Pregnant With The Wolf's Child (Completed Main Story) - Chapter 1
The prayer room located on the west side of the Grand Cathedral.
The slow footsteps approaching the altar came to a halt.
Jade picked up a portrait covered in ancient dust and gently brushed it off.
“Larien, have you been well?”
He offered a tender greeting, meeting the gaze of her ocean-like eyes.
“I meant to come a bit earlier, but I had things to take care of, so I’m late. I’m sorry.”
He grasped the withered lilies surrounding him, and they crumbled effortlessly in his hand.
“Larien. Ayla is getting married soon. I thought her temper would make it impossible—doesn’t that seem strange?”
“…….”
He pulled out the wedding invitation—written by his younger sister herself—and let out a bitter chuckle, though the corners of his mouth soon dropped.
“You still won’t give me an answer, will you?”
Once again, loneliness sank deep into the mire and claimed him.
“Larien. It’s almost been five years since you died.”
Though much time had passed since Larien’s death, it still didn’t feel real. In truth, he still wished it was all just a mistake.
‘……I suppose it’s time I cleaned up here, too.’
In the end, it was all just his own selfishness.
Even in death, he hadn’t let Larien rest in peace.
“……Happy birthday, Larien.”
Jade, who had come to celebrate her twenty-fifth birthday, remained frozen at the age of twenty—the year she died.
He didn’t feel truly alive. Without Larien’s letter, he would have long ago ended this pathetic life.
Even sustaining his own existence felt like a sin.
It disgusted him—living another day after having caused Larien’s death.
“Whose birthday is it today? Can Shushu celebrate too?”
At that moment—
“Hello!”
A child entered, accompanied by the sound of footsteps.
‘……How dare you.’
Jade had been pouring enormous donations into the Grand Cathedral—amounts nearly equivalent to an entire year’s budget of his estate—
all to maintain this prayer room in her memory.
Jade had set only one condition for the Grand Cathedral:
that no one else be allowed to set foot inside the prayer room.
‘They’re utterly incompetent. It’s not even a difficult request.’
This prayer room was his alone—a space not even his sister was permitted to enter.
The intrusion of a stranger filled him with displeasure.
“Shushu also had a birthday recently! Shushu is four years old!”
“You have no right to just barge in here—”
Jade’s irritation caught in his throat as he took a closer look at the child’s face.
A petite nose, and snow-white skin that looked soft enough to sink into upon touch.
“Was it wrong for Shushu to come in here?”
The child, her chestnut hair braided on both sides, blinked her sea-colored eyes tinged with violet.
“You…….”
Her hair and eye color were identical to Larien’s.
Her features were so alike that he could easily believe she was Larien as a child.
‘It’s astonishing how closely she resembles her.’
The anger that had flared at seeing someone who looked like the one he could never see again began to fade.
“My neck hurts because you’re too tall! Could you please bend down a little?”
Jade showed kindness, kneeling down to match the child’s eye level.
“Thank you! Now I can see clearly, and I’m happy!”
“What’s your name?”
Regardless, he wanted to see more of that face resembling Larien’s—

even if she was merely someone who looked like her, with no real connection to Larien at all.
[This is the timeline separator]I was abandoned by my parents right after birth and grew up in an orphanage.
After turning an adult, I skipped college and went straight to work.
No matter how frugally I lived on my small salary from a minor company, I still had to deliver newspapers in the dead of night when everyone else was asleep.
Exhausted from delivering papers, I dozed off and was hit by an oncoming truck.
The truck driver fled without even calling an ambulance.
It was cold, painful, and lonely. Even in my final moments, I was alone.
Lying alone on the biting snow, I slowly lost consciousness.
I must have died.
After all, when I opened my eyes, I was in a completely different place.
Before me hung an ornate chandelier; a soft, wide bed cradled me, and a warm hand grasped mine, as if waiting for me to wake.
These were things I’d never experienced in my life.
Seeing in the mirror a girl with wavy chestnut hair and sea-colored eyes tinged with violet, I understood.
I’d been reincarnated into the childhood of the villainess from a tragic novel set in a world where all characters were beastkin.
Larien Bellaste—the villainess from “Trapped in the Shadowmaster’s Web”—had a miserable upbringing.
Her mother died of postpartum illness shortly after giving birth to her.
The Duke Bellaste, who had deeply loved his wife, came to despise Larien.
He neglected her entirely, refusing even to treat her as his child.
Starved of affection, Larien grew jealous of the beloved heroine and tormented her—only to be killed by the shadowmaster.
I felt sorry for Larien.
Perhaps because I, too, was an orphan, I felt a kinship with her—and I didn’t want her to die again.
No. Now that I *was* her, I didn’t want to die at all.
To prevent that, I had no choice but to grow close to Jade—the very shadowmaster who would kill Larien.
It was easy to win over a grieving child who’d lost both parents in a carriage accident.
When I found his lost pocket watch, Jade dropped his guard.
Thanks to that, I reformed him before he could become the shadowmaster, and we grew close as childhood friends.
As we spent more time together, Jade matured into someone entirely unlike the shadowmaster described in the original story.
Though slightly sensitive and reluctant to socialize with others, he was always kind to me.
I also got to know Ayla, Jade’s younger sister, and the three of us lived like siblings.
Perhaps because we stayed so close even after our coming-of-age ceremonies,
rumors began circulating in high society that there was something suspicious about Jade and me.
Rumors.
These would become a fatal problem once it came time for each of us to marry.
To quell the gossip, I started avoiding Jade.
One day, despite his repeated requests to meet, I kept refusing—until I received a letter from Ayla in the dim, early hours of dawn.
Sensing something was wrong, I quickly read the message.
[ To my elder sister,Brother is very sick. He has a high fever and needs to take medicine, but he keeps calling only for you.
They say it’s dangerous if he refuses to take it and keeps holding out like this. Can you come?
Sorry for troubling you so late.
—Ayla. ]
‘Jade is sick?’
Worried about Jade—so ill he wouldn’t even take medicine, yet kept asking for me—I secretly made my way to Rowe Marquis Residence.
“Sister, you came…?”
“Ayla. Where’s Jade? Why did he suddenly fall ill?”
“Well… um… Just go to his bedroom first.”
Ayla, who had come to greet me, avoided my gaze and mumbled something vague.
Inside the bedroom, Jade was tying the sash of his robe.
His silver hair was damp, as if he’d just finished bathing.

