Tae Kyung snorted as he looked at Min Jun, who was glaring at him with blazing eyes.

What a reckless little brat.

It’s because of that tiny brat that Kim Seo Ha left me.

If it weren’t for that kid, Seo Ha might have become my wife by now.

As this thought crossed his mind, Tae Kyung glared at Min Jun with a savage intensity, as if he wanted to devour him whole.

Min Jun scowled right back, his expression twisted with defiance, refusing to back down an inch.

Amid their inexplicable silent duel, Yoon Hee gently spoke to Min Jun.

“Min Jun, the principal is currently talking with some guests—could you wait just a little bit before telling her your story?”

“But!”

Seeing Min Jun’s frustrated, wronged look, Tae Kyung sneered, twisting the corner of his mouth.

“It’s fine, Principal. We also have another meeting to attend, so we should be going now. Calming down a crybaby who couldn’t handle things on his own and ran here to tattle takes priority, after all.”

“I’m not a crybaby! And I didn’t fail to handle it either!”

Stung by Tae Kyung’s mockery, Min Jun’s eyes welled up with tears.

Kyu Won sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose.

Why on earth was an adult getting into such a ridiculous battle of wills with a kindergartener?

When had Tae Kyung become this petty?

In business, Tae Kyung was famously cold and calculating. Negotiating with him often sent chills down one’s spine—as if a snake were slithering all over your body, not just once or twice.

Han Tae Kyung was the kind of man whose every softly spoken word tightened the noose around his opponent’s throat.

“Don’t come out. I’ll see you again tomorrow.”

Just as Tae Kyung was about to leave the principal’s office, Seo Ha walked in.

He halted mid-step. Seo Ha passed right by him without even offering a greeting.

“Principal, I’m very sorry. I’ll take Min Jun and scold him properly myself.”

She bowed deeply toward Yoon Hee and pulled Min Jun along.

“Geez, it wasn’t my fault! Do Hoon started it first! He said I couldn’t go to the amusement park because I don’t have a dad. That it’s really true—I really don’t have one!”

Min Jun shouted, tears brimming in his eyes.

The adults standing nearby wore grim expressions as the little boy poured out his bottled-up anguish.

Seo Ha was flustered, and Tae Kyung felt an inexplicable pang twist inside him.

He saw his own childhood reflected in Min Jun—having grown up bearing the full weight of his father’s absence after his parents’ divorce.

Though he disliked Min Jun, pity welled up alongside that resentment.

“Brat. If you cry like that, you’ve already lost. It’s better to have no dad at all than to have a worthless one like that.”

Tae Kyung offered Min Jun what sounded less like comfort and more like indifference. Seo Ha stared at him, startled.

Tae Kyung was in a foul mood. Why did this annoying kid keep tugging at his nerves?

A worthless dad—

Better off not having a dad like that one, who abandoned even his own child and ran away.

Tae Kyung muttered under his breath, cursing Min Jun’s biological father inwardly.

“Crying that hard… How weak. He should’ve been raised more confidently, more strongly.”

Tae Kyung couldn’t bring himself to either console or scold Min Jun. He only felt disturbed.

Meanwhile, Seo Ha silently screamed inside: Because of you—because of your mother—my child is hurting.

At the same time, she feared Min Jun would be taken away from her if they ever discovered he was Tae Kyung’s son.

She bit her lip hard, pulling herself together.

“Principal, I’m really sorry. I’ll take Min Jun and leave now.”

Seo Ha grabbed Min Jun’s wrist and led him out of the principal’s office.

Tae Kyung gave Yoon Hee a brief nod and followed Seo Ha out. Seo Ha had taken Min Jun into an empty classroom and was giving him a stern scolding.

“How could you just barge in like that? There were guests inside! And didn’t Mommy tell you not to fight with your friends? No matter what Do Hoon said, you shouldn’t hit your friends.”

“But Do Hoon teased me first and even hit me! You don’t even know what happened!”

Seo Ha sighed. Watching this from the classroom window, Tae Kyung opened the door.

