The Beast Swallowed by the Flower (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 33
Jamie asked how he should treat the Wittelo family from now on.
“Treat them well. Just like any ordinary guest.”
This was enough to show that I was no longer Iris Wittelo. Any further rudeness would only harm the Green family.
“Oh, and Lady Iris. The Captain says he’ll arrive sometime tomorrow.”
“I see.”
After Jamie left, Lisi dismissed the maids and sat alone on the sofa in the room’s sitting area, lost in thought.
Kai is returning.
And Britney is in this mansion.
In her past life, Britney, married to the Crown Prince, kept Kai as her lover. Of course, it wasn’t out of affection—it was a contractual relationship born of necessity.
Lisi wasn’t sure about Britney’s feelings, but Kai was certain enough. After losing his family and seeing Eldhardt fall into an eternal slumber, Kai became willing to do anything to achieve his goal.
Kai needed greater power, and Britney needed the most popular man in high society by her side. They joined hands, and their alliance seemed to hold strong—
At least until it was revealed that Kai was a beastkin.
“What will happen this time around?”
Lisi leaned back sideways on the sofa.
“Will Kai still need Britney in this life too?”
Lisi had no intention of letting anyone from the Green family die.
But she couldn’t predict how altering the future might affect the flow of time.
[Fate always comes to pass.]She’d once read that line in a book.
If fate must always be fulfilled, then even if Lisi saved Count Green and his wife, along with Zen, from the disasters ahead, another fate of death might still await them.
Since this new fate was unknown to Lisi, she couldn’t be sure whether she’d be able to save them from death once it came again.
Lisi squeezed her eyes shut, then opened them again.
“No, there’s no reason to fear something that hasn’t even happened yet. I’ll just do what I can right now.”
She tried to focus on what she could do now and the events that would soon unfold, but her thoughts kept drifting back to Britney and Kai.
In her past life, at a certain party, Britney had told her, “Meet me in the garden in thirty minutes. I have something to talk about.”
When Lisi arrived at the garden on time, she witnessed Britney and Kai kissing. Britney had wrapped both arms around Kai’s neck, kissed him, and stared right at Lisi.
“Look at this. This wonderful man is my lover. Soon I’ll have a husband who’ll become Emperor, and I already have the lover everyone in high society gossips about. Aren’t you envious?”
That’s exactly what Britney’s eyes had said.
Then, as now, Lisi couldn’t understand Britney’s behavior. At the time, Lisi had been Alford’s wife—she had no right to desire a man as extraordinary as Kai.
To Lisi, Count Green had been a distant, lofty figure she rarely even saw. She’d never tried to take anything from Britney, and Britney possessed everything Lisi could never hope to have.
So why had Britney felt the need to flaunt that scene so proudly?
Lisi’s life had already been dark and hopeless as it was.
Left alone, she would’ve simply drowned in despair and died.
“Come to think of it… they kissed. Kai and Britney…”
That scene, which she’d brushed off so casually back then, now returned vividly to her mind.
“What was Kai thinking at that moment? Britney’s beautiful, so even if it was just a contract, he probably enjoyed it, right?”
After all, men naturally like beautiful women.
“And Britney’s so sweet and affectionate in front of men… maybe he was genuinely drawn to her.”
She wondered how Kai had treated Britney.
“Did he treat her the same way he treats me now?”
In front of Lisi, Kai was always burning hot—so intensely hot that it sometimes felt like he’d melt away.
Suddenly, a strange feeling surged from her lower abdomen up to her sternum. Lisi quietly placed her palm over her sternum.
“What is this…?”
For some reason, she felt irritated.
It was something that had happened in her past life, and wouldn’t happen again in this one.
No—she was worried.
Worried that in this life too, Britney and Kai might share that kiss again.
Worried that Kai might find Britney useful and secretly start another contractual relationship without telling Lisi.
Lisi gently bit her lower lip.
She didn’t want to waste her emotions on something that hadn’t even happened yet, yet irritation kept welling up inside her.
Trending
She regretted allowing the Wittelo family to stay in this mansion. She didn’t want Kai and Britney to meet.
Lisi lifted both legs and kicked at the air. Still unsettled, she kicked a few more times before sighing and lowering her legs, realizing how silly she looked.
“Enough already, Iris. Enough.”
Lisi closed her eyes.
Maybe she’d feel better after a good night’s sleep.
In her sleep, she felt a gentle hand brushing through her hair.
Fingers slipped through her strands, pleasantly stimulating her scalp.
“Who is it?”
The answer came quickly.
“So Kai’s back.”
She should probably get up and greet him.
But then something firm yet warm touched her cheek.
Surrounded by its lazy, comforting warmth, Lisi sank back into sleep.
+++
Last night, Lisi had waited up late for Alford and ended up dozing off.
While she slept, Alford came home drunk and snapped,
“How dare you fall asleep before your husband even gets home?”
He struck her. He hit her calves dozens of times with a hard rod. Bright red lines appeared on her fair, pale skin, eventually breaking and bleeding.
Yet Alford didn’t stop.
After beating her for a long while, Alford finally pointed a finger at her and growled,
“You’d better behave from now on, understand?”
Then he collapsed onto the bed and fell asleep.
Lisi couldn’t sleep. The pain in her beaten calves burned and throbbed.
