Seduced the Doomed Villain (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 16
Whoosh— As his sword sliced through the air, a fearsome gust of wind erupted. The deputy captain, who had been countering the attack, turned pale with dread.
Only the deputy captain had managed to keep holding out against Rodric’s assault.
“The very same attack that even the princess couldn’t block. Is this really all you’ve got?”
A handful of elite knights, who had already endured brutal training sessions under that very pretext, lay sprawled on the dirt ground, wearing aggrieved expressions.
“Do you even realize we nearly died back then?!”
“Yes. You couldn’t even land a single scratch on me.”
Hiss. That man’s a demon—a literal demon. These knights were already among the most skilled in the order.
Merely matching Rodric’s pushed-to-the-limit strength had already far surpassed the capabilities of ordinary knights.
They deserved praise just for having blocked Rodric’s attack—yet he looked thoroughly displeased.
Rodric let his body move unconsciously as he swung his sword, lost in thought.
Something felt off, but he couldn’t pinpoint why. Why did this leave such an unpleasant aftertaste? What was it?
His frown deepened as a subordinate’s voice reached his ears.
“Seriously, every day I come home all bruised, and you have no idea how much my wife scolds me! You lot wouldn’t understand—you don’t even have wives.”
“Shut it.”
“Couples, drop dead.”
“Stop bragging.”
His movement halted abruptly, particularly at a certain word.
Daren sank to the ground in surrender as Rodric’s blade stopped perilously close to his throat. The deputy captain, already pushed beyond his limits, was drenched in sweat.
“My handsome face is covered in bruises every single day—my poor wife frets so much. Kahahaha! You should all hurry up and marry yourselves some clever wives like mine…”
The knight, who’d been chattering away while sacrificing the deputy captain as a scapegoat, abruptly fell silent.
Slowly lifting his gaze toward the sudden shadow that loomed over him, he stammered,
“C-Captain?”
Rodric’s sword tip, previously dangling loosely, now gently touched the knight’s chin.
With the sun at his back, Rodric’s face remained shadowed—only his piercing blue eyes clearly visible.
Unable to read his captain’s expression, the knight gulped nervously. Was he about to be punished for slacking off?
“You’re married, right?”
“Huh? Yes, sir. Didn’t you attend my wedding?”
Caught off guard by the odd question, the knight scratched his head.
‘What on earth is going on?’
‘No clue.’
He glanced sideways at his comrades, but they just shrugged helplessly.
“Did you… have something to ask me, sir?”
“Your proposal.”
“Excuse me?”
“When you proposed, did your wife give you an immediate answer?”
“Well… yes! Carole was so moved she cried and accepted right away.”
“I see.”
Rodric’s expression grew serious as he lowered his sword and walked out of the training grounds.
“……”
“……”
The knights, still dumbfounded as they watched Rodric’s retreating back, suddenly jolted awake as they replayed his words in their heads.
“W-wait. Could it be…?”
“No way! Did the young lady reject him?!”
“Unbelievable! Our captain got dumped!”
In an instant, Rodric became the heartbroken hero of the entire knight order.
Indeed—he still hadn’t received an answer to his proposal. And it hadn’t even been a marriage proposal, merely an engagement.
Raking his sweat-drenched hair back roughly, he headed straight for Diana.
[This is the timeline separator]The frozen silence inside the office felt as though a bomb had just detonated.
An audacious young lady daringly asking the Duke Schwarz—an individual even the Emperor treated with utmost caution—for his son’s hand in marriage.
Trending
The chancellor and attendants stood speechless at the thunderbolt of a scene. Yet the one who had spoken and the one struck by her bold request remained perfectly composed.
“My lady.”
A deep, resonant voice resonated through the room. As the stillness shattered, everyone nearby reflexively flinched.
“Are you aware of the relationship between your house and ours?”
Diana stood perilously close to the Duke, having just slammed her hands on the desk. Despite the Duke’s imposing presence, she gave him a sweet, knowing smile.
“I’m well aware. We treat each other like stray dogs next door—mutually ignoring one another.”
“And yet?”
“You stand to gain more. My share of the mines and personal assets is quite substantial. My dowry will be considerable.”
“We possess wealth of that scale as well.”
True—the Schwarz family’s assets were not inferior. Yet the Beatus family held a distinct advantage.
“You could establish direct ties to the central court. Haven’t your repeated attempts to infiltrate the imperial court with your agents consistently failed?”
And whose interference caused those failures? The Beatus family, who tightly controlled the central political sphere and covertly dominated the underworld.
“……”
Tap-tap—the Duke drummed his fingers thoughtfully against the desk. His internal weighing concluded swiftly.
“What do you gain from this?”
“Your eldest son.”
“Not the second son?”
No, thank you.
The second male lead was far too likely to get entangled with the protagonist. Besides, his childish demeanor made romantic feelings impossible from the start.
If Felice had been more like the novel’s taciturn, tormented younger man—or perhaps acted as her cure—would she have considered him differently?
No. Rodric was still her preference.
She preferred predators baring their fangs over wagging puppies. Diana closed her rose-pink eyes delicately and replied,
“No, Father. Rodric.”
“He may look presentable, but he’s already half-dead. If the second son becomes head of the family, the eldest will surely perish soon. Do you understand that?”
The Duke spoke dispassionately—even indifferently—about his own son’s impending death.
Goodness, this father. His words were truly unpleasant. That’s your own child! Is that really something you can say so casually?
Unbeknownst to her, the Duke subtly referenced Rodric’s curse—testing her. How much do you truly know?
