The Bad Husband (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 22
A clear sky without a single cloud.
The outdoor wedding venue at the hotel seemed to prove that today was indeed an auspicious day, as even the gentle breeze felt unusually warm for the season.
In the midst of it, Woo Jin greeted the carefully selected guests with not a single hair out of place, making everyone who saw him gasp in admiration.
“Oh my, what kind of luck does Chairwoman Jung have? Not only is she gaining a chaebol son-in-law, but he looks like that? Seriously, I thought some actor was standing there.”
“Right?”
“Right? He’s tall, has a great body. I’d believe it if you said he was an actor.”
“Ohoho. Isn’t he? My son-in-law is quite something, isn’t he?”
“Exactly. Who would’ve thought that little Tae Eun who caused so much trouble during her teenage years would turn out so filial? Chairwoman Jung went through so much heartache, and now she’s finally being rewarded.”
Faced with the endless shower of compliments, Ji Eun looked at Woo Jin with a proud face, as if he were her own son rather than her son-in-law. It really felt like the saying you could skip meals and still feel full applied to moments like this. That was exactly how Ji Eun felt right now.
When she first decided to raise Tae Eun, she hadn’t seen this far ahead. It was simply a choice to survive among people who pointed fingers calling her a nouveau riche and mocked her for ending up marrying into a remarriage. The calculation was that no one would be able to badmouth a woman who took care of a rebellious teenage stepdaughter and her husband’s mother from his previous marriage who had dementia.
For that to work, Tae Eun had to be the “bad daughter,” and Ji Eun had to perfectly play the role of a stepmother who tried her hardest to embrace that daughter. Thanks to that, she could now proudly stand in a position envied by others, so the meaning this wedding held for her was naturally extraordinary.
The marriage was Tae Eun’s, but the one whose life would change because of it was her.
“Oh my, now Attorney Min’s seat as Seoul mayor is pretty much guaranteed. A son-in-law who adores his beautiful wife will push his father-in-law all the way.”
“Well… nothing’s set in stone yet.”
Ji Eun gave a subtle smile and looked back and forth between Min Kyung Hoon, who was greeting guests, and Woo Jin. Then her eyes accidentally met the cold gaze of Young Ja beside her, and she flinched, quickly looking away.

One-line summary: The husband I married on a whim had been secretly in love with me for a long time.
On the day when Jun Shao finally obtained the imperial decree for her marriage, Lan Qu, the person she had admired for six years, defied the decree and ran away.
Her gentleness and devotion, her promise of a lifetime together, were all disregarded by him. Instead, he dreamed of entering the palace to serve the Emperor’s sister as a sixth-rank attendant.
News of this incident spread throughout the capital, and the alleys in front of and behind the Lan mansion were crowded with people who came to watch the commotion.
Jun Shao should have been embarrassed and angry.
But someone stepped in to protect her dignity.
The figure was in a miserable state, yet still possessed an undeniable elegance and handsomeness.
The young lord struggled to climb the wall of the Lan mansion and shouted to her, “If he won’t marry you, I will!”
So, Jun Shao took advantage of the situation and married the person.
She thought the young lord did it to save the Lan family from the crime of defying the imperial decree, but never imagined that from beginning to end, what he coveted was her.
*
After the wedding, Jun Shao felt like she was living in a dream.
Her Wife-master was as beautiful as a fairy in a painting, skilled in the six arts, well-versed in poetry and literature, capable of being gentle and attentive, and also grand and dignified. Most importantly, she was the only one in his heart and eyes.
Jun Shao didn’t know how Lan Shiwu, as a illegitimate son without a father and blessed with beauty, had managed to preserve his purity, recklessly escape, and use his last ounce of strength to ruin his own reputation, all because of his love for her, just to stand before her.
She could only see him gazing at her with eyes full of love, and when she bestowed a name upon him, his eyes shone like stars.
“You have come to me like a weary bird perching on a branch. I shall call you A Qi.”