Even though she’d be forty in a few years, she was still being beaten like this—and it made her feel utterly pathetic.
She’d wanted to change many times before, but whenever such situations arose, she froze. Having suffered constant abuse—whether for doing something wrong or for doing nothing at all—her body had grown so conditioned that even a slight harshness in someone’s gaze would paralyze her.
Lisi sat there blankly, watching men and women enjoy the party with cheerful expressions.
Her calves, beaten last night, throbbed painfully—probably festering since she hadn’t treated them properly.
Unable to keep smiling and sitting still, she limped out of the banquet hall. Alford would surely be furious once he realized she’d left, but right now she couldn’t think about future consequences.
“It hurts…”
She wanted to cry but held back. She now knew tears wouldn’t ease this pain.
Sitting alone on a bench in a secluded corner of the garden where no one came, she lifted her skirt slightly. Cool air flowed beneath her dress, offering just a tiny bit of relief.
“The Captain, Piamondo’s movements seem suspicious. We should keep a close watch.”
She heard someone whisper.
“That’s exactly why I came to this party. By the way, did you bring those earrings?”
“Yes, I brought them… but they don’t seem to be relics. Still, they’re quite shiny and pretty.”
“We’ll examine them for now.”
“Keep an eye on Piamondo yourself. I’ll go ahead first.”
She heard someone leave. Then footsteps approached her direction.
Lisi held her breath and curled up—but she couldn’t hide from the man who stepped out from behind the shrubbery.
Count Kaelbrant Green.
Britney’s lover.
Kai seemed startled upon seeing Lisi but didn’t panic.
“Viscountess Fuchs.”
Kai gave a slight bow.
Lisi was surprised he even knew her.
She knew she ought to stand and return his greeting, but couldn’t—her calves burned with sharp pain.
“Are you unwell?”
Kai asked, his voice full of concern.
She nearly burst into tears. No one had ever shown such gentle worry for her before.
Lisi tightly pressed her lips together, swallowing her tears, and shook her head.

“You look unwell… you’re breaking out in a cold sweat…”
Kai knelt on one knee before her.
Lisi hadn’t even realized she’d lifted her skirt.
Seeing her calves through the gap in her dress, Kai’s expression darkened.
“Who on earth did this…”
Panicked, Lisi quickly lowered her skirt.
“It’s nothing, Count Green. Really, it’s nothing.”
At Lisi’s desperate words, Kai’s expression grew even grimmer. After staring at her for a while, he said,
“Bottling things up doesn’t solve everything.”
“I know. But… some people can only survive by bottling things up.”
Kai seemed about to say something but instead lightly shook his head and stood.
“Very well, Viscountess. You should apply ointment to your wounds. Otherwise, those lovely calves will scar.”
“Thank you.”
Lisi wished Kai would leave quickly. Being seen like this was humiliating, and pretending not to be in pain was agony.
Fortunately, Kai disappeared back through the shrubs.
Just as Lisi was about to let out a deep sigh, Kai returned.
Her lips parted mid-sigh, Lisi froze, eyes wide, looking up at him.
Kai held out his fist toward her. Confused, Lisi just stared at his closed hand.
“Take it.”
“What is it?”
Looking exasperated, Kai grasped her wrist and placed something in her palm—a small blue gem attached to an earring.
Lisi’s eyes widened.
“It’s Trisa’s earring—they say it brings luck to whoever carries it.”
“Oh…”
“May luck be with you, Viscountess Fuchs.”
+++
Lisi opened her eyes.
-May luck be with you, Viscountess Fuchs.
His warm voice lingered in her ear.
“I dreamed of my past life.”
The first kindness she’d ever received—the first thoughtful gesture.
In her past life, it had amazed her that Kai, whom she’d never properly spoken to, even recognized her—and pitying her, had even given her earrings as a gift.
Trisa’s earring, said to bring luck.
It had never brought her any luck, but whenever she wore it, she felt Kai’s gentle comfort, so she’d often put it on secretly, without Alford knowing.
Even on the night she died, she’d been wearing those earrings.
Remembering that day warmed Lisi’s heart.
“Now that I think about it, Kai called my calves ‘lovely’ back then too. Is that just his way of speaking?”
The emotions she’d felt seeing Kai in her past life and the feelings she had for him now overlapped, making her smile.
Back then, Kai had seemed like an impossibly distant, noble, and awe-inspiring figure.
But in this life, Kai was that adorable wolf who got called a chubby dog and asked Lisi to brush his fur.
“Did you have a pleasant dream?”
A voice suddenly came from beside her, startling her.
She turned her head to see Kai lying sideways, propping his head up with one hand.
“Why so startled? Did you do something bad behind your husband’s back?”
“When did you get here?”
“Late last night. I found you sleeping on the sofa and moved you to bed. You didn’t even notice.”
Now that he mentioned it, Lisi realized she was lying in bed.
Still dressed in yesterday’s clothes.
Her boots had apparently been removed by Kai.
“Wake me next time.”

“You were sleeping so soundly—why wake you? Did you sleep well?”
“Yes, very much.”
“Did you have a good dream?”
Kai asked again.
Only then did Lisi realize Kai had used a Sleeve Stone on her.
“Very much.”
I dreamed of you.
I dreamed of you sharing your gentle warmth with me.
“I had a happy dream.”
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
