Stolen Crown Princess (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 17
Ibelia tightly closed her eyes and then opened them again. That alone wasn’t enough, so she vigorously rubbed her eyes.
Even after that, the hamster was still sitting in the same spot, adorably absorbed in grooming itself.
“…Did I… hear something wrong?”
She muttered with a half-dazed expression. After all, it was utterly absurd— a hamster speaking? How could such a thing even be possible?
Quickly shaking off her confusion, she rose slowly from her seat, looking weary, and then walked slowly toward the table where the hamster sat.
“Where did you come from?”
Her expression was noticeably calmer now compared to just moments before as she stared intently at the tiny creature. The hamster, which had been peacefully grooming itself, stopped moving and tilted its head diagonally.
It looked exactly like the kind of creature that would let out a soft “kyu” sound—so endearing that Ibelia couldn’t help but smile gently without even realizing it.
“I must really be losing my mind. I thought you just spoke to me. That’s completely ridiculous.”
Muttering to herself, she cautiously reached her hand toward the hamster. Contrary to her expectation that it would bolt away instantly, the hamster stayed put even as her fingers touched it.
It was clearly someone’s pet. Otherwise, it wouldn’t be so utterly unbothered by human touch.
“You’re really well-behaved, aren’t you? You even seem to enjoy being touched. I should ask Pailin to find your owner.”
Ibelia’s eyes crinkled slightly as she straightened her back. She could already picture Pailin’s eager face rushing over joyfully the moment she tugged the bell cord.
Pailin would surely assume she’d changed her mind and decided to eat after all. And once she realized that wasn’t the case, she’d be immediately disappointed.
For some reason, Ibelia already felt guilty toward Pailin. But she couldn’t possibly leave a hamster with an owner in her bedroom like this.