“Why are you being so harsh on him? From what I saw, that kid didn’t really do anything that wrong.”

“Mind your own business. If you’re so busy, just leave already.”

Seo Ha retorted coldly.

Unfazed, Tae Kyung kept his eyes fixed on Min Jun.

Min Jun stuck out his lips in a pout, his face sullen.

“Hey, kid. Have you never been to an amusement park before?”

“…….”

“Seo Ha, you haven’t even taken your kid to an amusement park once? What have you been doing?”

“Tae Kyung oppa!”

Seo Ha’s voice rose sharply. Tae Kyung ignored her completely, staring intently only at Min Jun.

Pouting, Min Jun shot back at Tae Kyung,

“Don’t say anything bad about my mom. She’s just busy, that’s all. I don’t even need to go to places like amusement parks!”

Hearing her son defend her like that warmed Seo Ha’s heart—but it also ached to see him speaking so innocently, unaware that the man before him was his own father.

Tae Kyung felt a flicker of approval for Min Jun, who cared for his mother.

He’s far better than that good-for-nothing biological father who abandoned his woman. At least he knows how to look after his mom.

His growing fondness for Min Jun softened his tone slightly as he addressed Seo Ha.

“It’s not an amusement park, but if you’d like, I can get you tickets to a robot-themed park. We have a partnership with them. For old times’ sake, I’ll do at least that much.”

Normally, Tae Kyung always gave away all the theme park tickets he received from business partners to his employees—

He’d never thought he’d have any reason to go himself.

So why had it suddenly crossed his mind now?

Was it because he still wanted to do anything for Kim Seo Ha? He wasn’t sure if this was hatred or love anymore.

Unlike Tae Kyung, Seo Ha responded with icy sharpness.

“If you’re offering out of pity, I don’t need that kind of cheap sympathy. Please stop interfering with me and Min Jun.”

“Fine. I thought I’d do something nice for once, but apparently not. Kim Seo Ha—if you don’t want pity, then you should’ve lived well enough not to deserve it. Don’t kick away a chance you rolled into just because of pointless pride.”

Tae Kyung turned away with a sneer. For a brief moment, he regretted offering the robot theme park tickets out of misplaced sympathy.

Getting emotionally involved with someone else’s child—especially the child of the man who stole his woman.

“Crazy Han Tae Kyung.”

Tae Kyung cursed himself under his breath.

He left the kindergarten and got into his car.

Kyu Won, who had been waiting outside, hurried after him.

Tae Kyung slid into the driver’s seat and spoke in a deeply sullen voice,

“Lee Kyu Won—you’ll teach the class tomorrow.”

“What?”

Kyu Won rubbed his face wearily, as if completely fed up with Tae Kyung’s whims.

“Seriously, are you trying to kill me? What did I ever do to deserve this?”

Kyu Won’s desperate cry fell on deaf ears. The deep frown on Tae Kyung’s forehead refused to smooth out.

But the next day—

Tae Kyung sat heavily in the back seat of Kyu Won’s car, headed toward Yangpyeong, looking like a man dragged to the slaughterhouse, despite having just told Kyu Won to teach the class himself.

“You told me to teach, so why are you getting in? Don’t you have work to do?”

Kyu Won grumbled irritably. He was already swamped, and lately, Tae Kyung’s unpredictable behavior had multiplied his workload several times over.

“I’m coming to supervise how well you teach.”

“You teach well enough without me having to watch. Go do your own job.”

“I’ll handle my own work. Just drive.”

Kyu Won shot Tae Kyung a glare. Tae Kyung didn’t flinch—crossing his legs, folding his arms, and closing his eyes as if nothing mattered.

Kyu Won grumbled under his breath and drove toward Yangpyeong.

“But you can’t keep coming here every week like this. What about your company? Are you just going to keep clinging to this place?”

“Don’t worry about it. I’ll manage my schedule myself.”

“What’s your relationship with Ms. Kim Seo Ha? Why are you pushing yourself so hard? This isn’t like you.”

“This is exactly like me.”

Tae Kyung couldn’t define his relationship with Seo Ha clearly.

