Herdin returned to his bedroom only late at night.
During the day, he kept his distance from Blair, but at night he came back to sleep in their room. After all, since she became pregnant, his wife had been sleeping deeply by the time he returned.
Expecting Blair to be asleep as usual, he stepped into the bedroom—only to freeze upon meeting her violet eyes.
Blair was still awake. She looked as though she had been waiting for him.
Herdin approached and sat beside Blair, who was leaning against the bed. As if she had been waiting for this moment, she handed him a letter stamped with the Nerha crest.
“I received an invitation to a banquet from Lord Nerha.”
Herdin let out a wry chuckle at the sight of it. He briefly entertained the foolish notion that there might be some other reason behind it.
Herdin took the invitation Blair offered him.
It was a purely formal invitation stating that a banquet would be held at the mansion in three days and requesting their gracious presence to honor the occasion.
Raymond’s intentions were obvious.
While inviting Herdin and Blair was partly due to the impossibility of ignoring guests staying at his estate, his greater motive was clearly to forge connections.
Delmarque was not only a rival in the harbor business on a small scale but also a major client managing vast imperial territories on a grander scale.
Though he would have preferred to decline the invitation outright, refusing the host’s invitation while staying in the estate’s annex would have been impolite.
After checking the date on the invitation, Herdin set it down on the nightstand and said,
“I’ll attend the banquet alone. You rest.”

Thinking she was drowning, he jumped in without hesitation to save her, but nearly drowned himself. In the end, it was she who swam over to rescue him, giving him air underwater.
After emerging from the water, his ear tips turned red. He lightly brushed his cheek, tucking his sideburns behind his ear, revealing delicate, pink-tinged ear tips. He lowered his gaze, too embarrassed to look at her.
Xin Jiao Zhou: He’s truly beautiful, kind-hearted, and adorable.

Gerard is a character who would be much better if we explored his past more. I mean, he’s evil in a very calculated, almost professional way—and his hatred and jealousy toward Kaison are so intense that they even carried over to his son. That’s terrifying.
All of this just because Kaison rejected him when he was 7?! Seriously!
I didn’t really understand the second “restriction” very well—could someone explain it to me? What I understood is that in order to control their power and make it stronger, they take from the life of the person they love.
But I didn’t understand how he managed to defeat Kaison. Didn’t Kaison kill his wife? (Assuming that when the person they love dies, they lose control of their power and die as well.) So how did Kaison lose control before killing her?
Gerard really said “40-year revenge arc, no breaks” 💀 dude is beyond unhinged
Meanwhile Herdin acting all soft with Blair like nothing happened… and she’s like “I don’t care” but still says come back safe 🤨

I’m really trying to understand Miera’s motivations for why she’s going so crazy over Herdin and ruining Blair’s image. For now it just seems like she’s very shallow, her motivations are not well explained, only that she has a crush on the Duke. But now that she understands that the Duke wants to be with Blair, why isn’t she backing off? Is she really that evil? Isn’t she supposed to be a priestess?? I’m personally someone religious and seeing this character who has a relationship with god, be so unfearful. She must think she’s doing the right thing.
