Stolen Crown Princess (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 117
Late at night, Terot moved secretly. She had to evade the knights guarding the Empress’s Palace under the Crown Prince’s orders.
Though the command had been to imprison her thoroughly, after several days the knights visibly began to relax their vigilance. She did not miss that opening.
She exchanged messages with her people outside the Empress’s Palace and set the plan for tonight.
Thus, after waiting long for an opportunity, a small commotion suddenly erupted outside the palace gate—and the tightly shut door opened.
Terot, tense to the core, peered through the narrow gap of the opened door. She saw the face of the one she had been waiting for.
“Please, let us go.”
The moment she heard the words from the masked figure, she stepped forward. She had no idea how long it would take before she finally escaped the Empress’s Palace.
She took a deep breath of fresh air into her lungs, then turned back just before leaving the palace. Gazing toward Eustia’s brightly lit chamber, she bowed her head with a heart full of anguish.
Would she ever see her again?
The thought pierced her chest endlessly, yet Terot forced herself to take another step. She absolutely had to fulfill Eustia’s final wish.
She ran until her breath reached the very tip of her throat. Though she had to hide repeatedly to avoid the palace attendants and could not let her guard down for a moment, Terot moved swiftly.
At last, a small gate leading out of the imperial palace came into distant view. It was rarely used by people, and being the dead of night, no one was in sight.
Still, just in case, she stayed hidden and scanned the surroundings for a long while. After exchanging signals with the knight hiding nearby, she rose from her position.
She sprinted with all her might toward the palace gate—the final checkpoint that meant the difference between life and death.
It was truly within arm’s reach. Her breath grew so ragged she felt her whole body might burst at any moment, yet she clenched her teeth and kept running. And the moment the knight opened the sealed palace gate, Terot collapsed onto the ground as if her insides had shattered.
