It had been a while since I’d been sick enough to stay in bed, and suddenly, it came to mind.

It was the healer who, the first time I opened my eyes in Claire’s body, had exclaimed about gods and miracles. So I mentioned it to Ileina as a joke, but she didn’t take it as one—she answered seriously.

“Perhaps he’s struggling. I heard that after what happened with you, Miss, something about it gave him an epiphany, and he converted to religion. Since he’s undergoing priestly training now, he probably won’t be able to come here to work as a healer anymore.”

Even back then, he seemed more suited to being a religious figure than a healer, so I felt he’d found his true path. Ileina nodded in agreement with my thoughts and then left the room.

But since many people urgently needed treatment right away, I immediately informed Ian and Count Perman.

Finding the cure didn’t instantly solve everything. The illness was unusual, requiring many rare medicinal ingredients that weren’t commonly used. We searched every available herb on the market but couldn’t find them.

That’s when Chef Rene came to help. He visited me to apologize for past incidents. He said that since stopping the poisonous herbs as I’d advised, his ability to sense scents had improved significantly compared to before.

Of course, his sense of smell wasn’t as sharp as in his youth due to age, but considering he’d barely been able to detect any aroma at all because of the toxic herbs, this felt like a complete recovery to him.

While talking with him, I remembered he’d once used medicinal herbs as cooking ingredients, so on a hopeful hunch, I asked him for help.

Fortunately, although his herb supplier was small-scale, they maintained steady trade, so he quickly obtained the new ingredients needed, allowing us to make the antidote.

Out of twenty-five patients, five sadly died before receiving treatment, but we managed to save the other twenty lives.
