watch your tongue!”
Seeing Sofia flinch, Jeong Mi laughed even harder.
“You must feel amazing right now, right? Of course you do. If Jeong Hyun dies, your husband becomes PR Group’s heir. And yet, you’re putting on this fake noble act?”
“…You’re truly vulgar.”
At that moment, Jeong Mi slammed her hand on the sofa armrest and shouted,
“Vulgar? How dare you speak to your mother-in-law like that? And unlike you—a deceitful, two-faced schemer—I’m simply honest and straightforward.”
“You’re not honest and straightforward—you’re just crude.”
“So you really have no fear of your mother-in-law at all? Is that how they taught you in your fancy, ‘cultured’ household?”
In Pyo quickly stepped between the two women, whose tempers were flaring.
“Enough.”
“Don’t you see? That stuck-up daughter-in-law is disrespecting your mother.”
Sofia tried to retort, but In Pyo grabbed her hand.
“Stop it. Raising your voice here won’t do anyone any good. Are you really that foolish?”
Though clearly frustrated, Sofia closed her mouth.
Seeing his son take her side, Jeong Mi grew even more smug.
“By the way, dear—Aunt wouldn’t have any special intentions toward that girl, would she?”
After a brief silence, Sofia asked,
“What do you mean?”
“She wouldn’t possibly name that girl as her successor, would she? Otherwise, why sign such a contract?”
Jeong Mi, who had been in high spirits just moments ago, instantly glared at Sofia.
“What ill-omened nonsense are you spouting? Why would she give anything to that damn—”
“But Jeong Yeoreum is Aunt’s only blood relative.”
“You saw how Brother treated that mother-daughter pair just now—absolute mortal enemies.”
“Still, you never know. Blood is blood.”
“Listen, your aunt isn’t like that. She cut ties with her only son for twenty years—doesn’t that tell you something? And do you really think she’d make such a proposal unless she utterly despised them? It’s pure revenge.”
In Pyo interjected,
“What if it’s not that?”
“What?”
“What if Aunt is pulling some scheme involving that girl?”
Seeing her son and daughter-in-law looking grave, Jeong Mi waved her hand dismissively.
“Why are you two acting so paranoid? If your aunt really wanted to make that girl her successor, she’d just bring her right away and say, ‘I’ll save your father’s life if you hand over the next twenty years of your life to me.’ And that’d come with conditions—cutting all ties with your parents and obeying your aunt’s every command. That’s slavery disguised with polite words.”
Jeong Mi shook her head, convinced the idea was absurd.
“So Aunt truly has no special designs on Jeong Yeoreum, right?”
“You don’t need to worry about her. Besides, isn’t she the one who was only ever thinking about becoming a teacher?”
“That’s exactly right, Mom.”
It was In Pyo.
“Really?”
“Yes. I confirmed it myself. She graduated from the history department and is about to be appointed as a history teacher. She’s just an ordinary twenty-five-year-old who knows nothing about how the world works. Someone that normal is easy to manage.”
“She seemed strong-willed to me. Didn’t you see how she talked back to Aunt just now?”
Seeing Sofia still uneasy, Jeong Mi reassured her,
“That’s just a puppy who doesn’t know a tiger’s frightening—because she’s never seen one. And with her father’s life on the line, what else would she see? She grew up in Busan—so unsophisticated. A total country bumpkin. I can’t believe Jeong Hyun raised his daughter like that.”
Though Sofia still looked uneasy, Jeong Mi gave her a look that clearly said, “Don’t worry about it.”
Just then, a knock came, and a secretary entered.
“The representative says it’s time to leave.”
“Seriously? What exactly does he want us to do out there? He’s exhausting.”
Though everyone clearly looked annoyed, they had no choice but to head out at Gi Taek’s call.
The lounge fell silent once again.
At that moment, something stirred behind the sofa by the window.
It was Sanha, sitting up slowly from where he’d lain, using his padded jacket as a cushion.

He turned toward the entrance.
‘…Jeong Yeoreum, was it?’
No way.
But twenty-five years old—and from Busan.
Sanha looked down at the back of his left hand.
“Could that Kkachi possibly be…?”
*
“Mom, stop crying. You’ll faint if you keep this up.”
Yeoreum tried to comfort her, but Se Jin couldn’t stop sobbing.
She buried her face in her husband’s hospital bed and kept crying.
