The Beloved Youngest Daughter of the Lord Family - Chapter 15
“Where the hell could our little brat be hiding?”
Wheww—wee! A playful whistle drifted away on the wind.
As the sound of several rough-voiced men chuckling among themselves drew closer, the tense boy gulped down a dry swallow.
“Come on out, sweet little one—don’t make us chase you anymore.”
“You can’t run any farther. Come out nicely now, and maybe you’ll get hit just a little less.”
Damn it.
The golden-eyed boy muttered a low curse and quickly scanned his surroundings.
Though he was still far enough from them, the forest was thick with trees far too large, offering no bushes small enough to conceal his slight frame.
There were at least six men chasing him.
And with his injured leg, moving quickly was impossible.
All the boy could do in this situation was to keep slipping from tree to tree, hiding as best he could while fleeing.
“Damn. The moonlight’s far too bright.”
He looked up at the night sky with resentful eyes.
Just yesterday, the heavens had been overcast, threatening rain—but now, in place of those dark clouds, a brilliant full moon shone down.
That brilliantly clear, arrogant moon seemed to mock him outright,
whispering: “You’ll never be free.”
“If they catch me… I’ll spend the rest of my life as a slave.”
The boy, a Benian, had been hunted since birth.
Because Benians were a rare race, they were prized by greedy demon hunters as magical test subjects.
Humans also scorned and persecuted them as monsters, leaving them no place to settle anywhere on the continent.
“I have to get farther from these hunters.”
If he stayed put any longer, they’d catch him for sure.
He had to move—even just a little…
“Damn it… my leg…”
What he’d thought was merely a sprain appeared far worse than expected.
The injured ankle was swollen to the size of a fist, and judging by its unnatural angle, it was almost certainly broken.
Letting out a soft groan, the boy painfully pushed himself up and dragged his injured leg forward through the rough forest path.
But his injury wasn’t enough—he’d gone three full days without food, so his body refused to obey his commands.
Seeing the flickering crimson torchlight drawing dangerously near, the boy gripped the short sword at his waist with a pale face.
It was the only keepsake left to him by his mother, who’d passed away years ago.
“Raven. You must survive. Live on for me, too.”
“Mom…”
“Don’t hate humans. Half your blood is the same as theirs—just like mine.”
“…”
“This is the dagger your father gave me. Use it to protect yourself. Just as I hoped for myself, I wish my son would live on without losing courage…”
Is this what surviving all this time has led to, Mom?
Raven looked down at the dagger engraved with intricate patterns, his expression heavy with sorrow.
He’d barely managed to retrieve it when escaping the hunters’ camp.
And now, in this very moment, he was overwhelmed by a fierce urge to drive that very dagger into his own throat.
“…Wouldn’t everything be easier if I just died like this?”
After his mother’s death, Raven had entered the Black Forest alone and eventually found the hidden village where other Benians lived.
It had once been a sanctuary for descendants of fae folk—so well concealed it suited those whose lives were in danger.
But just as Raven began to settle into village life, the hunters attacked, slaughtering or scattering his kin.
One old man had even tossed the boy toward the hunters as bait and fled alone.
That was why Raven hadn’t managed to escape in time—and had been captured.
“Everything is just… sickening now.”
The endless running, the pain of hurting others just to stay alive—it was all too much.
For a child like Raven, every single thing felt unbearably heavy.
“Maybe… this is enough.”
Just as the sharp tip of the dagger touched the soft flesh between his chin and throat,
Trending
a towering man suddenly emerged from behind, grabbed Raven by the hair, and yanked him upward.
“Well, well. Trying to die on your own whim, are you? Quite the cheeky little brat.”
“Guh—let… go…!!”
“Hah. Would you let go if you were me?”
The man sneered, then shouted loudly to call his comrades. Instantly, the other five gathered around.
Raven fought fiercely, trying desperately to escape—but he was still just a young boy.
Overpowered by the giant’s immense grip, he dangled helplessly in midair like an object.
“Phew. We almost came back empty-handed.”
“Tell me about it. At least we caught this little runt.”
Beasts, the lot of them.
When Raven spat out a harsh curse and glared at them with contempt, the giant gripping his head tightened his hold.
“Arrogant little shit. Who do you think you are, glaring at us like that?”
“Hey, knock it off. Even Benians die instantly if their heads get damaged.”
“But it’s better to correct bad habits early on.”
Thwack!
The giant’s fist smashed cruelly into the boy’s leg, wrenching a horrifying scream from his mouth.
He’d deliberately targeted the already injured side.
“Now that it’s come to this, I’ll make sure you can’t walk for a good while.”
The man’s lips curled into a sinister smirk.
His eyes held that eerie gleam unique to those who took pleasure in inflicting violence on the weak.
Just as the man raised his fist to strike the other leg, a sharp whoosh sliced past his ear.
“Huh… wha…?”
There was a crisp, slicing sound—as if a well-honed blade had cleanly cut through meat.
The giant’s forearm, thick as the boy’s waist, had already fallen to the ground in two pieces.
“AAAAARGH!”
A scream of agony echoed through the darkened forest.
At the same moment, Raven slipped free from the man’s grasp and tumbled to the ground.
“My dagger!”
Spotting his mother’s keepsake lying nearby, the boy scrambled toward it on his arms.
“Damn it… I can’t get up.”
He tried, but his broken ankle gave out immediately, and he collapsed face-first.
Biting back the searing pain, the boy clenched his teeth and lifted his head.
“Who… who is that person?”
Standing where Raven’s gaze fell was a man of breathtaking beauty—truly beyond words.
He radiated such overwhelming authority that no one would dare oppose him.
“I finally found you—only to have these filthy pests interfere.”
The man’s silvery-white hair shimmered under the moonlight, so pure it seemed almost transparent.
In stark contrast to the brutish hunters surrounding him, his refined features and dignified posture clearly marked him as no ordinary man.
“…You say you found this brat? Do you even know what he is?”
“A demon hunter, I presume. I’ve no desire to speak with filth like you. Leave immediately—perhaps then you’ll keep your worthless lives.”
Truthfully, Vlad was in no mood for conversation.
Before finding the Benian boy Elga had mentioned, he’d stopped by the fae village—only to witness the aftermath of a massacre.
Though everything had already ended by the time he arrived, seeing the place filled with his memories so ruthlessly destroyed left him deeply unsettled.
“You seem like some highborn noble, but listen—there are rules to hunting. I heard rumors passing by, and this kid’s our prey, so don’t even think about trying to—”
“I warned you clearly.”
After uttering those words as precisely as if reading from a book, Vlad watched as sharp shards of ice sprouted from the chest of the man who’d just laid a hand on his shoulder.
Crimson blood dripped steadily from the needle-like ice tips, foreshadowing imminent death.
“AAAH!”
“GURK!”
Thud. Thud.

