The Beast Swallowed by the Flower (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 27
Lisi was washing dishes in the kitchen.
Despite being the duke’s daughter, no one cleared away the dirty plates for her.
Having lived this way since before she could even understand right from wrong, Lisi never even thought it unfair.
She only called the Wittelo duke and duchess “Mom” and “Dad” when guests were present.
She only showed off the signs of having been raised in fine clothes and luxury when guests were present.
“Moooom!”
Britney’s whining voice drifted in from outside.
“My necklace is gone!”
At those words, a chill ran down her spine, and cold sweat beaded on her skin.
Recently, Britney had learned an entertaining pastime on her maid Eva’s suggestion.
She would pretend something had been stolen and then play detective to find the culprit.
That culprit was usually Lisi.
“Again? Where’s Iris?”
At Duchess Denise Wittelo’s sharp scream, Lisi’s breath caught in her throat.
Lisi didn’t know whether Denise actually believed Britney’s claims about missing items or not. All she knew was that Denise never missed a chance to mistreat the child her husband had fathered with another woman.
The frail, tiny girl—who had long been frozen in fear—was roughly seized by a burly servant and dragged out.
Britney clung tightly to Denise’s side, grinning smugly.
But as soon as her eyes met Lisi’s, she shrieked in fright, grabbed Denise’s skirt, and hid behind her.
“She’s glaring at me… It’s scary, Mom.”
At Britney’s whine, Denise struck Lisi’s head with the fan she was holding.
“How dare you stare straight ahead with those eyes after stealing someone else’s things?”
Lisi was only seven years old, yet she already knew no one here would take her side.
Even if Duke Wittelo—the man who shared half his blood with her—were present, she knew he would still turn his back on her.
“I didn’t steal it.”
Still, Lisi protested.
Hope still lingered within her.
Hope that if she kept saying this, someday someone would finally believe her.
It was a faint, forlorn hope—but it hadn’t yet gone out.
“I didn’t steal anything.”
Everyone watched as Lisi spoke, her voice trembling with sobs.
Among them were some who looked at her with pity, and others who clearly enjoyed her suffering.
“Lady Denise!”
Just then, Eva, Britney’s maid, came running in.
In Eva’s hand was the necklace.
“I found it.”
“Where did you find it?”
Lisi already knew the answer.
“In Iris’s room. It was hidden inside her pillow.”
Lisi had never seen that necklace before.
“I’ve never seen anything like that.”
Though she knew her protest would fall on deaf ears, Lisi still cried out,
“I didn’t steal it!”
The voice of the thin, small girl reached no one’s ears.
Lisi was locked in a dark storeroom where not a single ray of light entered. She sobbed from hunger—more agonizing than the suffocating darkness—and wasn’t released until three days later.
.
.
“Huh!”
Lisi gasped awake, eyes snapping open.
The musty, moldy air of the storeroom. The rustling sound like small creatures scurrying about. The gnawing hunger from days without food.
These sensations crashed over Lisi with terrifying vividness.
Trending
It had been a terrifying night.
Trapped in that pitch-black storeroom, screaming for someone to open the door, begging for forgiveness she didn’t even need to give—yet not a single soul answered.
It was far too frightening for a child to endure.
She tried instinctively to curl up as she had back then—but couldn’t.
Only then did she realize a heavy arm was wrapped around her, and her face was buried against someone’s chest.
The moldy smell from her nightmare vanished, replaced by a familiar scent tickling her nose.
The fragrance of forests and meadows, of night skies and starlight.
Kaelbrant Green’s scent.
Her frantic, pounding heart settled back into place. Warmth returned to her icy fingertips.
Still feeling cold, Lisi squirmed deeper into his embrace.
Half-asleep, he pulled her closer and murmured in a drowsy voice,
“Are you cold, Lisi?”
“A little.”
His arms tightened around her.
As if refusing to leave even a single inch of her untouched, he held her tightly with both arms and his firm thighs.
His body heat seeped into her.
“It’s alright, Lisi.”
Kai whispered, stroking the back of her head.
“It’s alright.”
It wasn’t alright at all. He had no idea what he was talking about.
Yet his whisper sounded comforting to her ears.
The hand stroking her head gradually slowed and stopped.
