Romance for You (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 14
“Mom! What am I going to do! Wah! Wah!”
Yoo Mi collapsed onto the floor and cried.
Ever since overhearing Lee Su’s conversation earlier that day, she hadn’t been herself.
She felt utterly crushed—not just by Lee Su’s lie claiming there was nothing going on between her and Ji Ho, but also by the fact that she’d fallen for it.
Yoo Mi had come home deliberately drunk out of her mind.
When she’d shoved the perfume bottle in Lee Su’s face and demanded answers, Lee Su had looked at her in shock—and Yoo Mi had been so infuriated she’d ground her teeth.
“I should’ve known the moment he walked me home!”
While Yoo Mi ranted alone, Soo Min blankly scanned the room.
The shattered perfume bottle, the overwhelming scent still lingering in the air, and Yoo Mi huddled in the corner, shaking her tangled hair as she wept—it was utter chaos.
Soo Min checked the clock on the nightstand.
9:55 p.m. Won Jin would be home soon.
He’d mentioned a hospital dinner and that he’d be late, but Won Jin rarely stayed out past midnight—even when drinking—and was always meticulous about self-discipline.
Soo Min felt the hairs on the back of her neck stand up.
She’d just realized what she’d done.
She’d slapped Lee Su across the cheek, and in the aftermath, Lee Su had stormed out of the house—it hit her like a bucket of ice water.
“Ugh. I’ve lost it!”
This had never happened before.
Though Lee Su had always been a thorn in her side, Soo Min had always made an effort to be kind to her face-to-face.
But the moment she’d seen Lee Su grab Yoo Mi by the hair, Soo Min had lost all reason—as if someone had grabbed her own hair—and her vision had gone red.
Startled by Yoo Mi’s scream, she hadn’t even had time to properly assess the situation.
Before she knew it, her hand had flown to Lee Su’s cheek.
She regretted it now—but honestly, hitting Lee Su had felt a little relieving at the time.
She’d had so much pent-up emotion.
Lee Su’s room was another sore point.
When Won Jin and she got married, Soo Min naturally assumed Yoo Mi would take the second-floor room—but Won Jin had objected.
His reason? That Lee Su might visit someday and would need a place to stay.
So they’d kept half the second floor—a massive bedroom, a terrace overlooking the garden, a study rivaling Yoo Mi’s room in size, plus a dressing room and a vanity room—all reserved for Lee Su, who didn’t even live there.
It was as if the space were some kind of sacred ground.
Lee Su always got everything good.
Won Jin made it that way—and Lee Su’s casual acceptance of it only made Soo Min angrier and more resentful.
It felt like Lee Su was claiming even Yoo Mi’s rightful share, leaving Soo Min perpetually frustrated.
“No matter how mad I was, I should’ve held back. What do I do now? He’ll look for Lee Su as soon as he gets home.”
Soo Min grew anxious.
She needed to tidy up the room first.
She soothed Yoo Mi, who was still crying with the strong stench of alcohol clinging to her.
“Yoo Mi, go downstairs to your room now! We’ll talk again when you’re sober tomorrow, okay? Dad will be home soon—hurry!”
Soo Min coaxed the whining Yoo Mi up and sent her downstairs.
She didn’t have the luxury of dealing with Yoo Mi’s drunken tantrums right now.
She flung the windows open to air out the room, restored Lee Su’s room to its usual state, and called Lee Su.
As expected, there was no answer.
She tried twice, then a third time—still nothing.
“She’s really furious.”
Soo Min bit her nails.
Just imagining Won Jin’s reaction when he found out she’d hit Lee Su filled her with dread.
“I’ve lost it. I’ve lost it. After all this time holding it together…”
The thought that five years of effort might vanish in an instant left her deeply uneasy.
Growing more restless, Soo Min sent Lee Su a text message.
“Lee Su, where are you? Let’s talk. I wasn’t in my right mind earlier. Mom will apologize—please pick up.”
Despite swallowing her pride and sending an apologetic message, there was no reply.
Still unsettled, Soo Min sent another text.

