Raising a Villain Went Wrong (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 12
‘There was Yeon, the one I didn’t know, right there—smiling warmly, chattering away, and loved by everyone.’
She was smiling brightly even without him.
That sight set fire to his heart, as if a giant had smashed his body to pieces with a single blow.
All I have is Yeon. Without Yeon, I can’t even sleep or swallow water—yet this child lives so cheerfully.
‘Is Yeon kind to everyone like that? Always?’
Was that kindness—the very thing he clung to as his sole lifeline—actually just sunlight shining down on everyone equally?
The thought made his heart feel torn to shreds.
Dan Mok Bi gazed at Yeon’s face as she slept soundly.
No matter how betrayed he felt, no matter how much it hurt, Dan Mok Bi couldn’t bring himself to hate Yeon.
Naturally, his resentment turned toward those who had taken Yeon away from him.
Dan Mok Bi stroked Yeon’s cheek once more before rising to his feet.
That night, the sky was unusually dark—the slender crescent moon, thin as an eyebrow, was hidden behind clouds, leaving no trace.
‘Ugh, I’m exhausted.’
The steward, worn out all day by the return of the clan head and the eldest young master, walked while thumping his shoulder with his fist. Though suddenly having to serve the clan head with utmost care was tiring, his mind was filled with thoughts of Yi Yeon and Dan Mok Bi.
‘He ordered me to eliminate that child before the clan head’s return…’
It wasn’t as if the child had committed any crime—yet merely for serving Dan Mok Bi, she was to be killed. The steward, who had already led every dirty task for Dan Mok Sect without hesitation, still couldn’t help but feel uneasy about this.
Troubled, the steward instinctively put a cigarette to his lips but couldn’t bring himself to light it and lowered it again.
‘Ugh, why does tobacco suddenly taste so bitter?’
He simply couldn’t smoke it. Maybe it really was time to quit for good. Just as the steward tucked the cigarette back into his robe—
“Hmm?”
His sharp senses caught someone rushing toward him.
‘Who is it? Inside the sect grounds.’
Who could possibly charge at him so abruptly?
Just as the steward had decided the presence was hostile and readied himself to grab the intruder by the collar and slam them to the ground—
The moment he reached out, the thin crescent moon peeked out from behind the clouds, revealing the other’s face. The steward recoiled in shock.
“Ah! Y-young Master!”
The presence was none other than Dan Mok Bi. Without preamble, Dan Mok Bi blurted out,
“Who was it?”
“Sir?”
“I asked who that insolent servant was who took my Yi Yeon away.”
“Th-that’s—!”
The second young master, who had never once stepped outside his quarters on his own, had now come out twice because of Yi Yeon.
The first time, he’d assumed it was just panic-induced chaos, but this second time felt ominous. The steward quickly lowered his head.
“A-ah, there must have been some misunderstanding! Please don’t worry yourself, Young Master, and just rest—”
“If you didn’t want me to worry, you should’ve left Yi Yeon alone.”
A dark, murderous aura seeped from Dan Mok Bi’s black eyes. His crooked lips spat out venomous words.
“You locked me up there, fed me nothing but thin gruel, and turned me into a fool—so much so I forgot how to speak. That’s why I thought, like a fool, I must never climb over that wall until Yeon came for me.”
It wasn’t a lie. Everyone had told him he’d die soon, that he was cursed and mustn’t meet anyone—so he’d believed it.
But after meeting Yi Yeon, Dan Mok Bi realized the truth: the wall imprisoning him was actually very low, the gate was always open, and touching someone didn’t kill them.
Yeon had shown him all of it.
“Do you think I’m still that helpless child who can do nothing, trapped behind that wall?”
After Yeon came, his quarters changed in meaning—from a prison confining him to a peaceful home where only the two of them could be together.
Dan Mok Bi would never forgive anyone who tried to destroy that now.
Sensing something ominous from Dan Mok Bi, the steward bowed his head. The more he faced him, the clearer it became:
‘The second young master is strong.’
He didn’t know how Dan Mok Bi had trained alone in those quarters, but a formidable inner strength now churned within him.
‘If the clan head were to see this…’
He couldn’t begin to guess what might happen.
“…I understand your meaning, Young Master. I will surely find the servant who took Yi Yeon. Please return to your quarters at once.”
“Steward.”
Trending
“Please. This isn’t the time for you to be wandering about.”
“…”
Sensing something else behind the steward’s firm tone, Dan Mok Bi took a step back—just as a deep, heavy voice resonated through the garden.
“How noisy my house is tonight.”
The voice sent chills down his spine, making every hair stand on end. Dan Mok Bi turned his stiffened face.
Atop the high stairs, a man with his hair tied high looked down at him.
“Who are you?”
Biting his lip under that cold, objectifying gaze, Dan Mok Bi recognized him instantly—even though he’d never seen his face or heard his voice before.
Dan Mok Su.
His father.
I had a dream. I don’t know why I dreamed it, but in the dream, I was an adult.
‘Wow, I’ve safely grown up.’
Truthfully, ever since I transmigrated, I’d carried a faint unease.
Baek Ho said I possessed the power of “Eonryeong,” but honestly, it never manifested at my will. Without that power, I was just a kitchen maid destined to cook and do laundry.
‘Right now, I’m raising Dan Mok Bi, but what will I do once time passes?’
Dan Mok Bi would surely grow strong and become an adult—and at least avoid repeating the villain’s tragic path from the original story.
‘Then what am I supposed to do in this world?’
It felt like being abandoned in an unfamiliar place without a map.