An ex-lover?

But his feelings for her were still very much alive.

Though hers probably weren’t.

Was it unrequited love, then?

That didn’t seem right either. If he truly loved her, he wouldn’t feel this seething hatred every time he saw her.

He got angry whenever he saw her—yet kept seeking her out again and again.

He’d threatened Hyun Young that he’d win Seo Ha back, but he couldn’t control his own fickle heart.

Kyu Won offered advice with genuine seriousness.

“Old loves are meant to stay beautiful as memories. Don’t waste yourself on a relationship that wasn’t meant to be.”

Kyu Won expected Tae Kyung to snap back with some sarcastic remark, but Tae Kyung just stared silently out the window.

Someone once said that if love hurts too much, it’s not love—but was his love for Seo Ha not love at all?

Arriving in Yangpyeong under this heavy mood, the two entered the kindergarten building.

The children from yesterday’s class greeted Tae Kyung warmly.

“Wow! It’s our coding teacher!”

“Teacher!”

Tae Kyung gave a faint smile as the kids ran up and clung to him.

Seo Ha stood nearby with an impassive expression. She merely gave him a glance of acknowledgment before turning her head away.

Tae Kyung felt weighed down. What exactly did he want from Seo Ha now?

He’d only wanted to find her—but now that he had, he didn’t know what to do with her, raising another man’s child.

His conflicting emotions left him confused.

Today’s class was for the five-year-olds—and coincidentally, Min Jun’s class. Tae Kyung and Kyu Won entered.

Tae Kyung noticed Min Jun, who—unlike the other kids eagerly crowding around him—stood far away, fidgeting awkwardly.

What a bothersome kid.

Annoying, yet impossible to ignore.

Suddenly, he recalled Min Jun’s tearful outburst from yesterday.

Was his name Do Hoon?

“Who’s Do Hoon?”

“Do Hoon? He’s right over there!”

A thin, dark-skinned boy with mischief in his eyes perked up and answered brightly.

Tae Kyung instantly disliked him.

He didn’t like Min Jun much either—but this kid, he disliked even more.

“Do Hoon. Got it.”

Tae Kyung gave a meaningful little smile. Kyu Won seated the children and began the lesson.

Kyu Won handled the kids far more skillfully than Tae Kyung ever could.

Tae Kyung, however, had zero interest in how well Kyu Won taught—he only kept his eyes on Min Jun.

For a five-year-old, Min Jun grasped concepts astonishingly fast. He finished Kyu Won’s tasks quicker than anyone else in class and even helped the friend sitting beside him.

‘That sharp mind doesn’t seem like it came from his deadbeat father. Maybe he takes after his mom.’

Tae Kyung grumbled to himself, already convinced—without even knowing him—that Min Jun’s biological father couldn’t possibly be intelligent.

Emotionally, he simply couldn’t bring himself to believe that man was capable of anything.

Suppressing his ugly feelings, he kept glancing repeatedly at Min Jun.

That kid really drew his attention.

Min Jun had Seo Ha’s features, yet with stronger, more defined lines. Objectively speaking, he was quite handsome.

At five, he still looked more cute than anything—but he’d likely grow into someone with real visual appeal.

Tae Kyung felt oddly unsettled, as if Min Jun’s face looked strangely familiar—but he chalked it up to him resembling Seo Ha.

He desperately hoped Min Jun’s father wasn’t someone he knew.

If it turned out to be someone he recognized, he was certain he’d never be able to forgive him.

As the class progressed, the children were completely absorbed in completing their in-program missions.

Those who finished all assigned tasks even started creating their own characters and games.

Amid this, Do Hoon and Min Jun locked eyes again, glaring at each other fiercely. Tension crackled between the two little boys.

Tae Kyung raised an eyebrow as he watched them.

Suddenly, Min Jun swung a small fist sharply at Do Hoon’s face—and blood began streaming from Do Hoon’s nose.

Do Hoon stared blankly for a moment, then touched his nose, saw the blood, and immediately let out a loud wail.

“Waaah!”