Kai had already drifted back into deep sleep, breathing evenly and softly, but Lisi couldn’t fall asleep.
She spent the night listening to his breath, melting into his warmth.
Only when dawn light began seeping through the curtains did Lisi close her eyes—not because she was sleepy, but because Kai let out a faint groan, as if waking.
She didn’t want him to find out she’d stayed awake, terrified of having another nightmare.
Kai held her quietly for a moment, then leaned down and kissed the top of her head.
A soft peck.
Then, after a brief pause, another.
As if that wasn’t enough, he gave two more quick pecks.
Then he let out a dissatisfied “Hmm…” as though still unfulfilled.
Careful not to wake her, Kai gently slipped his arm out, sat up, and gazed down at her for a while.
Even with her eyes closed, she could feel his gaze burning her cheeks. She worried he might realize she was awake.
Should she pretend to wake up now?
As she pondered this, Kai lightly tugged a strand of her hair and said,
“You’re beautiful even when you’re asleep, my lady.”
Stunned by the unexpected words, she froze.
“What nonsense am I spouting…”
Kai muttered to himself and got out of bed.
Lisi nearly burst out laughing.
Since Kai always woke up before her, she’d never known what he did upon waking.
‘Surely… he doesn’t do this every day, does he?’
Thinking he’d moved far enough away, she cracked one eye open slightly.
Where Kai should have been sitting, a large black wolf now sat instead.
He’d already transformed into his wolf form and was carefully inspecting himself in the bedroom mirror.
He examined himself sitting upright, lifted a forepaw, and even turned his head to scrutinize his profile—making Lisi struggle to suppress her laughter.
She wriggled under the covers until they covered her head completely.
Biting her lower lip tightly to stifle her giggles, she felt Kai—who had shifted back into human form and slipped on a robe—quietly lift the blanket.
“When did you wake up, Lisi?”
“Just now…”

Kai noticed the lingering smile at the corner of her lips.
His face reddened.
“How long have you been watching, Lisi?”
“Since the big wolf was primping himself in front of the mirror.”
Kai’s face grew even redder.
He opened and closed his mouth several times, clearly at a loss for how to explain himself.
“You don’t have to be so embarrassed, Kai. It’s perfectly natural to tidy up before leaving the bedroom. Although… a wolf… pfft… no, sorry. It’s just… I’ve never seen a wolf primping and striking proud poses before… hehe…”
“I wasn’t showing off.”
“But… the way you held your chin high and sat so straight… it really looked like you were showing off… hehe… oh, I’m sorry. I’m not really laughing at you… it’s just so fascinating…”
“Fine. If you want to laugh, just laugh out loud. Don’t hold it in.”
So Lisi decided to laugh freely.
“Aha ha ha ha!”
A smile finally spread across Kai’s lips, even as he stood there with his arms crossed in mock displeasure.
“Was it really that funny?”
“As I said, it’s just fascinating.”
“So my wife laughs when she finds something fascinating. Then I’ll have to show you plenty of fascinating things from now on.”
Kai spoke as though pouting, but his eyes were smiling.
The nightmare from the previous night had now completely vanished from Lisi’s mind.
“I’ll look forward to it.”
“Well, since we’re on the topic…”
Kai held out his hand. Lisi naturally placed her small hand on his large one.
He gently grasped her hand and pulled her toward him.
“Let’s go. We’ll have a light breakfast in the garden, and I’ll show you something fascinating.”
+++
It was a perfectly clear day without a single cloud.
Shaded under a parasol brought by Krishina, they walked through the garden.
It was still early morning, and dew clung to the blades of grass.
Lisi reached out and brushed her fingers across the grass.
The cool dew on her fingertips felt pleasant.
“You’ll catch a cold, Lisi,” Kai said as he walked beside her.
“It’s just a bit of water on my fingertips—I’m not that weak.”
“To me, you look that fragile. You’re far too small and thin.”
“You’re just too big.”
A table and breakfast were already prepared in one corner of the garden.
Jamie stood neatly beside the table, waiting for them.
‘He really is diligent.’
As far as Lisi knew, Jamie worked alongside Kai until dawn. Neither Jamie nor Kai seemed to sleep much at all.
