That Night's Circumstance (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 8
“Oppa, you looked tired yesterday too—did you have another restless night?”
Soo Yeon stared across at the woman, her face stiff and tense.
Double-lidded large eyes, a straight nose, vividly crimson lips, and a figure nearly flawless in every way.
Everything about the woman was so perfectly harmonized that not a single imperfection could be found.
She was someone Soo Yeon knew.
The woman was famous—so famous that even Soo Yeon, who rarely watched TV or movies, couldn’t help but recognize her.
Shin Yoo Ri.
Though not quite as renowned as In Ho, she was still a well-known actress among the public.
As far as Soo Yeon knew, she was In Ho’s co-star in his current film.
Which meant, technically, she was In Ho’s colleague.
Yet the woman’s voice, directed toward In Ho, was far too affectionate—more so than necessary.
And that wasn’t all.
Her body leaned in so closely, her gestures so deliberately intimate, it made Soo Yeon’s brow furrow.
The woman smiled brightly and gently stroked her cheek.
More precisely, she stroked her husband’s cheek.
“Look how dry your skin’s gotten.”
For a moment, Soo Yeon felt a shock so profound it numbed the back of her head—something utterly indescribable.
‘Is this acting too? Has filming already started without me knowing? Is that it?’
Because unless that were true, how else could a married man be touched like this?
Soo Yeon couldn’t relax her rigid expression and quickly glanced around.
The atmosphere still felt too scattered for filming to have truly begun.
Besides, hadn’t a male staff member just announced moments ago that filming would start in five minutes?
Those five minutes hadn’t passed yet.
Soo Yeon’s brow furrowed slightly.
She couldn’t decide how to interpret this situation.
It was nothing but confusion upon confusion.
Right at that exact moment, the same man who’d announced the five-minute warning shouted again, loud and clear.
“We’re starting filming now!”
It was the very phrase signaling the moment she’d been dreading most.
“We’re rolling slate! Scene 34, take 8, shot 3.”
Soo Yeon had no idea what that sequence of words actually meant.
But no sooner had he finished speaking than another man shouted loudly,
“Action!”
Instantly, the set fell deathly silent, and the woman—who’d just been stroking her cheek—completely transformed her expression and began welling up with tears.
Only then did Soo Yeon realize filming had begun without her even catching her breath.
She stared at the woman before her, utterly flustered—more than she’d ever been.
She was in complete mental collapse.
Her earlier resolve to do well now felt meaningless as she sank helplessly into confusion.

Ever since Soo Yeon had left the house with Myung Woo, In Ho hadn’t been able to sit still even for a moment.
His dark eyes kept checking the time over and over.
It was unbearably, agonizingly slow.
“Ugh, filming’s probably already started by now…”
In his mind, the familiar filming set appeared with crystal clarity:
Every staff member’s face, his co-star Yoo Ri, and even his own face.
It was a scene he faced daily—so familiar it felt like second nature.
Yet in that familiar image, his own face alone felt strangely out of place.
“Ugh, I’m going crazy. Is she doing okay?”
In Ho bit his fingernails and let out a heavy sigh.
He was so anxious he felt like turning back right then and there.
Trending
But it wasn’t just the fear that filming would go terribly—he worried far more about the pressure and burden Soo Yeon must be feeling.
His wife, whom he’d lived with under the same roof all this time, was an exceptionally quiet and introverted woman.
She adhered to the commonly accepted idea of “exemplary behavior” with near-perfect consistency, never straying from it even for a second.
Could such a woman really change her expression in front of so many people—even just pretending to act?
Especially in the entertainment industry, a place crawling with cunning foxes whose intentions were impossible to read.
Even if it was only temporary, what if she ended up getting hurt there?
That thought alone made it impossible for In Ho to sit still even for a moment.
“Should I just go to the set right now?”
Go there and do what, exactly?
And what would he even say, showing up there looking like Choi Soo Yeon?
“Just tell them I came because I was worried about my husband. What’s wrong with that?”
But when exactly had Choi Soo Yeon ever followed her husband around sets out of worry?
Would anything actually get resolved if he just suddenly showed up like that?
“Ugh, then what am I supposed to do!”
After arguing with himself internally, In Ho finally gave in and collapsed onto the floor, his knees buckling beneath him.
Angrily, he grabbed a handful of his hair—and the texture he felt between his fingers sent an odd, unfamiliar shiver down his spine.
“What kind of hair is this? So long and messy—it’s driving me crazy!”
His nerves were frayed; everything irritated him, and he was thoroughly annoyed.
In Ho let out another heavy sigh.
Then he checked the time again.
Barely five minutes had passed.
“Ugh… she’ll be fine, right? I already gave Myung Woo strict instructions…”
His voice trailed off, filled with worry.
Suddenly, he remembered how right before sending Soo Yeon off, he’d pulled Myung Woo aside for a serious talk.
“Oh—uh, Manager.”