Maybe that’s why—even knowing it was just a dream—I felt happy simply at becoming an adult.
‘What kind of adult did I become?’
Excitedly wondering this as I happily walked somewhere—
“Yeon.”
An incredibly deep, soft yet low voice—so captivating it sent shivers down my spine—called my name. Clearly, it belonged to an adult man.
‘Who?’
Who could possibly call me so tenderly? Pressing down my pounding heart, I slowly turned around.
‘Huh! Who’s this?’
The man behind me stood tall—so tall I’d be completely hidden behind his broad shoulders. His lean, muscular frame caught my eye.
But what truly seized my gaze were his sharp, predator-like eyes.
His black pupils seemed like the night sky itself—devoid of stars or moon. Those eyes held me, pulling me in as if I’d be swallowed whole.
My lips moved without my will.
“Young Master.”
Hearing those words, I jumped in surprise.
‘Young Master? There’s only one person I’d ever call “Young Master”!’
So this handsome man must be Dan Mok Bi?
‘Goodness! Young Master grew up so beautifully. You did well!’
Nowhere in his sturdy, oak-like presence could I sense the fragile, wounded child he once was.
In a gloomy tone, he asked,
“Where are you going?”
“Well…”
I hesitated. Though I didn’t know where I was headed, it clearly wasn’t somewhere good.
Noticing my unease, he gripped my wrist tightly and pleaded,
“Don’t abandon me. Don’t leave my side.”
His desperate tone made my own face twist in distress—just as he slowly lifted his head. His gaze, honed like a well-forged blade, radiated icy coldness.
“If you leave, I don’t know what I’ll become.”
“Ah!”
I jolted awake right there.
‘It… it was just a dream!’
The dream’s oppressive atmosphere had vanished; warm sunlight now wrapped around me. Though I knew I was back in reality, my heart still raced.
‘Ugh, that was truly terrifying.’
It was as if my body froze on its own the moment I tasted that sticky, obsessive attachment.

After exhaling a few shaky breaths to calm myself, I buried my face in my palms. A doubt naturally surfaced.
‘…Was he really Young Master Dan Mok Bi?’
Did I just have a genuine premonition? Or did I mix up the original story’s Dan Mok Bi and fabricate this dream myself?
“Ugh, now I’m even having weird dreams.”
Sighing, I got up and opened the window. Wait—why was the sun so high in the sky?
Glancing absentmindedly at the sundial in the courtyard, I screamed.
“Kyaaa! I overslept!!”
I still had to prepare meals for Young Master and Lord Baek Ho!
“Young Master, I’m so sorry! Lord Baek Ho, I’m so sorry!”
Rushing out in a panic, I tilted my head in confusion. It was already time for Young Master to wake and train, yet the annex was eerily quiet.
‘What happened?’
Dan Mok Su and Dan Mok Chang returned—so why was Dan Mok Bi missing?
With such a restless dream on top of everything, my heart churned anxiously. After searching every corner of the quarters for Dan Mok Bi, I found Baek Ho half-asleep in Dan Mok Bi’s room, grumpily waking up.
-Eh? What is it?
What do you mean, “what”? I pressed Baek Ho’s face firmly to wake him up faster.
“Lord Baek Ho, where’s Young Master? Haven’t you seen him?”
Baek Ho turned his head away irritably and grumbled,
-Why ask me about that brat? He’s probably sprawled out somewhere near you.
“I wouldn’t be asking if he were here!”
Our Lord Baek Ho is just too dense! Frustrated, I pounded my own chest. Baek Ho then turned his head the other way and said,
-He seemed to slip over the wall briefly last night—maybe he hasn’t returned yet.
“What? He went out?”
-Yes.
Hearing that left my mouth hanging open even wider. Even in normal times, the sect grounds weren’t safe for Dan Mok Bi to wander freely—but now, especially, it was far worse!
‘What if he runs into Dan Mok Su?’
The man who’d neglected his son so cruelly surely wouldn’t feel sudden affection upon seeing him now. I immediately scooped up Baek Ho.
“Why are you so calm! We need to find Young Master!”
-What? Huh? I’m sleepy!
Baek Ho squirmed in annoyance, but I ignored him completely, holding him close as I stepped outside the quarters.
‘Where could he be?’
Please, please don’t let him have gone toward the main hall.
“Young Master! Young Master!”
How long I frantically searched the sect grounds, calling out desperately—I finally found Dan Mok Bi near the large pond just before the main hall.
Under a willow tree, his familiar thin neck and small frame came into view. I approached him and patted my chest in relief.
“Goodness, Young Master—you gave me such a fright! My heart nearly dropped.”
His dull, hollow black eyes stared blankly at me. Smiling, I took his hand.
“Let’s go back quickly. You haven’t had breakfast yet, right?”
Just then, his pale blue lips trembled, and he whispered words he surely didn’t expect me to hear.
“Who… are you?”
Male lead fell into her trap — and shattered when she walked away
This is also on my reread list!
This one is a slow burn, but when it burns, it burns hard.
Definitely worth a read, y’all!

The story follows a thousand-year-old seductive spirit who, on a bet, sets out to charm the male lead—a once-promising but unfortunate cultivator.
But just when she succeeds in making him fall for her, she heartlessly leaves, driving him to madness.
Determined to find her at all costs, he captures her, keeping her by his side no matter what, even if she hates him.
I love this kind of trope—I enjoy watching the male lead suffer in agony.
The ending drags a bit with unnecessary filler, but that’s fine.
As long as I enjoy the beginning, I’m good.