After exchanging brief greetings with Jamie, Lisi sat down. Kai whispered something to Jamie, who nodded and disappeared somewhere.
Despite being prepared so hastily, the meal was superb: fresh salad, savory soup, chewy bread, soft cheese, and freshly baked bacon.
Kai split a piece of bread, filled it with cheese and bacon, and placed it on Lisi’s plate. As he cut his own bread in half, he asked,
“Did you have nightmares while sleeping?”
“A little.”
“It seemed like more than just a little.”
“Just a little.”
Nightmares didn’t matter much. As long as they weren’t reality, Lisi could endure anything.
Kai stared intently at her for a moment before lowering his gaze to the bread in his hand.
“There’s a relic called the Sleepe Stone.”
“The Sleepe Stone!”
Lisi knew of this relic.
In her past life, it had caused Kai’s younger brother, Eldhardt, to fall into an eternal slumber.

Kai had tried desperately to awaken Eldhardt but had failed.
“Have you heard of it?”
Kai asked with a hint of suspicion at Lisi’s reaction.
“No. I just thought reacting like this might make the storyteller more excited.”
Kai gave a small smile, seemingly accepting her excuse.
“You’re an audience that makes storytelling enjoyable. Good. The Sleepe Stone, if used properly, is a stone that grants pleasant dreams. It’s a small, blue stone—about this big.”
Kai held up his thumb to show the size.
“But if misused, it can plunge someone into eternal sleep—because the dream is so much better than reality that they never return. I know where this stone is.”
In her past life, Eldhardt had fled into dreams to escape his painful reality.
Kai probably hadn’t realized just how much his brother was suffering.
Or perhaps he had—and had deliberately chosen not to notice Eldhardt secretly using the stone.
‘It must have been unbearable—to lose both parents and a younger sister.’
Three years from now,
Wyvern, Heraina, and Jereshien would die.
One year after that, Eldhardt would fall into an eternal slumber.
Kai, having lost his family, would survive only through his shadows—but he’d become like an empty shell.
“There are a few relics in the Holy Nation that haven’t been officially reported. I’ve simply left the ones that don’t need meddling alone—for now. Once my strength grows a bit more, I’ll retrieve them.”
To prevent a relic’s power from harming those around it, a guardian’s strength was necessary.
Kai didn’t yet have enough power to suppress all the relics.
“Having one more stone wouldn’t hurt. If you want, I’ll bring you the Sleepe Stone. I can suppress its power a few times to let you have pleasant dreams.”
Just because she’d had a nightmare, Kai was willing to go as far as retrieving a sacred relic to comfort her. His thoughtfulness made her heart ache.
In her past life, Lisi had seen the look in Kai’s eyes after he’d lost his family.
Hollow eyes.
Eyes unmoved by anything, as empty and vast as eternal void.
Lisi nodded.
“Bring it to me.”
Because she was going to smash that damn stone to pieces.
Male lead is reincarnated to save his wife
I’ve also read this one twice already. The female lead is kinda soft and gets embarrassed easily—not really my type, but the plot is definitely worth reading. Hurry up and read it, y’all!

Intro
When Shen Yuan encountered Su Jin again in his previous life, she had already become the Prime Minister of the current dynasty. As for him, the former top young master of the capital, he had long since fallen into the abyss, becoming a singer on a pleasure boat.
After a song ended, he was redeemed and sent to the Su Residence.
Su Jin respected and cherished him, gave him a roof over his head, and bestowed him with warmth. Shen Yuan fell deeper and deeper, but before he could express his feelings, Su Jin passed away.
Shen Yuan died to follow her in death, but instead, he returned to when he was fifteen years old.
At that time, he was not yet engaged, and Su Jin was just a poor scholar.
Shen Yuan gritted his teeth, casting aside all his pride, and thought of ways to coax and entice her every day.
The colder and more indifferent Su Jin was towards him, the more proactive Shen Yuan became.
He was not afraid of being mocked by the world, only wanting to marry his Wife-master early, to hold her hand and never let go for a lifetime.
[Note: This story will not specifically point out the male lead’s reincarnation time point; it’s all in the details. Whenever you feel that the male lead is acting strangely, he has most likely been reincarnated.]
