“Neat. Everyone said everything except the library got eroded.”

Rude looked around as he climbed the stairs to the farthest corner of the fourth floor. This was the only passage leading to the library, and the number of vein-like monsters covering the walls steadily decreased the higher he went.

Places devoid of people—where monsters couldn’t feed on life force—eroded more slowly.

Since the erosion occurred while all the students were in class, he’d assumed the relatively less crowded library remained intact. In truth, however, someone had apparently been guarding the library from within.

Rude opened the glass door to the school library. Not a single vein-like trace was visible, nor was there any stench. It was completely unlike the floors below, which reeked of poisonous miasma—as if nothing had happened at all.

[“They’re hiding quite thoroughly. Seems like a capable one,” the Ruler of Chaos remarks, glancing around.]

“Heh. Still, they can’t fool my eyes—eyes that even got tricked by special effects during the Temple mock battle.”

In Rude’s vision, the library was filled with crimson mana, lying silently on the floor like held breath.

[“Not your average strong one, huh?” the Ruler of Chaos chuckles, amused.]

“A color-bearer, seriously?”

Rude laughed helplessly. Those who reached a certain level of power manifested their abilities tinged with a distinct color. The prerequisite? At least S-rank.

Including Rude himself, only five hunters in Korea currently possessed such a color.

“Taking this one in will stir up another storm in the Hunter world.”

[“This mana flow… it’s a mage’s workshop,” the Ruler of Chaos tattles.]

“Ah. A mage? Seriously? Now I’m annoyed. An unregistered color-bearer dares to set up a workshop in a public institution? I only ever forged official documents, at most.”
