The Beast Swallowed by the Flower (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 25
Lisi sat on the bed, continuing to read the history book she had previously been reading.
Although the “First Beastman Rebellion” had ended in failure, Benedertem did not give up. Barely surviving, he hid in the shadows and quietly gathered those who would help him.
Benedertem said,
“Beastmen are also human; their ability to transform into beasts is not a curse from the gods but merely an innate talent. The Pope persecutes beastmen out of his own inferiority complex, resentful that he did not receive this divine gift.”
And Benedertem also said,
“The divine gift was given not only to beastmen but also to mages. First beastmen—once they are extinct, where will the Pope’s attention turn next? Since the Pope himself lacks magical talent, the extermination of mages is also a foregone conclusion.”
Most mages scoffed, but faithless mages sided with Benedertem’s cause.
With such wicked lies, Benedertem incited the talented and instigated the “Second Beastman Rebellion.”
It was a war of death, as the eastern Amas Sea turned crimson with blood.
At the click of the door opening, Lisi closed her book and set it down on the nightstand beside the bed.
“You can keep reading, Lisi.”
Kai said this as he undressed in front of the wardrobe.
When his firm back muscles came into view, Lisi quickly lowered her gaze.
Having changed into a robe, he strode over and sat beside Lisi.
Naturally, he picked up the end of her hair and kissed it.
“You smell lovely.”
“Thanks to you.”
For some reason, Kai looked slightly troubled.
As if struggling to speak something difficult, he kept opening and closing his mouth.
“Do you have something to tell me?”
“A difficult situation has come up.”
Kai spoke as though he had been waiting for this.
“Go ahead.”
“My parents are very angry.”
A chill ran down Lisi’s spine. She kept her composure and replied,
“Of course they would be. We married without even telling them.”
“They won’t even touch me, and they seem uninterested in anything I do—I didn’t expect them to be this furious. They’ll probably come here in two days.”
“I see.”
“I’ve never introduced a woman to them before, so I have no idea how they’ll react.”
Lisi stared straight at him.
Kai tilted his head slightly.
“Why are you looking at me like that?”
“Have you really never been with a woman before?”
“No. Why would I lie about something like that?”
“But…”
Unconsciously, Lisi reached toward his cheek. Gently stroking his soft cheek and the slightly rough stubble on his jaw, she murmured,
“You’re so handsome.”
Kai’s eyes widened. He held Lisi’s gaze for a moment, then swiftly caught her wrist.
“Do you think I’m handsome?”
“Has no one ever told you that before?”
“No. Do I look handsome to your eyes too?”
Lisi was speechless.
Of course he looked handsome—to her, he was absolutely perfect.
When she nodded, unable to find words, he averted his eyes. Lisi thought the redness she saw on his earlobe was probably just her imagination.
Turning back to meet her eyes again, Kai asked,
“I want to kiss you. May I?”
His heated gaze and voice stirred not only Lisi’s hearing but her sense of touch as well.
Embarrassed, she looked away and answered,
“You never asked before—you just…”
He swallowed the last word.
Trending
His lips claimed hers, slightly rough in their hunger.
His weight pushed her backward onto the bed, and his scent intoxicated her.
On the bed, blankets, him, and Lisi became entangled.
Even in the daze of their intense kiss, Lisi couldn’t understand why Kai had suddenly become so excited.
‘Could it really be… because I called him handsome? No, that can’t be. He must hear that all the time…’
As the kiss deepened, her breath grew ragged. The pounding of her heart didn’t bother her because it overlapped with his. She couldn’t even tell whose heartbeat resonated in their pressed-together chests.
The sensation of their bare skin brushing against each other was dizzying. She let out a soft gasp as her nails dug into his back.
Just as she felt his muscles stiffen, he abruptly broke the kiss and pulled her tightly into his embrace.
Her face pressed into his chest made breathing difficult, yet Lisi didn’t mind being held so fiercely. His arms felt safe.
“I’ll do everything I can to stop them, but you might still get hurt because of my parents, Lisi.”
He suddenly returned to the original topic.
Lisi found it astonishing that, even in this moment, Kai calmly continued their earlier conversation.
She had no idea how hard Kai was struggling to hold onto his composure.
“Kai, I’m not a flower made of glass. A few harsh words or minor offenses won’t hurt me.”
At Lisi’s whisper, Kai’s arms tightened around her.
Kai buried his face in the crown of her head.
“That’s not acceptable, Lisi. I don’t want my wife getting used to things like that.”
“But I’m used to it.”
“New skin will grow, Lisi.”
His palm gently stroked her back.
“On that new, tender skin, I won’t allow even the smallest wound to form.”
Even if it were just words, it was enough.
So Lisi buried her face in his chest and giggled softly.
“Do you want me to become some fragile lady who whines and cries all the time?”
For some reason, Kai heard Lisi’s laughter as if it were tears.
Wanting to give her all his warmth, he answered,
“If that’s what you want. If you truly wish for it, Lisi.”

