The white mansion, from which dozens of shadows had slipped away, was as silent as if submerged in water.

Orbis rose from his seat and slowly walked down the corridor.

The moon had tilted quite far to the west. Seeing the clear starlight, it seemed tomorrow would be sunny as well.

‘I wonder if Litania is sleeping well.’

As Orbis stood in front of Litania’s bedroom, the door slid open silently without a sound.

At first, fearing he might visit her bedroom in the middle of the night, she had pushed a chair against the door and diligently barricaded it, but when he didn’t attempt to sneak in throughout the construction period, she soon stopped.

Whether she had her guard up or not, Orbis chuckled softly at the sight of Litania sleeping defenselessly without even properly drawing the canopy.

“You pushed me away so fiercely, yet you fall asleep so reassured just because I didn’t visit for a few days. What am I to do with you?”

Orbis gently sat on the edge of the bed and gazed down at Litania’s sleeping face.

Her small face, lost in slumber, looked innocently childlike, as if she knew nothing of the world’s darker sides.

“You trust everything far too easily. People, the world, and even me.”

Quietly reaching out to stroke her soft hair, her expression softened even more, as if it felt pleasant.

Was she having a good dream? Orbis, who had been twirling her fine strands around his finger, lowered his posture slightly and brought his face closer.

Warm breath flowed in hues from her sweet-scented red lips.

Orbis narrowed his eyes, watching her lips part slightly and then close again.