“Lee Su, I’ll tell Dad you went to a friend’s place. And, just to make sure—please don’t mention what happened earlier to him. We can resolve it between us; there’s no need to involve him. I’ve cleaned your room thoroughly, so please come home no matter how late it gets. I’ll be waiting.”
After sending that long, pleading message, Soo Min bit her lip hard.
She felt disgusted with herself—had she really sunk so low as to tiptoe around her predecessor’s daughter like this?
**
It felt like a dream.
Lee Su felt as if she were lying on an enormous, fluffy cotton candy cloud.
It was so soft and cozy she wished she’d never wake—but gradually, she drifted back to consciousness.
She knew she should open her eyes, yet she dreaded what awaited her when she did.
Slowly, she pushed her eyelids open.
Her vision cleared just as gradually.
She saw a white ceiling, softly illuminated by low lighting that warmly filled the space.
Lee Su was lying on a huge bed in the center of a large room.
Outside, still dark, was partially obscured by curtains, and directly across from the bed hung a massive TV covering the entire wall.
‘Where am I?’
The last things she remembered were getting into an elevator and leaning against Ji Ho before losing consciousness.
‘Where did Seo Ji Ho go?’
A cold ice pack rested on her forehead.
She recalled her whole body burning with fever before she’d passed out.
Lee Su removed the ice pack and slowly lifted her head, sitting upright.
Her T-shirt, soaked from the rain, was still damp.
When she swallowed, her throat burned as if it were tearing open.
Her mouth felt parched and cracked, and her head remained dizzy.
‘What time is it?’
Just as Lee Su tried to get out of bed, a familiar voice spoke.
“Awake?”
She turned toward the sound and saw Ji Ho, who had been slumped by the headboard, slowly straightening up.
He must have fallen asleep sitting right there.
Though his face, shadowed in the dim light, looked tired, it still radiated an undeniable, quiet brilliance.
“Yeah.”
“How do you feel?”
“Much better than before.”
It was utterly surreal—waking up and having this calm conversation with Seo Ji Ho in the same room.
But as always, Ji Ho’s relaxed, natural demeanor put her at ease, and she found herself responding just as calmly.
How could he be so composed about everything?
Ji Ho stood up, picked up a bottle of water from the nightstand, and sat down on the edge of the bed.
In his palm, alongside the water bottle, sat two white pills.
“Fever reducer and cold medicine. Would’ve been better if you’d taken them before falling asleep.”
When Lee Su looked up at him, Ji Ho gave her a gentle, urging look.
She swallowed the pills and drank the entire bottle of water.
Her dry mouth and throat finally felt a little soothed.
Not knowing how to begin, Lee Su hesitated briefly before speaking.
“Where… is this?”
“My place. I live alone.”
In Ji Ho’s calm tone, the fact that this was his home felt as ordinary as anything.
She should’ve been shocked—but Lee Su simply nodded quietly.
After all, it had been her who hadn’t asked where they were going during the drive.
At that moment, anywhere but the house with Soo Min and Yoo Mi had seemed acceptable.
She’d suspected as much when getting out of the car, but now that she was actually in Seo Ji Ho’s home, it felt strangely surreal.
She’d actually fallen asleep in Seo Ji Ho’s bed.
Noticing Lee Su’s awkward expression, Ji Ho smiled gently.

“Don’t worry about unnecessary things. You came here because you had nowhere else to go at that hour.”
“It’s not that. I just feel really bad.”
“About what?”
His voice, still drowsy, cracked slightly at the end.
“About collapsing suddenly like that—and making you lose sleep, getting soaked in the rain… and now lying in your bed like this.”
What an incredible burden this must be.
They weren’t even close enough for this kind of thing.
Too embarrassed to meet Ji Ho’s eyes, Lee Su looked down, clutching the edge of the blanket.
“Everything else is fine—though I was a bit surprised. Never seen someone collapse from getting caught in the rain before.”
“I’d felt under the weather since morning. Took some medicine at home, but started shivering from the cold and just… passed out.”
She could only imagine how bewildering it must’ve been.
Thinking about how she’d gotten from the elevator to here made her cheeks burn.
Better not ask questions she didn’t really want answers to.
Lee Su genuinely felt sorry.