“…You really came. If I’d known, I would’ve told Ayla to send the letter sooner.”
I was dumbfounded by his perfectly healthy appearance.
“Jade. Weren’t you supposed to be sick?”
His silver hair shimmered brilliantly in the moonlight.
“Do you have any idea how worried I was when I heard you were ill? Is this just a ruse? How can you play such tricks?”
“If I hadn’t done something like this, you wouldn’t have come at all.”
His boldness—having faked illness just to see me—drew a hollow laugh from me.
“…Jade, next time you say you’re sick, I won’t come.”
As I turned to leave after that brief rebuke, Jade grabbed my wrist.
His overt scent of vitality stirred the quiet rhythm of my heart.
Click.
Jade locked the door and pressed even closer to me.
Startled, I immediately pushed against his chest to get away.
“Jade!”
Suddenly, I felt weightless. Jade had scooped me up effortlessly with one arm.
“Jade, let me go!”
“You’ll get hurt. Just stay still, Larien.”
Holding my struggling form firmly, Jade laid me down on the bed.
In an instant, I found myself pinned beneath him.
‘He’s not drunk—has he gone mad?’
Jade’s eyes were unmistakably different from usual. His irises held only me.
“Girls are supposed to like this kind of thing.”
“…What?”
“They said this alone would be enough to win you over.”
Jade, speaking in incomprehensible terms, placed his hand on my waist.
“So… I can keep going, right?”
His touch, thick with desire, pressed insistently.
“Jade, don’t do this. You’ll surely regret it tomorrow—”
He pinned me down with his forearm, veins standing out blue beneath his skin.
The motion jostled the bed, causing his robe to gape open at the front.
My face burned as I caught sight of droplets perilously perched on his collarbone.
“I won’t regret it.”
“…Jade.”
“Do you have any idea how long I’ve held back?”
His low whisper resonated dangerously in the air.
“Larien. Why do you try to leave me?”
A tear from Jade’s eyes fell unerringly onto my cheek.
“You promised you’d stay by my side no matter what happened.”
“When did I ever—?”
“You said so when we were kids.”
His words stirred a memory from childhood.
‘Don’t worry, Jade. I won’t leave. I’ll always stay by your side.’
‘…You promised, Larien.’
Back then, I’d only been comforting Jade, who feared separation after his parents’ deaths.
I never imagined he’d still hold onto those words as a binding promise.
“Jade, that was just—!”
“…If you really hate it, just turn your head away. I won’t do it.”
How could I possibly escape?
From those crimson eyes drawing near with relentless intent.
“I’ve already given you plenty of time to run away, Larien.”

Overwhelmed by his gaze, even swallowing became difficult.
Jade sealed my lips with his own.
Thus began a long, endless night.

When male lead is the homewrecker
“I know she doesn’t love him.”
I’ve read the novel below twice already. Girls, I’m highly recommending it to you!

The female lead? Not a good person.
The second male lead? Not a good person.
The male lead? Willingly plays the third party, breaking up the female and second male lead’s relationship despite all the warnings from his friends—so yeah, he’s definitely not a good person either.
Basically, nobody in this novel is simple-minded or without scheming.
The female lead starts off as the male lead’s secretary, but don’t worry—later on, she takes over the company while the male lead steps back to support her. He won’t steal her spotlight, overshadow her, or dull her shine.
I love novels where men are out here snatching wigs, tearing each other down, and going to war just to win the female lead’s affection. And this is exactly that kind of novel. Most of Hai Dai Ran’s works have this dynamic. You’ll see the male characters’ emotions being pushed to the absolute extreme.
There’s even a scene where the second male lead exposes the male lead online for being a homewrecker. The brotherhood immediately gangs up on him, dragging him through the mud. I find it compelling —it completely flips reality on its head, where usually, women are the ones fighting over a man and getting torn apart by the sisterhood.
For me, female leads in the novels I read should only struggle in their careers, not in love. But if the brainless romantics in the story are all men? I have zero complaints.
I’ve pretty much read all of Hai Dai Ran’s novels and even translated all of them—her works are just my thing. I’ll slowly upload everything here. One day, when my website is official, I hope I can invite her to join as one of the star authors.
Here’s the story synopsis:
