Arabella stepped quickly out of the castle gate, whispering in a gentle voice. The round sack bundled tightly in her arms gave a small, soft jolt.
A pair of black eyes peeked out from between the folds of the blanket, gazing up at Arabella, who stroked the little one’s damp nose with her finger.
“Still… being with you makes my heart feel like it’s beating properly again. Thank you.”
When she fled the Emperor’s chamber, she thought her heart would burst.
Not only had she failed to dodge those approaching red lips—she’d even shut her own eyes!

I’ve been wondering just how he intends to keep her alive and unharmed enough to even attempt lifting the curse. I don’t believe these classes will be enough if she only had four days.
Is she not concerned because the emperor told her she wasn’t going to become the empress regardless? He explicitly stated she only needed to break his curse & that she wouldn’t become the empress as she wasn’t qualified (I don’t recall his precise wording).