“Still, it’s lucky it wasn’t worse. I was worried you’d stay sick longer. What would you have done if I hadn’t called?”
She wondered—would she have called someone else? Whom had Lee Su thought of?
“I was about to call Ae Ra when your call came through.”
“Perfect timing, then.”
Ji Ho smiled faintly, relieved his patience hadn’t run out in those ten minutes.
His hand moved to Lee Su’s forehead.
“You still have a fever. Want to go to the hospital now?”
“No, I’m okay.”
Though the dizziness persisted, it wasn’t bad enough for a hospital visit.
Honestly, she couldn’t tell if the heat she felt was from her fever—or from Ji Ho staring so intently at her.
“…This won’t do.”
Muttering under his breath with a quiet sigh, Ji Ho left the room briefly and returned.
He held cotton swabs and ointment in his hand.
“Your cheek is even more swollen than before.”
As he spoke, Ji Ho gently brushed Lee Su’s hair behind her ear.
“Oh.”
It had only been a few hours since Soo Min slapped her—but it already felt like a distant memory.
Carefully, Ji Ho traced a line of ointment across Lee Su’s cheek with the cotton swab.
Each time the swab brushed her skin and Lee Su flinched, Ji Ho’s steady gaze shifted from her injury to her eyes.
At such close range that she could feel his breath, Lee Su momentarily felt breathless.
“Does it sting?”
“A little.”
“Done now.”
“…Thank you.”
She’d lost count of how many times she’d thanked Ji Ho by now.
How was it that she kept running into him in these situations?
“There’s a bathroom in the room—feel free to use it. I laid out some clothes for you to change into, though I’m not sure they’ll fit. Still, better than staying in wet clothes.”
Though he must have had countless questions, Ji Ho asked none of them.
She was grateful for many things—but this, most of all.
Just being there quietly beside her.
He must have been shocked and bewildered, yet his calm, composed presence soothed her more than anything.
Everything she’d gone through the previous night suddenly felt trivial.
Ji Ho’s uniquely serene aura relaxed Lee Su’s heart.
“What time is it now?”
“About 3 a.m.”
“Oh.”

She knew she should say she was leaving and get up—but honestly, she couldn’t bring herself to do it.
Could she really go out at this hour, in this state?
She didn’t even have her wallet—she’d have to borrow money from Ji Ho just to get home.
Her lips stayed sealed.
This whole situation was just ridiculous.
Yet it would also be shameless to brazenly stay put.
“You’re not seriously thinking of leaving now, are you?”
“Huh?”
“You’re still unwell—don’t even think about going anywhere.”
“…”
“Take the medicine and sleep some more. Don’t collapse again.”
Lee Su fidgeted awkwardly with the edge of the blanket.
“Are you still uncomfortable around me?”
Shameless, sorry, embarrassed, mortified—so many feelings flooded her at once.
But Ji Ho just chuckled softly.
“Aren’t you past feeling uncomfortable by now? We’ve even spent the night together.”
His offhand remark made Lee Su’s neck flush red.
It wasn’t discomfort—it was guilt.
Ever since meeting Seo Ji Ho last night, everything she’d done had only made her feel more and more remorseful—and even saying that felt hard now.
Ji Ho stood up and pressed firmly on Lee Su’s shoulder.
“I’ll leave so you can rest comfortably. I was just staying nearby to give you your medicine when you woke up.”
It was far too late to pretend she was fine in front of Ji Ho now.
He’d already seen her at her worst—what difference would a few more hours make?
Lee Su chose to compromise with reality.
“I’ll be in the next room. Call me if you feel worse again while sleeping.”
Before Lee Su could even reply, Ji Ho closed the door and left.

Servant: I heard that mermen have no human nature.
Jiang Yang looks at the merman with wet puppy eyes, obsessively calling her ‘A Yang’ like a childish infant: “You call this having no human nature?”
With great difficulty, she releases the merman back into the sea and returns to shore.
Who would have thought that in less than half a month, the merman, who should have been freely wandering in the South China Sea, would shed his scales, endure the pain of losing his tail, transform into human legs, and come ashore to find her?
He kneels at her feet, rubbing her palm, with merman tears rolling down: “A Yang, don’t abandon me.”
