Whether Beris or Carlisle was either not surprised or simply hadn’t noticed that Ronowe had moved so quickly, I couldn’t tell—I’d only been looking straight ahead.

“If Ronowe used demonic power to deceive Carlisle’s eyes, that might be a different story.”

Since I’ve never actually seen just how boundless demonic power truly is, I can’t say for sure if that’s even possible. Beris, being a fallen angel, once mentioned using the power of “Oblivion” during a debutante ball, so someone of Ronowe’s rank as a legion commander could surely unleash far greater power if she so chose.

The only display of Ronowe’s power I’d personally witnessed was when she split open that otherworldly space—where the Primordial Gate once stood—like slicing fabric with scissors, holding nothing but an enormous candy cane. Still, as a legion commander in name, she must be hiding more than that.

“Now that things have come to this, let’s all move together!”

Watching Ronowe and Beris carefully avoid revealing their demonic forms in front of Carlisle, I decided there was no need for me to expose their true identities myself. It wouldn’t benefit me at all, and since we’d been summoned here, it seemed inevitable their secret would soon be revealed anyway—

Whether Ronowe and Beris wanted it or not.

And if things went well, Carlisle might even come to understand something about his past life or his agonizing death.

As I sorted my thoughts, I paid close attention to Ronowe’s words.

“We may not know the way, but we could still be of help, couldn’t we?”

Ronowe, who refused to let go of me even for a moment, seemed convinced that if she loosened her grip, I’d flutter away and vanish into thin air. She’d mentioned before that I’d once invited her to Paradise and that there were reasons she’d naturally grown attached to me—could that be why?

Back then, when Ronowe had openly revealed her true identity and explained why she cherished me, I couldn’t fully grasp her emotions on a theoretical level, but I could at least accept that such feelings might be possible.

But now, she was being far too stubborn. I’d simply let her tag along for the time being… though if this persistence stemmed from worry or anxiety, I could only assume it was because she considered me a friend.
