Late at night, Caliph hurried toward the Crown Princess’s Palace, forgetting even his exhaustion. It was because of what Felix had told him the moment he returned to the Crown Prince’s bedchamber.

[Why are you so late tonight of all nights?]

[You’re really something. If you come early, you get scolded for coming early; if you’re late, you’re scolded for being late. Anyone watching might think you’re my consort or something.]

[Hah, enough with the nonsense—just go see Ibelia quickly.]

Before he could even grasp the meaning of those abrupt words, his nerves tensed. Until now, he hadn’t carelessly spoken Ibelia’s name aloud—but did this mean he now intended to openly reveal that he’d been secretly meeting her?

He couldn’t understand why the distance to the Crown Princess’s Palace felt so unbearably long tonight. The more it stretched, the faster he quickened his pace.

From afar, the Crown Princess’s Palace finally came into view. Just that alone made Caliph’s chest flutter anxiously. Imagining how hurt Ibelia must be after meeting the Empress left him breathless.

A sigh escaped him involuntarily. He was enduring so much, straining every fiber of his being just to make her happy—so why did it have to be this difficult?
