Even though it was daytime, the sky was completely covered by dark clouds, casting a gloomy shadow. Raindrops that had seemed light at first quickly turned into heavy downpours, stabbing straight down.

‘It hasn’t even been that long since the snow fell… how can it rain like this now?’

She’d suspected something might happen—the overcast weather had persisted for several days already.

‘Looks like I’m stuck here for good today.’

Though it didn’t seem like a storm that would last long, it also wasn’t about to stop anytime soon.

Fortunately, Sharti and Ren had taken shelter inside the cave the moment the rain started, so at least they avoided getting soaked.

Sharti shook off her uneasy feelings and surveyed the interior of the cave. The cave they’d luckily found had more space inside than expected—enough room for two people to stretch out and lie down comfortably.

‘Hmm… still feels unsafe. Maybe I should dig a trench near the entrance?’

Already, melted snow mixed with rainwater was forming muddy puddles around the cave’s mouth. Though the slight slope kept things manageable for now, leaving it unattended could lead to flooding inside the cave.

Sharti took off her precious fur coat and rummaged through her bag to pull out a robe, which she quickly put on.

“Ren, I think we should dig right here in front…”

Sharti, holding a shovel firmly in hand, turned toward Ren.

Normally, Ren would have inspected the inner part of the cave before her—but now he stood frozen, expression rigid and unmoving.

“Ren?”
