Lellia had not stepped a single pace outside her bedroom for several days already. Though it had been over five days since she was released from that horrifying prison, her entire body still felt as chilled as it had when she was locked inside.

It was an experience so dreadful it defied description. She had never even imagined living through something like that in her entire life.

“This is all…”

Because of Ibelia.

Lellia swallowed that name inwardly—the very name that had practically thrown her into prison. She hadn’t even endured brutal torture, yet uttering that name aloud filled her with such bone-deep fear, as if she were a thoroughly trained dog. She felt that if she spoke that name once more, she would be thrown back into prison and never escape again.

Yet, her hatred toward that woman grew ever more intense. Merely thinking of her name made her grind her teeth in rage.

“I wish she’d just die already.”

Lellia muttered, glaring into empty space with eyes burning red. She looked not only thoroughly poisoned but utterly consumed by madness. Had Ibelia appeared before her at that very moment, Lellia might have lunged at her and strangled her on the spot.

The symptoms that had worsened during her imprisonment showed no sign of improvement even after her release. Because of this, even her personal maid—who had served her for a long time—now hesitated to attend to her.

Thus, unless Lellia summoned her, the maid only came to see her briefly in the early morning, before bedtime, and occasionally during meals. But unexpectedly, a knock suddenly echoed through the quiet bedroom.

The one who opened the door and revealed herself was Lellia’s personal maid.

“M-Milady…”

With a face full of fear, the maid approached Lellia. Yet Lellia kept staring blankly into space, not sparing even a glance toward her maid.

To the maid, this was more than enough reason to feel terrified. She desperately wanted to flee right then and there, but she had a message she needed to deliver to her mistress.
