“Oh, right!”

I had been staring blankly at the three of them walking away when I suddenly realized I was still wearing Carlisle’s coat and hastily called out to stop him. It wasn’t even cold anymore, so continuing to wear someone else’s coat felt odd.

“Just a moment!”

Carlisle soon came running back, clearly wondering why I’d called him, and I carefully took off the coat draped over my shoulders and handed it to him.

“I nearly forgot to return this. Thank you for lending it to me.”

“You’re welcome.”

When I added that it had been very useful, Carlisle unexpectedly blushed and wore such a flustered expression that my head filled with question marks—but since Sasha was waiting and watching from behind, I couldn’t say anything further and quickly sent him outside.

I silently wished in my heart that he’d just stay quiet and well-behaved until the end, without bursting into my room crying and making a scene. I watched until the door closed.

Moments later, as soon as I returned to my seat, Sasha promptly sank down onto the sofa, his expression now serious and solemn. It really did seem he’d been wearing a mask and acting while the children were present; this was the Sasha I recognized.

That meant the usually inscrutable boy had clearly shown his emotions earlier, back when Fleur was with the children.

“I need your help.”

“Oh really? Is that the only urgent reason you came?”

I crossed my arms and raised one eyebrow skeptically. Even though we were temporary allies, I’d assumed he’d be hiding another agenda and would make some demand under the guise of a threat—but instead, he’d just meekly approached me, which left me baffled.

He certainly hadn’t acted this way back when he’d disappeared with the “Star’s Tear,” claiming he wanted to stop Freyrie’s annihilation. Had something happened to Freyrie since then? It felt like my uneasy suspicion might be about to come true.
