Return? It was different from what I knew.

I tried to recall what Sir Mail Bell had told me.

‘The document she sent must surely be evidence of Alexandre’s attempted treason.’

But the timing—supposed to arrive just before the outbreak of war—was slightly off. Apparently, Sir Bell’s prediction and the actual arrival time didn’t quite match.

“I understand.”

At that moment, the man bowed his head without hesitation and placed Sir Bell’s document envelope into a return cart. I, who had been watching calmly, assuming the document would naturally go to the king, was genuinely startled.

“No! That’s an incredibly important document!”

Both the viscount and the man instantly turned toward me, eyes wide open, neither knowing who spoke first.

‘Oops!’

I quickly ducked low and hid in a dark corner.

After all, that document was destined to reach the king anyway. In other words, I didn’t need to interfere—but I’d blurted out a shout without even realizing it.

‘Ah, I should’ve held back, even if it was frustrating.’

While I silently scolded myself, both men’s faces turned deathly pale—after all, there was no one where I stood.

“D-d-did you just hear that?”

“W-was that not a hallucination?”