In Ho called out to Myung Woo in an awkward tone.
He couldn’t bring himself to say “Myung Woo” directly—afraid that, despite wearing Soo Yeon’s face, his true identity might somehow be revealed.
“Me? Me, you mean?”
Myung Woo seemed just as uncomfortable, replying with obvious confusion.
In Ho bit down hard on his lower lip.
He felt so exasperated he thought he might explode from all the pent-up sighs.
Just the thought of sending his wife—who didn’t even know how to lie—to the set in his place made everything go dark before his eyes.
And now the one person he was supposed to trust looked utterly dazed. How could he possibly send Soo Yeon off with peace of mind?
Still, they had to make some preparations.
Because so many people were involved and schedules had been set, they’d send Soo Yeon anyway—but he held no real hope that filming would go smoothly.
He was only sending her at all because he felt obligated to at least show some goodwill toward all the commitments he’d already made.
Therefore, he absolutely needed to pressure Myung Woo into helping her escape the set as quickly as possible.
“Who else would I be talking to? Are there other managers here besides you?”
In Ho snapped back sharply, his brow furrowed deeply.
Even though he wore Soo Yeon’s face, his personality hadn’t changed.
Moreover, he still hadn’t fully processed the reality of having swapped bodies—he wasn’t yet capable of convincingly acting like Soo Yeon.
Just then, Soo Yeon, who’d been standing nearby, subtly nudged his arm.
Only then did In Ho notice Myung Woo’s expression again.
Myung Woo looked completely lost, bewildered by the whole situation and clearly struggling to figure out how to respond.
A fresh wave of frustration surged up inside him.
Though exasperating, In Ho couldn’t really blame Myung Woo for reacting this way—so he took a deep breath and tried to steady himself again.
“It’s me—no, I mean, Seo In Ho here was sick all night.”
“What? Hyung? Hyung—you’re sick? Where does it hurt?”
Before In Ho could finish speaking, Myung Woo grabbed “Soo Yeon”—that is, his own body—and began turning her around to inspect her from every angle.
For a moment, In Ho felt like his eyes were about to pop out of their sockets.

Who did he think he was, touching her like that?!
“No! Don’t just grab some other woman’s body like that!”
In Ho shoved himself between Soo Yeon and Myung Woo and pushed the latter away.
Myung Woo’s face turned even more confused, his words stumbling out.
“Other… woman?”
Damn it all.
Cursing words rose to the tip of In Ho’s tongue.
First, he couldn’t even call Myung Woo by his name—and now he couldn’t even refer to his own wife as his own woman.
He wasn’t Hong Gil-dong or some mythical figure—this whole mess was utterly maddening.
He was so furious he thought he might burst.
Why on earth had this ridiculous situation happened—and why did it have to happen specifically to him and Soo Yeon?
He kept muttering “I’m going crazy, I’m going crazy”—and honestly, the only good news was that he hadn’t actually lost his mind yet.
The truly pitiful part was that right now, the only person he could possibly rely on was his own manager, Myung Woo, who was currently babbling incoherently.
But there was no other choice.
In Ho forced himself to speak as calmly as possible.
“Ugh, forget it. Point is, he was sick all night. And just because he looks fine right now doesn’t mean he actually is.”
“Oh… okay…”
“So today, don’t go off to the van—stay right by this person’s side the whole time. If they look even slightly unwell, push filming to later.”
Myung Woo’s face turned guilty—clearly stung by the instruction not to leave for the van.
‘Serves you right. You should’ve been more responsible in the first place, you idiot.’
In Ho thought this to himself, though that wasn’t the real issue right now.
After looking guilty for a moment, Myung Woo quickly shifted expression and started making excuses.
“Ah, I understand what you’re saying, Hyungnim—but it’s not that simple to just delay filming…”
“So what? Are you saying we should keep filming even if someone’s about to collapse? Is that what you’re telling me?”
“No, no! That’s not what I meant…! Hyung, if you’re really feeling that bad, should I call the director and push filming back a few hours? Maybe go to the hospital and get an IV drip or something?”
Myung Woo glanced nervously at Soo Yeon while checking In Ho’s reaction with obvious discomfort.
In Ho also turned to look at Soo Yeon, following Myung Woo’s gaze.
All she needed to say now was something reasonable like, “I’m fine for now—if I feel worse later, I’ll let you know.”
But that was just his wishful thinking.
Soo Yeon merely fidgeted awkwardly, silently moving her lips without saying a word.
He’d completely forgotten that his wife always put others before herself—annoyingly, unnecessarily kind as she was.
In Ho let out a deep, quiet sigh and firmly cut off Myung Woo.
“Honestly, do my words mean nothing? Truth is, I don’t even want to send her to the set right now—but since there are promises made with so many people, we’re doing it anyway. She says she’s fine at the moment, so just watch her closely. And if she looks like she’s struggling even a little, delay filming immediately. Understood?”