Understanding his intent, Diana’s pink eyes softened gently.
“I know.”
“Yet you still desire this cursed man? He’s a defective heir to your house.”
Defective heir. Her smile froze in place. Had he lived his whole life being treated this way?
“That’s too harsh, Father. To me, he’s the most precious and treasured gem I own.”
How dare anyone insult her cure—even if it was his own father. Her voice, laced with emotion, came out icy cold.
“No matter who treats him as worthless.”
Her indirect jab—“Your judgment truly disappoints me”—finally cracked the Duke’s perpetually blank expression, twisting his lips slightly.
Felice, standing a few paces away from the tense standoff between them, shifted anxiously.
Should he call his brother now? But if Rodric joined this conversation, it would undoubtedly descend into chaos.
‘Ugh, what should I do? If I upset Father further, he’ll never approve the marriage. Should I step in?’
Contrary to Felice’s worries, the Duke found Diana strangely intriguing.
The man who’d been sitting upright, focused on paperwork, now leaned back leisurely against his chair.
Even his most trusted aides—and certainly his children—couldn’t withstand his gaze. Rodric was the sole exception.
Yet this young woman met his intimidating stare head-on without flinching.
Her calm, unwavering eyes sparkled with fearless candor—so audaciously bright it drew an involuntary chuckle from him.
“Hah. If you wish to become a widow, I won’t stop you.”
“Oh, Father! Widow? Don’t speak so grimly. If you merely grant permission for the engagement, I’m confident we’ll enjoy a century-long marriage.”
“Such remarkable confidence.”
That phrasing sounded oddly familiar—and Rodric’s identical speech pattern instantly dispelled any lingering fear.
“With a wife as stunning as me by his side, how could he possibly close his eyes in peace?”
“……”
“Besides, your son seems far more jealous than I expected.”

Wow—Felice was genuinely awed. She hadn’t lost a single round against Father.
The Duke Schwarz was a man so fearsome that even the boldest hesitated to stand before him.
Watching Diana confront their father so boldly—something none of them had ever dared in their lives—made Felice’s heart pound with admiration.
Clenching his fist tightly, Felice silently cheered her on: Sister-in-law, you’ve got this!
“Any regrets will be yours alone.”
“Of course. I alone bear full responsibility for my choice.”
Even when the Duke pronounced Rodric’s fate as certain death, Diana didn’t so much as blink in reply.
After a brief tug-of-war of wills, the Duke finally yielded.
“Very well. I shall send a formal marriage proposal to House Beatus.”
“No, actually—could you hold off on sending the proposal for now?”
Why? The Duke’s eyebrow twitched. Hadn’t she just been eagerly seeking his approval?
“I came only to secure your personal consent for now. That way, I’ll have proper grounds to stay in this castle with my younger sibling.”
“And so?”
“Please accept me as your prospective daughter-in-law, Father. Within this castle, I’d prefer to be recognized as the fiancée of your knight captain.”
Though House Beatus held immense prestige, the status of its youngest daughter paled in comparison.
She was far less known than her three elder brothers—especially among houses harboring resentment toward Beatus.
Thus, to wield any real influence here, she had to establish her position firmly—and enjoying physical closeness with her handsome cure was just an added bonus.
“Then I’ll take your silence as approval. I’ll take my leave now. Thank you for your precious time, Your Grace.”
Diana stepped back behind the desk as if she’d never challenged him, bowed gracefully, and exited the office.
Ah—just before leaving, as if suddenly recalling something, she turned back and added,
“However, Father—it truly angers me when my gem is treated like trash.”
Thud. The door shut, and the office once again fell into a chilling silence.
Diana never explained why she wanted the proposal delayed. That was something the Duke could investigate himself.
Yet her final remark before exiting left a sting in the Duke’s pride—
a thinly veiled warning to watch his words in her presence. His expression hardened instantly.
[This is the timeline separator]Phew. Stepping out of the office, Diana exhaled deeply. She’d behaved rather impertinently—would that be alright?
Regret washed over her belatedly, but what could she do?
She had to speak her mind.
“Did your talk go well?”
A low voice gently vibrated in her ears.
Rodric leaned against the wall nearby, arms crossed, dressed casually—as if he’d been waiting there the whole time.
Delighted, Diana’s face brightened instantly.
“When did you get here?”
“Since you started talking about your ‘gem.’”
“Oh—the first gem? Or the second gem?”
If he meant the ‘gem’ she mentioned right at the end, he likely hadn’t overheard much.
“The first one.”
Diana frowned slightly.
“Then you heard everything?”
He smoothed the corners of his mouth, which had involuntarily curled upward.
“Yes.”
“Then why didn’t you come in and back me up?!”
“Kh. Haha.”
He couldn’t hold back any longer—laughter burst out of him.
He’d been in low spirits ever since hearing she’d gone to see the Duke instead of looking for him first.
He couldn’t understand why she’d seek an audience with the Duke—so he’d followed her to the office, ready to pull her out.
At least, that was his plan—until he heard what she said outside the door.
“‘That’s too harsh, Father. To me, he’s the most precious and treasured gem I own. No matter who treats him as worthless.’”
Rodric, blessed with sharp hearing, had clearly caught every word through the well-insulated door.

Who else would dare defy the Duke so boldly? He absolutely should’ve seen the Duke’s twisted expression for himself.
“Indeed. I really should’ve witnessed that scene firsthand.”
His soft chuckle resonated pleasantly down the corridor.
