It was the gesture a man made when asking a woman to dance, and true to his nature, the motion looked rather clumsy. I decided to show off the results of the special training I’d received from Madam Keaton.

I took his hand and walked to the center of the ballroom. Many guests were already dancing to the music.

Although Shuri’s large frame drew attention, I wasn’t as nervous as I’d expected—and surprisingly, I didn’t make any mistakes, perhaps thanks to my intensive practice.

On the contrary, Shuri’s dancing was even more awkward and clumsy, yet it was astonishing that he managed to match every step without stepping on my feet. After finishing our dance, he went on to dance with Ileina, then excused himself, saying regretfully that he had to leave due to urgent matters.

“How was it? Did Shuri step on your feet?”

“No. It was fine.”

“I’m glad. Truthfully, Shuri isn’t very good at dancing. He’s so stiff about it—almost like he’s practicing swordsmanship. Still, he really wanted to show a proud big-brotherly side today, so he squeezed practice time out of his already busy schedule. He was so worried this morning about accidentally stepping on Claire’s feet—I had to reassure him quite a bit. I’m glad I managed to get him to dance with Claire; it was nice to see such an affectionate sibling pair.”

“You and Count McKane—no, I mean, you and your older brother—looked good together too, though Ileina seemed to be taking the lead quite forcefully.”

I still felt awkward calling Count McKane “older brother,” but Ileina, seemingly sensing my discomfort, didn’t press the issue.

“Was it that obvious? Between Shuri and me, I usually take the lead anyway.”

She winked at me and smiled with confident pride. And it wasn’t just a joke—she and Shuri truly did look remarkably well-suited while dancing.

The sight of Shuri’s large, imposing figure moving in step with Ileina’s graceful yet lively steps resembled a fairy tale—like Beauty and the Beast stepping straight out of a storybook.

“But more importantly, are you all right? You’re not feeling dizzy or anything? You know how excessive nervousness can make you dizzy.”

“I was nervous, but not to that extent. I did well and didn’t make any mistakes, right?”

Though I couldn’t recall any errors, I asked just to be sure. She nodded.
