Back in her bedroom, Yuli picked up her phone to call him. But in the end, she couldn’t press the call button. She needed him more than ever—but precisely because of that, she couldn’t reach out.

Yuli gripped her trembling phone, staring fixedly at Jae Ho’s number, then set it down again.

The next day, Yuli arrived at the office earlier than usual. As if by telepathy, Jae Ho also walked into the office early. Though they were secretly dating and couldn’t show anything at work, since no one else had arrived yet, Jae Ho walked straight over to Yuli, who was already seated.

“Did you rest well at home yesterday?”

He asked softly, gently brushing her hair aside.

“How’s your body feeling?”

Yuli stayed silent and let him touch her hair. She’d meant to turn away and ignore him, but her body wouldn’t obey—only her intention remained. She felt irritated at how easily she crumbled at just this small gesture, yet she couldn’t help it.

Jae Ho bent down and naturally pulled Yuli, who was sitting in her chair, into his arms. It was maddening—even though he’d only held her lightly, Yuli felt as if her heart had dropped straight into her stomach. Maybe it was because she’d missed him all night long. Without sleeping pills, she would have spent the entire night wide awake. So she had to say it now.

“Please…”

Yuli closed her eyes and spoke with difficulty.

“Could you hold back for a while?”

At those words, Jae Ho loosened his arms and stepped back to meet her gaze, his brows furrowing slightly as if asking what she meant.

“Last night, sleeping alone actually felt really comfortable. I slept soundly even while you were away on your business trip.”

Jae Ho’s expression shifted subtly, but Yuli ignored it and continued.
