Sharti was forcing her sluggish, dragging steps to quicken as she retraced her path. Yet the journey back to the cave through the torrential downpour was unbearably treacherous.

Her slender body kept slipping into the mud and was constantly knocked over by the pounding rain.

‘That… that was close.’

Sharti gritted her teeth against the pain in her palm, scraped raw against a stone, and pushed strength into her legs. Not a single spot remained dry, and not a single limb stopped trembling.

The umbrella she’d confidently brought along was no better than a mere leaf amidst the deluge.

‘At least I found all the ingredients—that’s something.’

She could only call it luck. Every time she fell or got swept away, she happened to find the exact herb she needed.

Thinking of the herbs carefully tucked inside her robe, Sharti painfully trudged upward.

Her right leg throbbed, but thanks to having leaned on Ren all this time, she could manage this much strain.

Winter rain chilled her to the bone.

Her robe had stiffened from the cold, frozen solid while still soaked, and every time the hood brushed her cheek, it jolted her wide awake.

‘At this rate, we’ll both be bedridden tomorrow without a doubt.’

Sharti sniffled softly, craving warmth desperately.

She’d left the heat-emitting mana stone in Ren’s sleeping hand before leaving.