“Oh, Mom…”
“…Does this even make sense? Is this… even possible? What have I done…”
Soon, her parents would be leaving for America.
Having just heard the news that they should prepare to leave, Se Jin’s sobs grew even louder.
Yeoreum held her mother tightly, pressing her own face against her back.
“Don’t cry. We’ve been given a chance to save Dad. And contracts can always be changed later.”
Hearing this, Se Jin, who had kept her face buried, finally lifted her head to look at Yeoreum.
“…No.”
She shook her head.
“No one else—but not your grandmother. She’s absolutely not the type to do that.”
Maybe she was right.
After all, despite her hatred, she’d severed ties with her only son for twenty years.
And demanding such an absurd contract…
But Yeoreum couldn’t say those thoughts aloud in this situation.
“Mom, don’t think about anything else. Just focus on living happily with Dad.”
“…Yeoreum.”
“I’m staying here no matter what. So you have to hold on too. No matter what. Understand?”
Se Jin cried even harder but nodded her head.
Honestly, Yeoreum wanted to cry too.
But she clenched her teeth and held it in.
If she cried here, how much more pain would it cause her mom?
So she just held her tighter.
She wouldn’t be able to feel this warmth for a while.
Thus, she focused all her senses on memorizing it.
“Dad might get jealous if I keep hugging only you like this.”
Smiling faintly, Yeoreum stood up and walked over to Jeong Hyun’s bedside.
Just as she’d done with her mother, she carefully wrapped her arms around him.
She whispered softly to him,
“Dad, you have to wake up soon. The Kim Se Jin who loves you more than anyone in the world is crying. I won’t say it’s embarrassing anymore when you carry Mom on your back, so please wake up soon. Okay?”
Yeoreum pressed her forehead gently against her silent father’s.
Hot tears welled up from deep in her chest, but she gritted her teeth.
“I love you, Dad. Your daughter Yeoreum truly loves you—so just sleep a little longer, then wake up quickly.”
Se Jin, who had been holding back, began crying again.
Yeoreum rubbed her face against her father’s cheek, bidding him farewell.
Just then, a knock sounded, and the hospital room door opened.
It was Chairwoman Kang Ju Hwa and the medical team.
They bowed slightly, then wheeled Jeong Hyun’s bed out.
As they exited the lobby, an ambulance was already waiting.
Jeong Hyun’s bed was loaded inside, and Se Jin took a seat beside him.
When Yeoreum tried to climb in, Ju Hwa blocked her path.

“You can’t come.”
“I’ll just see them off at the airport.”
“No. This is where it ends.”
Se Jin immediately started crying again.
Desperate, Yeoreum pleaded,
“If we part like this, we won’t see each other for twenty years—can’t you even let me watch them board the plane?”
“Don’t you remember the contract? It takes effect today.”
Yeoreum glared at Ju Hwa standing before her, but only a cold smile lingered at the woman’s lips.
Helpless, Yeoreum turned to Se Jin.
“Mom, travel safely.”
“Yeoreum…”
“You have to take care of your health while taking care of Dad. Promise you’ll eat well. Okay?”
As Se Jin burst into tears again and tried to get down, Ju Hwa signaled with her eyes.
The ambulance doors closed shut.
“Yeoreum!”
Her mother’s sobbing cried out loudly.
But the ambulance drove off.
“Chairwoman.”
Where the ambulance had been, a line of black sedans approached.
Without a word, Ju Hwa got into one.
As the sedan carrying her pulled away, Gi Taek and his family followed behind.
“Miss.”
The middle-aged man was Chief Secretary Ahn, Ju Hwa’s secretary.
He approached Yeoreum, who stood staring blankly in the direction the ambulance had vanished, and spoke gently.
“It’s time to go.”
“…Just five more minutes.”
Yeoreum turned to him and said,
“I’ll go to the restroom and come right back—is that enough time?”
“Yes.”
As soon as he answered, Yeoreum reentered the lobby.
But instead of heading to the restroom, she ran toward another exit.
Air ducts lined the area densely, making loud clanging noises.
Perhaps because of the noise, no one was around—only thick shrubs filled the flowerbeds.
Rushing into that spot, Yeoreum looked up at the sky and took a rough, shuddering breath.
But soon, her tears burst forth uncontrollably.
Sanha, who had hurried after her, leaned against a wall nearby and watched silently.
Amid the clanging sounds, her heart-wrenching sobs continued for a long while.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