Britney crumpled the wedding invitation and threw it away, only to pick it up again and reread it repeatedly.
No matter how many times she read it, the name at the very top of the host list—”Countess Nelakernis Jernal”—refused to disappear.
The name beneath it—”Jereshien Green”—didn’t even register in her eyes.
Countess Nelakernis Jernal.
A socialite goddess so renowned even the Empress wished to befriend her.
She couldn’t believe this woman was hosting Iris’s wedding.
‘Why? Why would she host a wedding for that girl?’
She couldn’t fathom Countess Nelakernis Jernal’s intentions.
The countess didn’t need to curry favor with the Green family—her own fame made her shine brilliantly. Then why was she rolling up her sleeves for Iris, whose reputation was full of scandals?
Britney threw the invitation away again and stomped off toward Duchess Denise Wittelo’s room. Denise was reviewing a catalog featuring designs by a famous designer she had summoned.
At Denise’s glance, the designer quietly left the room.
“Mom, I have to go see Iris.”
“What?”
“You received Iris’s invitation, right? Since I’m going to the wedding anyway, I thought I’d go early.”
Britney wanted to see with her own eyes what was happening at the Green estate and how Iris was being treated.
If Kaelbrant was genuinely treating Iris well because he’d been fooled by her, she had to help him come to his senses.
It would be too late after the wedding.
“Why go there early? Is there something good waiting for you?”
“That’s exactly why I need to check beforehand. I need to find out how she manipulated Count Green.”
“Brin, don’t meddle unnecessarily. Thanks to the gold mine Count Green gave us, life’s been quite pleasant lately. What if he suddenly cancels the wedding and demands the mine back?”
“He wouldn’t stoop so low! Besides, if we go later and Iris turns out to be as foolish and promiscuous as I suspect, they might blame us!”
“Hmm.”

Britney grabbed Denise’s arm and shook it, noticing her mother’s displeasure.
“So please, Mom, let’s go quickly. We’re Iris’s family—no one will mind if we arrive a few days early. And we can take this chance to tour the Green estate too.”

Count Green and Countess Green arrived at the Green estate.
Heraina Green, who had once been mistress of this mansion, scanned her surroundings with sharp eyes.
Almost nothing had changed since her time here.
Next, Heraina’s gaze turned to Lisi and Kai, who had come out to greet them.
Naturally, the first thing she noticed was Kai’s large frame.
Kai wore an expression of awkwardness, which displeased Heraina.
To greet one’s parents with such a look?
He must have done something terribly wrong.
Then Heraina shifted her attention to Lisi.
Lisi stood gracefully yet respectfully, hands neatly clasped before her, gazing at the marquess and marchioness.
Her expressionless face resembled not a doll but a statue meticulously carved by the gods themselves.
Silver hair, appearing faintly pink, half-pinned and cascading over her shoulders; large eyes beneath willowy brows, their violet irises striking; a straight nose perfectly complemented by full, red lips; a delicate neck flowing smoothly into soft shoulders.
Even in a simple dress, she radiated brilliance.
‘So this is the “flower of the Wittelo Dukedom”…’
Indeed, she truly deserved such a title.
Not a single flaw could be found in her appearance—she looked like a woman who had grown up sheltered, never facing hardship, always treated as precious.
Perhaps the Duke of Wittelo really had cherished his youngest daughter so much that he genuinely kept her hidden from the world.
After exchanging greetings, they moved to the main house.
Outside the drawing room, Heraina looked up at Kai and said,
“We’d like to speak with Lady Wittelo alone. You may go attend to your duties.”
“That’s impossible, Mother.”
Kai firmly refused, gripping Lisi’s hand.
Curious about how Lisi felt being held, Heraina studied her expression—but from that statue-like face, she could read nothing.
“Kaelbrant Green. After marrying without even informing your parents, you won’t even concede this much?”
“It was my fault for marrying without your knowledge. But this is different. You address my wife as Lady Wittelo—how can I possibly send her in alone?”
Heraina’s anger flared.
The unsettling suspicion that Kai might have forced Lisi into marriage by giving her the gold mine might actually be true, and the thought made her chest tighten.
Unlike Kai, who seemed utterly smitten with Lisi, she couldn’t decipher Lisi’s true feelings at all.
“Kaelbrant Green.”
“My dear.”
Wyvern interrupted Heraina’s furious tone.
Having quietly observed Lisi since their arrival, Wyvern placed a gentle hand on Heraina’s arm and said,
“Kai has a point. It would be best if we all went in together.”
“But…”
Seeing Heraina about to protest, Wyvern gave a faint smile.
Heraina realized Lisi had won Wyvern’s favor.
It couldn’t be just because of her beauty.
She trusted her husband wasn’t the kind to judge someone by looks alone.
‘What exactly about her pleased him?’
She didn’t dislike Lisi—she simply hated this situation, fearing Kai might have essentially bought Lisi against her will.
Wyvern entered the drawing room first, and Heraina followed behind him.
In the drawing room, the Marquis and Marchioness Green sat opposite the Count and Countess Green on the sofa.
“Lady Wittelo.”
Heraina decided to get straight to the point.
Lisi, who had been quietly watching Heraina, finally spoke.
“Marchioness Green, please call me Iris. Or Lisi, if you prefer.”
Her tone was respectful yet firm.

Heraina was now certain Lisi wasn’t merely a sheltered flower raised in a greenhouse.
Lisi added with a gentle smile,
“And please treat me casually.”
That smile was so warm and kind that Heraina thought how wonderful it would be to have a daughter like Lisi.
After all, Jereshien Green was far too brash.

Wasn’t the male lead described as a cold and otherworldly figure in the book?

Short scene 2:
Wei Jing Mo stared intently at Feng Bai Su who was about to go out, wanting to say, “Be careful on the road.”
Before he could speak, Feng Bai Su suddenly bent down and bit his cheek.
Her peach blossom eyes were full of disdain: “Tsk! You’re so clingy!”
Wei Jing Mo: “…”
A talented fox spirit female lead with a flirtatious appearance but actually abstinent VS A cold-looking but actually naive and clingy little jealous male lead