Only then did Myung Woo reluctantly nod and guide Soo Yeon out of the house.
Back from his thoughts, In Ho stared straight ahead.
He’d done everything he possibly could for now.
Yet instead of calming down, his anxiety surged endlessly, refusing to subside.
“Maybe I really should just go to the set…”
This inner conflict showed no sign of ending.
Just as he was about to grab his hair again in rising irritation—
Suddenly, a phone began ringing loudly out of nowhere.
“What? That’s not mine.”
In Ho looked around.
It definitely was a phone ringing—but it wasn’t his.
After searching around for a while, following the sound this way and that,
he finally stopped in the bedroom.
With clear displeasure in his eyes, he stared at something.
It was Soo Yeon’s phone, ringing loudly on the bedside table.
“Ugh. I knew she wasn’t thinking straight.”
How was she planning to contact him if she’d even forgotten to take her phone?

Tsking in annoyance, In Ho picked it up.
The name displayed on the screen belonged to someone deeply awkward to deal with.
“Why’s she calling so early in the morning?”
In Ho frowned.
He hesitated—should he answer it, or just pretend he hadn’t noticed?
His deliberation didn’t last long.
He personally had no desire to pick up—but from Soo Yeon’s perspective, this caller was her mother-in-law.
Ignoring the call outright would only put Soo Yeon in an awkward position.
Once that thought clicked, he had only one choice.
In Ho pressed the call button firmly.
Male lead Asks for a Divorce Every Day
It’s not often you come across a plot like this in the female-dominant genre — make sure to check it out!

This is a novel I’m planning to reread as well.
The male lead is strong, skilled in martial arts, and not the usual fragile type you often see in matriarchal novels.
Meanwhile, the female lead is a scientist—rational and logical. Even when she falls for the male lead, she doesn’t let her emotions cloud her decisions.
If you push through the first few chapters, you’ll gradually find the story really intriguing.
It has a mix of mystery, detective elements, and romance.
The author’s writing style is like crafting a puzzle—except they deliberately leave out a few pieces, making it hard to predict what happens next, yet keeping you hooked.
In the end, everything will come together and be explained.
One-sentence summary: Wife, stop playing with beakers and look at me!
In a laboratory accident, research scientist Zhu Wansheng accidentally travels to a matriarchal world. The original owner of the body is an eighteen-year-old only daughter of a wealthy rouge merchant, already married with a handsome young man.
Zhu Wansheng grins: Nice! She always said she was heaven’s favorite granddaughter. After a life of toil in her previous life, she can enjoy blessings in this one.
However, her joy lasts no more than three seconds as bad news arrives: the original owner’s family is about to go bankrupt, and her husband wants a divorce.
Even worse, she’s stuck with a research system full of restrictions.
Zhu Wansheng: ? Is this the destiny of a research dog?
——
Faced with this mess, Zhu Wansheng pours herself a bowl of wine to drown her sorrows. In her drunken haze, her husband arrives.
His figure is imposing, holding a long sword, with a dignified air that captivates Zhu Wansheng.
Gu Yingqing, however, looks at the alcohol-reeking Zhu Wansheng with undisguised disgust and coldly asks, “Divorce or not?” The intoxicated Zhu Wansheng mumbles vaguely, “I think… it’s not… it’s not… impossible!”
——
The next day, after sobering up, Zhu Wansheng is full of energy, rolling up her sleeves ready to make a big move. As for yesterday? She has no memory of it.
Zhu Wansheng is ambitious; a research dog fears nothing!
Upgrading rouge, extracting fragrances, producing perfumes, researching lipsticks… all shall bow to the power of modern technology!
The original owner’s dying rouge shop is revitalized. Her mother is pleased and with a wave of her hand, passes on the family business to her. As she takes control and her experimental results gain popularity, it’s the pinnacle of her life…
——
But there are always those who can’t stand to see her doing well. Jealousy, scheming, assassination attempts – they want nothing less than her life.
The person who has always kept his distance from her suddenly holds her tightly in his arms, eyes full of concern.
She is unharmed, but he falls into a pool of blood…
Zhu Wansheng feels guilty, “I can grant you one wish.”
Gu Yingqing tentatively circles his arms around her, carefully resting his head in the crook of her neck, pleading softly, “I regret it. Can we not divorce?”
Zhu Wansheng: ? When did I agree to a divorce?
[Small Theater]
The newly developed rouge is beautifully packaged, and Zhu Wansheng is eager to try it.
Gu Yingqing suddenly appears: “My lady, may I apply it for you?”
Cool fingertips lightly brush her lips. His Adam’s apple bobs as he leans in for a light bite.
Zhu Wansheng: ?
Gu Yingqing: It smells so good, I wanted to taste it…
On a warm spring day, Zhu Wansheng tries a new perfume: “Spring Night.” Gu Yingqing corners her against a wall.
Warm breath lingers on her neck.
“My lady, from now on, may I test the fragrances for you?”