Each time a spear-like ice fragment flew and pierced flesh, sharp screams filled the air.
Though the surroundings turned into a gruesome scene, not a single drop of blood touched Vlad’s pristine figure standing solemnly beneath the moonlight.
Now, only two living beings remained—the golden-eyed boy and Vlad.
“Who… who are you? Are you here to take me away too?”
Is this man also planning to kidnap and sell me?
Raven clenched his fists, trying hard to steady his trembling voice.
What he felt now wasn’t relief at having survived—but something closer to fear and terror.
His instincts told him plainly: he could never escape this silver-haired man slowly turning toward him.
“I’m looking for a young male Benian. Seems you’re the only one around here. Are you him?”
“…Answer my question first.”
“I don’t feel you’re worth answering.”
“I don’t know what you’re thinking, but it won’t go your way. I won’t cooperate willingly.”
“I don’t enjoy tedious word games.”
Thwack.
The moment those words left his lips, a heavy impact struck the back of the boy’s neck.
For an instant, his breath seemed to stop—and his vision slowly blurred.
The last thing Raven remembered before losing consciousness was being dragged away by the man.

She said to him: “Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change it!”

Liu Changning transmigrated into a female cannon fodder character in a female-dominant novel.
After reading the first half of the novel’s plot, the first thing she did upon transmigration was to divorce the Pan Jinlian-style male protagonist she had just married.
She indulged herself, pretending to be ugly and poor.
But as time passed, the way that man looked at her became more and more unusual…
Liu Changning was dumbfounded: Tell me, what makes you like me? I’ll change!

This lifetime, Pei Yuanshao was rejected by the same woman twice!
The first time, she drove him away. Forced by the situation, he endured the waves of anger in his heart, yielding and humbling himself.
That person lay slanted on a rocking chair, her sallow face emotionless: “If you don’t want a divorce, go cook!”
Pei Yuanshao’s face was dark and gloomy: “You!”
The second time, after the crisis in Jinling City was resolved, the new emperor sent someone to pick him up. He turned around, stammering: “I… I have to go. If you keep me…”
That person lay on the kang bed, her back to him, as if she had long anticipated this day, crisp and clear: “Goodbye!”
Pei Yuanshao was so angry his fingers trembled: “You… you!”
The mission of family and country made him restrain himself, averting his eyes and turning to leave this broken household.
Two years later, they met again. Seeing her ethereal face, his body shook like a sieve.
“She was originally a ‘she’!”
At the Qionglin Banquet, the top scholar of the imperial examination, a talented person with exceptional speech and conduct, all the unmarried young gentlemen from aristocratic families looked at her with shy and timid eyes.
The peerless imperial official Pei Yuanshao felt the anger in his heart erupt. He pointed at the woman surrounded by the crowd at the Qionglin Banquet, his thin lips slightly curled: “Little sister, I wants that person to be the wife-master of my Mingde Prince Manor.”
