It was a night when white moonlight spilled across the canvas. Olivia let out a soft sigh as she gazed at it.

Though she’d held the conte crayon for dozens of minutes, all that appeared on the canvas was merely an outline sketch of a child around five or six years old.

But she couldn’t possibly draw the baby angel’s face carelessly.

Hesitating before the sketch with only faint contours drawn, Olivia gave a quiet chuckle. Then she looked toward the crayon drawing pinned beside the canvas.

“When you ask what His Highness the Prince looked like at six years old? My lady—no, Your Highness—the Prince truly was the very incarnation of an angel.”

“Even if you searched the entire continent, you’d struggle to find a child more adorable than His Highness was at that age.”

A baby angel. The moment the card game ended, Olivia sought out the elderly retainers. At her single question—“Do you know of Bicander’s baby angel?”—they testified as if they’d been waiting for it.

A child with plump cheeks red as apples and a sweetly smiling face. A boy with charmingly curly black hair.

Listening to their string of descriptions, Olivia held back a sigh. Seeing the retainers unable to hide their fondness as they spoke made her ache with longing for the young Edwin of those days.

Yet, sadly, the only trace of Edwin from that time was this single crayon drawing.

In the end, she’d decided to paint the baby angel’s portrait herself… Olivia gave a weak shrug.

Why was it so difficult to draw onto paper the lovely face that came to mind?

Would it be easier if she drew while looking at him?

Olivia glanced quickly toward the bedroom door. But Edwin, who’d rushed off to attend to state affairs right after the card game, wasn’t returning anytime soon.
